There are thousands of JW's, they don't all know each other. Can you give an approximate location of this Ric dude? Maybe we can narrow it down and figure it out for you.

We have a sign on the door inside my church , too. It says Peace be With you. I would have no idea what they meant by Turn in Your Time if I was a visitor, but I would understand Peace be With you.

JW Mother Mourns Pope's Death
by homme perdu ini was surprised to discover how my mother felt about the passing of the pope.
she mentioned even though he is different (regarding religion) he is still human and death is always something painful.
i overheard her discussion with my grandfather and she said he did good things and jehovah can grant him resurrection.

I'm glad to hear of your mom's feelings; I wish she would share it with some JW's.
Also, to whoever posted about the Southern Baptist husband's comments...I am NOT surprised; I have heard a SB preacher spewing hatred about Catholics from the radio more than I care to count. Needless to say, I turn them off as soon as their hateful words come out. I'm glad you were able to educate your hubby.

Bless you Papa
by AuntieJane inthe pope is called papa in italy.
he may be a shell of the man he was, but many in this world have experience peace because of the work he did in his lifetime.
here is how he was instrumental in fighting communism.

I hope this thread stays alive for awhile, not because I started it. I don't care at all about that. But because I wish it would help some exJW's to find a bit of humanity, not bash an individual because of some distorted teachings they were bombarded with by the WTS. And there is proof that the Catholic church has been bashed more than any other faith in the WTS literature.
But this person, Pope John Paul II, has earned the respect of the world, and not just CNN...(which is normally my last choice for news coverage) ...but every major news media is sharing the history of this man, the love that he had for peace, the love that he had for others.

purplesofa, why not report it to your local law enforcement? I work in the judicial system and have seen the help that can be given to these kids....they get psychological help and at least have a chance at being normal. I urge you to call someone yourself.

Mental Migets
by mrsjones5 inyesterday, while i was folding and getting ready my papers for my saturday paper route, i was in the jw chatroom on yahoo.
there were quite a few jws there (which has become an unsual thing - most diehard jw chatters have gone to paltalk where the control over a chatroom is more rigid) and i engaged a couple of these jws.
i asked my usual stumper "is there any historical proof for the year 607 b.c.e.?

Wow, it never fails to amaze me that the JW mindset is so sad and controlled. And ready to jump out and DEFEND with their heads deep in the sand. I'm glad you are not among them anymore too. I never was a JW but stay around here to learn what some of my family members have been taught...very scary.

Did you ever see a TRULY happy JW?
by cyborgVision ini mean seriously, most of us have been inside for a number of years.
so during all this time did you ever see happy person or a family or were you ever truly happy there, even for a brief period of time?
if you were happy, when was it?

Hi Sad and Lonely, First of all Welcome. You will find many different people with all kinds of opinions on this board. They do not always make me happy. I was never a JW but have family who are and I have learned a lot from these people. So I invite you to stay around, open your mind to what they are saying. Many here have been hurt by the teachings of the WTS, perhaps if you stay awhile you will understand why.
I do feel bad to know you have chosen to be called Sad and Lonely. I hope you can change that name someday. By the way, are you raising your girls as JW's or have they been exposed to other Christian teachings? Just wondering...I'd like to hear from you. Oh, I'm a 55 year old Mom of 3 young adults, and you can send me a message if you just want to talk.

My Story
by JohnZogby ini have been dating an unbaptized jw girl for the past 2 years.
we are both 20 years old, and of course her parents did not approve of her dating me (they actually started out not minding, but have become more "spiritual" in the past years, and it then became a huge issue).
the only way her parents would allow her to date me, and im using the word date lightly, is if i started attending meetings and moving towards becoming a jw.

Hi, and although you aren't new, Welcome and thanks for sharing your story. I enjoy getting to "know" people here through their bios and stories.
Questions: How many of her family members are JW? Has she ever been on this board, or checked out any other site like this? If so, what's her reaction/opinion to "apostate" information? Did you grow up in any organized religion yourself?
My daughter dated a JW which is what brought me to this board; I also have a couple of family members involved...and I needed to learn a LOT. I can relate to where you are coming from.

How do you know when your spouse is cheating on you?
by Thegoodgirl inokay, i know this is personal, but i kind of like the annoninimity of the board versus asking my friends who are all also friends with my husband.. my husband went out of the country with a group from work this weekend.
i was supposed to go but had to cancel due to other stuff.
it turned out only 4 ended up going, my husband, a guy, and two women.
