Art, Worship and the JWs
by Sirona ini was reading the thread about "worldy churches" and it made me think about how the jws have a hatred of certain types of worship.. they hate anything "traditional" and state that it is corrupted (pagan).
they hate going into churches because they see religious symbolism like crosses, altars, candles and chalices.
big ornate churches are not beautiful to them, they are a symbol of satan.

I wonder how many times the WTS has pointed out the 'wrongs' of the Catholic church. Ya know, even though the protestant churches revolted, I don't think their official publications have to drag out old trash about the Catholic church in order to try to attract new members.

The eldery at the KH....
by Country Girl inwhile i was a kid at the kh, some of my most favorite people at the kingdom hall were the elderly.
i loved sitting by them, loved talking to them, and loved them giving me candy during the meeting, and then giving dirty looks to those younger folks that dared send them a nasty stare for my chomping of the gum they gave me.
my favorite people at the kingdom hall, and to this day, have been elderly people.

This is a refreshing post, thanks for sharing it. Too bad most of us don't value the gifts the elderly have to share with us. They are priceless.
One of my co-workers takes her kids to the nursing home as part of their 4-H reading project once a week. They take turns reading to individual patients; she says the kids are learning more from this project than any others. One of the ladies is a retired school teacher and will correct/help the kids on their pronunciation, etc. The kids were not impressed at first, and now they have respect for her and love to read to her!

"so there" huh? So, I guess we are NOT all Christians in God's love. This is the sad thing about JW's, they don't really know how to accept people for who they are. You had to get your little "dig" in by whistling a tune. It seems you are actually afraid of the demons around you in those churches, you need the fear that the WTS has instilled in you to survive. Sad.

by josephus inim not going to alter names on this as i think it deserves people knowing the individuals involved.. i was raised in a congregation in northern ireland.. today i heard that a great woman who i have known since she was a little girl has given birth to twin girls.
her name is louise fusco.. she has has serious internal bleeding and refused blood.
she now lies in the high dependancy unit of the royal victoria hospital in belfast, having had an emergency hysterectomy.

Things you find out when you go to a meeting...

i found it very long.
i talked to a brother that went to a meeting in the morning in his congregation, and decided to go to our meeting this afternoon also..... i talked to an elder who had a depression.
