And what about the old story line that Jehovah would read people's hearts so you didn't necessarily have to be baptized to make it through Armaggedon? I guess that is old light as well.

Last nights CLAM meeting
by dbq407 inso hadn't been to a clam meeting in quite a few months, but went last night.
so we learned that gog of magog is not satan as previously believed.
they used a few scriptures that made it clear that it couldn't be satan and that it would be a coalition of nations.

Is the End right around the corner or what???
by Lynnie ininteresting observations i've noticed when visiting my uber elder cousin and his wife.
he just inherited a lovely home on the water on puget sound from his non jw dad who passed away earlier this year.
so they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes.

yes there are quite a few rich JW's here in Seattle, they are always traveling and doing fun stuff, Oh and they stop in at a branch headquarters when they are traveling so I'm sure they can legitimize the travel. No one seems too concerned around here. Of course if you are a rich JW it's much easier anyway.
funny my cousin was talking about long term health care insurance since they are about 66 or so and are apparently not counting on Armaggedon any time soon either. How do these people live with themselves? It's so hypocritical but of course they can't see it at all.

Interesting observations I've noticed when visiting my Uber Elder cousin and his wife. He just inherited a lovely home on the water on Puget Sound from his non JW dad who passed away earlier this year. So they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes. IIt really didn't need all the upgrades that they have done. And they have just gotten a new car as well, his wife said to me "Oh this will be our "death car" or the last car we own before we die." Hmmmm? Oh and his youngest daughter and husband that lives in this inherited house are going to live there for another year and then they will build their own house on some property 30 miles north of this house. So I guess the plans continue even though the ORG is telling everyone to simplify etc. or go where the great are needed (or where the need is great!) I guess that doesn't apply to JW royality.
So I don't even think they realize what they are saying when they say this stuff to me and it's very amusing! Of course I didn't say anything like "what about Armaggedon coming next week" just more fun to listen to what this idiots are saying.

Tacoma Dome Conventions
by Lynnie inso i went to visit my jw aging mother this week (i've been df'd for 40 years) and she told me she needs to give the people who are taking her to the convention $10 each day of the convention to cover gas?
my uber elder cousin told her she needs to do this!!!
wtf?

No Pete she still has the reverse mortgage and is on a very fixed income. What a bunch of crap!
It just kills me that my cousin who is now very rich couldn't see his way clear to just give up the $30. What a creep!

And why does she need to pay anything when presumably the people were going anyway? NO CHARITY HERE!!!!

Who is benefiting from Watchtower Corporation financially
by John Davis inwho do you believe is financially benefiting from watchtower business dealings.
i know about the gold apple watch, but that is only a small percentage of the billions that they have.
so who do you think is keeping all of this money.

Well I can tell you that my cousins who are in the higher ups in Bethel are benefiting from the "world wide work" big time. They fly first class all over the world to different branches and then tell the branches how to do the RBC and purchasing stuff. He works in Purchasing and has worked his way up in the last 8 years since they've been there. She works in the laundry, a perfect place for a good witness wife and bethelite.

Vegetarians in the "new system?"
by Lynnie inso i was looking on instagram and one of my former jw friends was showing pictures of his bbq ribs and saying something about well we better eat all the pigs we can now since we won't be eating meat in the new system of things?

Here in Seattle the JW's are always doing fun stuff, lots of rock concerts to go to, lots of happy hours out. It's amazing how much they can do here compared to when I was in. I think a lot of the younger ones have figured out how to fly under the radar. My girl cousin and 2 males friends of hers went to Ireland together last year, they are in their early 30's but back in my day you couldn't go ANYWHERE with single people of the opposite sex. These 3 went to Ireland for 2 weeks. My cousin is an elder's daughter so of course nothing is said and she gets away with being worldly and spiritual all at the same time. Amazing.

Shunning
by A Believer inyou guys do know that if you just leave and never go back you wont be disfellowshiped right?
i know people who have done exactly this.
you have to commit a sin and you or someone else has to tell a elder.

It depends on who you are if you can just leave or not. my cousin told me that you could leave JW's at anytime so I believed her. It worked for her only because her mother was a big contributor $$ wise and I'm sure they didn't want to stop the cash flow. I tried to do the same thing and had elders stalking me 2 years later until they could finally get something on me. I just wanted to be left alone! So now 40 years later she's "inactive" and has a normal relationship with her elder brother and his wife. Me? Well I've been actively shunned for 40 years. No normal family Iife like she has. In fact the non JW's kids of hers are welcomed openly in their house like they are JW's . They will never be but it's better to never be a JW than to be kicked out and shunned for your whole adult life.

Not one visit, 8 years in a nursing home, and not one visit!
by Raymudas Martini inmy dad{rip}, was a faithful jw since the year i was born, i'm 60, he died 2 years ago.
his last 12 years were spent in an assisted living/nursing home right in the small town where he spent the last 8 years of being an elder/pioneer.
when he went into the home, one brother would visit him regularly, but after 4 years, that friend moved away, and visitation from the locals ceased, for 8 years!!!!!!!

Yes I see the same thing happening with my mother, a pioneer for many many years and is now old and unable to drive and has to PAY for someone to come by during the day to take her to the store or whatever. I was told the pioneers were "too busy" and it wasn't "their responsibility" to help with her. Really? Oh and my uber elder cousin (also rich)who has his oldest daughter and son in law at the inner circle of Bethel barely have time for her and he's in charge of her estate since I'm DF's and can't be trusted. Although on occasion he thinks he can call me and order me to do stuff for her. Doesn't work anymore.
