DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!

i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

JW Opinions on Obama
by feenx ini haven't been on here much, including during the recent election.
i am curious if anyone knows what the opinions, official as well as non-official or "gossip" *gasp*, on the election and obama.
i remember as a kid my mother would always complain so much around election time, just like xmas, because she hated it so much.

Brenda Wood and David Hughes are with a group of nine Jehovah's Witnesses visiting McDowell from Miami this week. Their opinion was that education is vitally important, not only to furthering a student's chances of prosperity but also to avoiding the pitfalls and temptations of youth.
If the president takes a personal interest in encouraging kids to stay in school, said Wood, that's a good thing, and an example all should follow.

One time my little cousin and myself went to a door and the elderly man that answered the door was smiling ear to ear. He invited us in and called for his wife saying " Look who is here". We where standing in their living room with the two of them joyfully looking at us. I knew something wasn't right. Then one of them asked us something family related and I realized they thought we were their grandchildren. So, I said we are JWs and the expressions on their faces changed immediately and we were shown the door.
On another occasion with the same cousin, we were at a house that had an enclosed porch. As I knocked on the door a big great dane starts barking and jumping up on the screen door. I tell my cousin let's go and we start walking away. We get about ten feet from the door and the dog breaks through the screen and comes after us. I tell my cousin to get behind me and I hold up my book bag between us and the dog and keep screaming at the dog. Luckily the owner heard me yelling and ran out and grabbed the dog. Then he starts yelling at us. That we should be more careful going on people's property.
One more. A young brother and myself went up to a house and rang the bell. We stood there talking for awhile as no one came to the door. We rang the bell again and started to walk away when the door opened. It was a girl about our age and only her head was peeking out from behind the door. She was cute. I gave my speech and offered he the magazines asking for whatever amount they were going for then. She said that she wanted them, but would we wait, because she was naked and had to put something on. I said with a big grin that we would gladly wait. She closed the door and we waited. She returned shortly in a short bathrobe and a dollar and took the mags. I asked if I could come back and ask her opinion of the mags. She said yes and we left. Never found her home again.

Anybody's Story

somebody got angry about that because it was everybody's job.
anybody could have done it, but nobody realised that everybody wouldn't do it.

Should JWs in banned lands be going underground?
by cognac inon the one hand, daniel still worshipped god the way he was before when it was law that he wasn't supposed to.
on the other hand, it is said in the greek scriptures to flee the land if people go against you when preaching.. so, to me this would mean that jws should go to where people would be receptive to the message if they can.
however, if they jws don't flee the city then they should follow as daniel and continue what they were doing before - publicly going from house to house and to the meetings.

Halloween- When you were a JW did you answer the door?

she opens the door and there are several costumed children saying "trick of treat".
the jw mother says that they don't participate in such activities.

Cicatrix: The hell comment irritated me also. So did the idea of a carnival being prohibited. I thought at the time, that the movie made us look like fanatics. Little did I know.

Ouija Board Hysteria
by Megachusen ini always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.
does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.

AK - Jeff I believe you believe it happened.
I don't know if this would have anything to do with what you experienced, but I was at a study one night at a brother's home and we were talking about his children seeing a giant clown in their room and it was scaring them. While we were talking the kids started screaming. We ran to the room and the kids were frightened because they had seen the clown. It was eerie. Later, I realized that the kid's bedroom was near the room we were talking and the kid's door was open. I am sure that listening to our conversation built up their fear to the point of seeing it. They were little kids no older than eight.
This brother had other stories of encounters. I think these children were primed by their father's stories to see things in the dark.
