Organ transplants have always been a sore point with me. I think they changed the teaching on that in 1980, which was very good for me because in 1994 I received a kidney transplant. If they didn't change that unscriptual teaching I would not have considered having one. As long as I believed in them speaking for God I would not have had the operation. This is just another example of men putting words in God's mouth.

The definition of an apostate is one who has abandoned his religious faith. I was baptized in 1974. The religion I joined believed that Jesus selected the Bible Students in 1919 to do a separating work. We had to preach to find the sheep like ones. It was vital that we carry out this work or we might be bloodguilty. The gates of heaven were closed as of 1935, so we were only looking for the other sheep. We had to drop everything and preach because within 80 years of 1914, maybe 90 years if the generation were mighty, the end would be here. Time was of the essence.
These teachings no longer exist. The gates of heaven have been re-opened for new anointed ones. The separating work is not being carried out at this time. It is Jesus who will do it in the future. The generation of 1914 isn’t the generation Jesus was speaking about. If fact, Jesus wasn’t speaking of a literal generation, but was speaking of any anointed ones living or perhaps will be living in the future.
The point I am trying to make is that the religion I joined apostatized itself.
When I realized that this was a different religion, I started researching everything I could.
Please, anyone who reads this who is an active Witness, think about these changes. Can it really be considered the same religion. These were some of the primary teachings and now they are gone.
Ask yourself, why would Jehovah allow all these false teachings to be believed for so many years? Could Jehovah really be behind these teachings? Would Jehovah misdirect his people? If not, then can this really be the "Truth"? Don’t be afraid to examine the Society’s teachings.
When I was going to the meetings, I could never understand why the Society was so afraid of apostate material. I always thought if what they are saying is false and we are losing people to them, then why not print what the apostates are saying and show how wrong it is. I kept expecting the Society to print something. Now after doing much research I understand why they don’t. The Society’s teachings can not stand up to scrutiny.
Don’t be afraid. Do your own research. If it is the "Truth" then it will stand up to examination. If it isn’t then it will fall like a house built on sand.

Was Jerusalem REALLY desolate for 70 years??? Take a quick look......
by Lady Liberty incheck out jeremiah 52:30 in the new world translation, it says:29 in the eighteenth year of nebuchadrez zar, from jerusalem there were eight hundred and thirty-two souls.30 in the twenty-third year of nebuchadrez zar, nebu zarad an the chief of the bodyguard took jews into exile, seven hundred and forty-five souls.all the souls were four thousand and six hundred.
what this shows is the societys teaching that jerusalem was desolate, is not supported by scripture.
it was not literal.. it was in nebuchadnezzars 18th reignal year that he burned down jerusalem.

Unfortunately, the Society explains verse 23 this way.
Later
ExilesofJews. About three years later, in the 23rd year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, more Jews were taken into exile. (Jer 52:30) This exile probably involved Jews who had fled to lands that were later conquered by the Babylonians. Lending support to this conclusion is the statement of the historian Josephus: "In the fifth year after the sacking of Jerusalem, which was the twenty-third year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar marched against Coele-Syria and, after occupying it, made war both on the Moabites and the Ammanites. Then, after making these nations subject to him, he invaded Egypt in order to subdue it."—JewishAntiquities, X, 181, 182 (ix, 7)
That was a quote from the Insight book p.481, but the AID book has the same wording.
Even though Josephus doesn't mention any Jews being taken captive in this excerpt, my sister will say the Society is correct.

This is from the Insight book under the heading of Captivity. "Faithful Jeremiah proved to be the one giving the correct length of the desolation of Jerusalem and Judah as 70 years, after which time restoration would come."
I appologize for the mistake. I thought the Society taught that it was only Jerusalem desolated.
This is a great find. I will point this scripture out the next time I see my sister. Thank you Lady Liberty

Thank you Lady Liberty
Very interesting, but if I was a witness and you showed me this scripture, I would point out that verse 30 doesn't mention Jerusalem. It only mentions Jews being brought into exile. They could be from anywhere in Israel. Maybe I am wrong, but that is how it appears to me.
Oh by the way, I believe that the bible meant seventy years of servitude also.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions regarding "attention seekers"?
by BonaFide inwe all love it when people pay attention to us or our opinions.
but what i am talking about is people who crave and force attention from others.
not just people who talk a lot, but those that force everyone around them to focus on them and them only.. in one of my classes there is a woman who raises her hand to ask a question, but never really has a question to ask.

It is best to ignore their comments. They are not written for anything other than for attention. Also its best to stop starting threads about them. If they can't show self control perhaps we can.

If The Jehovah's Witnesses Continued or Ceased Would You Be Greatly Affected?
by minimus indoes the fact that jws still exist have any effect upon you?.
-
IWillBeDubbedNoMore
Since most of my family are witnesses, I am and will continue to be affected by their existence. If they cease to exist I will still be affected. If that did happen, I would be involved with helping my family cope with the loss of the fantasy. I have some members who have been in it from birth and are in their 70.s. I believe it would be much harder for them to cope then the younger ones. I wouldn't want them to go through the loss of everything they have ever believed in. If their eyes are opened on their own wonderful, but I wouldn't want their world to collapse.

The most absurd comments yet about oral sex !!!

He was partially correct. It can cause cancer, but is extremely rare. Doctors have not been instructed to check their mouths. What a loon.
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn4712
Oral sex can lead to oral tumours. That is the conclusion of researchers who have proved what has long been suspected, that the human papilloma virus can cause oral cancers.
The risk, thankfully, is tiny. Only around 1 in 10,000 people develop oral tumours each year, and most cases are probably caused by two other popular recreational pursuits: smoking and drinking. The researchers are not recommending any changes in behaviour.

The Spain Branch will pay now to: bethelites, special pioneers, Circuit y Distric and missionaires
by JHK inthe spain branch, now will pay directly to: bethelites, special pioneers, circuit, district and missionaries... with our money!
the congregations must not given money to the full time ministers.
the governing body bank wants to have all money in its hands.

According to this summary of Spain's pension plan dated 2001, the Society has to pay 23.6 % and the "employee" has to pay 4.7%. Perhaps the Society collecting the money and paying it out so they can deduct the 4.7%. If the congregation paid them directly, the Society might have to foot the whole 23.6%.
http://www.urban.org/pdfs/eu_event_spain.pdf
Found on page 8:
The contribution rate for the General Scheme is 28.3 percent, of which 23.6 percent is
paid by the company and 4.7 percent by the worker. This type is the same for special
schemes for maritime and coal mining workers and for the special scheme of selfemployed
workers, although in the latter, contribution is made solely by the selfemployed
worker. The agricultural workers and domestic workers have different rates
and distributions, and in any case, are lower. There is also a specific contribution to
finance unemployment benefits and those arising from work-related accidents.
