  For those of you born in.....

  i want to say how brave i think all of you are for stepping out of the jw's, even if it's hidden (those of you still going).

  whenever witnesses would knock on our door, i always felt they were ok and just worshipping god in the way they felt was right.

  i never knew it came with soooo much stress and shunning if one does not comply.

  Good post. I don't think the majority of householders have a clue as to the harm that is done by the 'religion' followed by

  those nice people who knock on their door. If they only knew.....I do my part to let everyone know there is so much more

  to the teachings than the blood ban and holiday thing. So much more. People need to be educated.

  I, too, commend all you who were born in and had no choice...I am amazed at those who come from generations of JWs, and

  are able to break free of the chains.

  ok why havent we got the truth?

  ok as you have gathered im a wittness and i for one beleave we have the truth.not saying every thing is or has all ways been right because we live in a imperfect world with imperfect people.but as far as jehovah being god and jesus being his son.and the coming war of arrmegeddon.i would say we have the truth.i no about all the mistakes and misunderstandings we have had in the past.but i feel that is past and we have moved on.and abandoned i no what you all say about the year 607 being wrong but that date all deapends on it desolation was 70 years or not.so im just trying to understand how some of you say you lernt you was being lied to?

  PMJ, you said to me : thank you for that and i tottaly agree but you don' totally agree.

  See, the method I told you about, the KISS method...does not require you to search and figure

  dates, etc. All it requires is your simple faith in God, in Jesus Christ; and your following the

  rules that they gave us. Read Matthew, the Sermon on the Mount. All the principles we need are

  there. WE DO NOT NEED TO FIGURE DATES AND TIMES ETC. Loving your neighbor and God

  encompasses everything we need. By loving them both, we will act the way we need to and we will

  be with God forever after. No where did Jesus teach us about blood issues or figuring dates!

  Be true to yourself and open your mind,

  Peace.

  You know, I believe in the KISS method of religion. Keep It Simple Stupid. Even Jesus made it simple for us,

  "Love one another as I have loved you". This is my problem with the teachings of the WTS. The Bible is

  not a complex book for us to try to figure out the dates, etc. It is a guide for good living. The Truth? Even

  Jesus told us that "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. He who believes in me will have life everlasting."

  That is the truth that I adhere to.

  how do they pick and choose churches?

  is this what most jws believe?

  my jw mom would not go to my wedding in a methodist church because she said that my wife and her family attended that church, but when my daughter got married she said it was ok for her to go into the church my daughter was getting married at because neither my daughter or her husband attended church there.

  what is the difference?

  Who knows...they pick and choose as their 'conscience' allows them. Their guilt-ridden JW taught conscience.

  The saddest connection I have with this is that my brother, NOT a JW, not attending any church, died suddenly and

  having been born Catholic, was given a Catholic funeral. His JW son and daughter (both who entered the JW's in

  their 20's on their own)...stood by the door of the church during the entire service (which was very nice and many

  family and friends spoke of my brother, their dad, and said many good things. But these 2 and their kids stood like

  soldiers observing, from a distance. The fear of Satan, I suppose; I say it was Satan himself who put them there.

  Whatever! The hurt inflicted by the WTS at times like this is too much.

  Hi Becka, how did your Christmas go? I hope you don't waste too much more of your life with a JW who boldly tells you hates Christmas. Truly, how can you love someone who has no sensitivity toward your feelings? Sorry, didn't mean to come off so harshly but I'd seen your first posts (my daughter dated a non-baptized JW too...dated, past tense)...and as a "mom" I can't help but give you my opinion!

  Think about it. The only reason to date someone should be to see if they are the one you'd want to spend the rest of your life with. He has already shown himself to be insensitive to what you are all about. And he wants to have sex. How nice. He's playing with you, imo. You sound way too sweet and caring to lose these precious months, years of your life to someone who has stifled his sensitivities due to cult-teachings. I pity people like him, but have come to realize most of them don't know how to get out of the thinking they've learned and in the meantime they just hurt others who care about them.

  Real love begins with yourself. Find an AA website and follow the steps, just to help you get away from

  that destructive drinking. If you have really been drinnking as much as you say, you will have trouble slowing it

  down. When you get away from that and the JW thinking, those layers will peel off and you will find YOU,

  (who sounds like a good hearted, caring person that needs to love himself first)
