Thanks Everyone! I appreciate all your posts; I do feel sorry for my brother's kids who are so wrapped up in the Org. They made the choice to become JW's on their own, as young adults. I pray they will see the real 'troof' some day, you all give me hope and you also give me much enlightenment into the JW mindset.

Did you ever attend a NonJW Funeral?
by AuntieJane inmy brother died suddenly.
his funeral was in the catholic church.
his 2 jw children and their offspring actually stood in the back of the church, behind a glass wall, and observed the service.

My brother died suddenly. His funeral was in the Catholic church. His 2 JW children and their offspring actually stood in the back of the church, behind a glass wall, and observed the service. Why? I wish I would have asked them but I was too shocked and didn't want my elderly mother to notice. It still hurts me to this day; do they have a clue as to how it looked/how it hurt us?
What would your JW minds be thinking at a time like this...that you were safe from Satan by staying on the other side of the wall? That you were above the rest of us by being separated? What kind of so-called religion teaches this mindset?

Welcome Lalaluv! You go Girl! And just think, your kids are going to be even stronger than you are....Good job getting on with your life and no doubt being a great role model for them! YOU are the one showing the true Christian attitude, not your Jdub siblings. Hurray for you!

Is leaving the org. easier today than years ago?
by JH inwho is out there to help jw's when they decide to leave the organization?
if it wasn't for forums like this one or internet in general, what aid would those who leave the organization get?.
if we go back a few years before the internet was available to everyone, how did these people who quit, heal from their jw experience?

My God, my heart just hurts thinking of what you people went through to leave the 'truth". I never was a JW but have family in.
I hope some of those still in who are reading these posts can see the real light and know what a mind-control group the JWs really are. I cannot imagine the hiding, worrying, wondering, fearing, sneaking, PARANOIA that must take over your life when you begin to question this stuff. HIDING books from your spouse?! It does my heart good to know that you both were searching for the way out, but...it just boggles my mind that this Borg promotes deception from Square One!
The JW believer unwittingly handed over the precious GIFT of FREEDOM to a control group and his/her life as he/she knew it was not the same again. That GIFT was squelched, hidden away in some deep secret place that he/she found to stash it away. I am grateful that there are places like this for people like you and me. But mostly I am continually moved by those of you who have been there and survived to share your thoughts on this Board.

Dr. Laura
by AuntieJane ini listen to her regularly.
i don't always agree w. her but usually have to admit that she is right from a moral standpoint.
god knows we need more of that in this world!.

Excuse me Dedalus. I meant to say we need more morality. Period. And I think that "cheap dime store variety" probably works for some. And if it helps straighten out their stinkin thinkin, I'm all for it.
I work in a position where I see so much of the same immoral pattern repeated, drugs, gangs, kids having kids, no fathers....etc. etc. At least they hear it loud and clear from her and can then make their own choice, good or bad. Better than any (valuable advice) given by the WTS in their cheap dime store publications.

Yesterday she read a letter (I missed most of it) from a JW to set her straight on someone who'd called in earlier about DFing. The JW writer directed her to the JW website, saying something to the effect that the earlier caller was incorrect about the reasons for DFing.
I'd like to see those here bombard Dr. Laura and direct her to THIS website. Share your personal experiences....keep it simple but truthful. I'll be the first. Her FAX is 818 461-5140
If anyone knows the full content of this call, please fill me in!

It's my birthday, I am mourning my lost childhood.
by aojumper ini am so angry right now, so hurt that my family allowed my brain to be washed and hung out to dry, and then have the nerve to tell me i am on the wrong path.
i wonder how do people let others do this to them?!
i wish i had kept the strength that i remember i had as a very young child and told them all to go to hell!

Do I dare send a card w/$ to my Niece for her 16th in a few days? I love the idea, and I
have to think she would love getting it~but since she got pulled into JW 8 yrs ago I
have respected their "rules". HMMM...rules are made to be broken, so, why not?!!
Did any of you ever receive secret cards/gifts when you were growing up? If so,
how did it go for you?

I guess they just sound dated, perhaps from growing up years, say 20 years ago? I really need to know if this is still going on, or has died down some? ALSO, are women still not allowed to do anything at a meeting other than play music? At what age do kids start giving talks?
THANKS! You are all GREAT.

Oops, sorry, guess it would help to post the letter this time too. Does anyone know...I assume it doesn't have a chance of getting published unless I use my real name, address?
Hello! I was most interested in a recent article printed in your paper on the building of a "Kingdom Hall" by the people who call themselves "Jehovah's Witnesses." I have family members who belong to this organization, I do not call it a church. It is actually a publishing company, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. May I quote from your story, Jesus is our leader and the head of our congregation. We are all brothers. We are all equal. Thats the way it is worldwide. Sadly, they do not actually look at Jesus as the leader like the rest of Christianity. They do not believe in the Deity of Jesus; that he is God the Son. They will not tell you this outright; however, but use misleading statements, such as that quote, to make it sound like they are "equal" with other Christians. Sadly, they also do not believe that "we are all equal". Oh yes, they do mean that Jehovah's Witnesses are all "equal". But they believe that those of us who believe different from them, and I mean traditional mainline Christians to Jews to whatever...they believe that we are NOT equal. They believe that they are the only ones who follow the Truth; but sadly, that Truth is the teachings of the Watchtower Tract Society (WTS). The WTS holds as one of its main teachings the abstaining from blood. They have totally distorted this scripture to the point that they will deny live-giving blood to their own precious children, family members. This is a fact. If I may use another quote, What town can you drive into and see such a beautiful golf course." Ask them if their children would be able to participate on the school's golf team. Be ready to hear something about "conscience", "Jehovah", etc. The children are not allowed to participate in competitive sports. No doubt their children will be home-schooled, as this seems to be the trend. Which may be better for the children than when I grew up and the JW children were ostracized, as they could not join in any school holiday parties, etc. etc. etc. Interesting that another article in your paper tells a beautiful story of a group of students who went to Mexico to build a house for the needy. In the name of Christ. You can be sure that no Jehovah's Witnesses kids will be signing up for such a mission....unless it is sponsored by their own WTS. They are discouraged from joining in with other religious groups, as are their parents. They would be reprimanded by their elders. This is fact. OH, I see also that "An open house for the public is planned in the future." I want to close by letting your public know that Jehovah's Witnesses would die before going to another church's open house, as they are taught that the rest of Christendom is ruled by Satan. This is another fact. I can give you quotes from their own Watchtower teachings if you need them. We are all God's people. The Jehovah's Witnesses, as individuals, are sadly misled by an organization of men that distorts Biblical teachings. It is time that the public is educated. Sincerely, AuntieJane
