i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
Hi Too Opinionated. Yes, I can confirm the Lay's were living in the Milwaukee area at least about 6 years ago. I talked on the phone with David about that time about a job (he was getting into selling long-distance telephone service). I was already employed and had already been burned with that kind of a self-employed no income witness/sales job before so I said 'no thanks I am not interested'.

Very facinating stuff! The theory of the big bang starting in a white hole is awesome to think about. I personally think it is quite a strong possibility that other universes exist. In astrophysics, a white hole is the time reversal of a black hole. While a black hole acts as an absorber for any matter that crosses the event horizon, a white hole acts as a source that ejects matter from its event horizon. The sign of the acceleration is invariant under time reversal, so both black and white holes attract matter. The only potential difference between them is in the behavior at the horizon.
Hawking argued that white holes are the same as black holes, once quantum mechanics is taken into account.

To make a long story short, there is no possible way for a white hole to exist. Mathematically, black hole horizons can only absorb matter, while white hole horizons ostensibly recede from any incoming matter at the local speed of light, so that the infalling matter never crosses. The infalling matter is then scattered and reemitted at the death of the white hole, receding to infinity after having come very very close to the final singular point where the white hole is destroyed. The total proper time until an infalling object encounters the singular endpoint is the same as the proper time to be swallowed by a black hole, so the white hole picture does not say what happens to the infalling matter. Ignoring the classically unpredictable emissions of the white hole, the white hole and black hole are indistinguishable for external observers.
In quantum mechanics, the black hole emits Hawking radiation, and so can come to thermal equilibrium with a gas of radiation. Since a thermal equilbrium state is time reversal invariant, Hawking argued that the time reverse of a black hole in thermal equilibrium is again a black hole in thermal equilibrium.[1] This implies that black holes and white holes are the same object. The Hawking radiation from an ordinary black hole is then identified with the white hole emission. Hawking's semi-classical argument is reproduced in a quantum mechanical AdS/CFT treatment[2], where a black hole in Anti De Sitter space is described by a thermal gas in a gauge theory, whose time reversal is the same as itself.

White holes appear as part of the vacuum solution to the Einstein field equations describing a Schwarzschild wormhole. One end of this type of wormhole is a black hole, drawing in matter, and the other is a white hole, emitting matter. While this gives the impression that black holes in this universe may connect to white holes elsewhere, this turns out not to be the case for two reasons. First, Schwarzschild wormholes are unstable, disconnecting as soon as they form. Second, Schwarzschild wormholes are only a solution to the Einstein field equations in vacuum (when no matter interacts with the hole). Real black holes are formed by the collapse of stars. When the infalling stellar matter is added to a diagram of a black hole's history, it removes the part of the diagram corresponding to the white hole [1].
The existence of white holes that are not part of a wormhole is doubtful, as they appear to violate the second law of thermodynamics.
Quasars and active galactic nuclei are observed to spew out jets of matter. This is now believed to be the result of polar jets formed when matter falls into supermassive black holes at the centers of these objects. Prior to this model, white holes emitting matter were one possible explanation proposed.

A more recently proposed view of black holes might be interpreted as shedding some light on the nature of classical white holes. Some researchers proposed that when a black hole forms, a big bang occurs at the core which creates a new universe that expands into extra dimensions outside of the parent universe[3]. The initial feeding of matter from the parent universe's black hole and the expansion that follows in the new universe might be thought of as a cosmological type of white hole. Unlike traditional white holes, this type of white hole would not be localized in space in the new universe and its horizon would have to be identified with the cosmological horizon.

The organizer has alot of contact with Richard Dawkins so I thought perhaps this group would be interesting to meet with. I was wrong. I think perhaps they forgot the human in humanist. It seemed to be mainly a group of negative grumpy people who besides complaining enjoyed mostly talking about science fiction books (I can only take that so far...). Maybe this was an isolated case but it occurred to me that atheist/agnostic groups need to work on offering more positives rather than only focusing on the negative. Anyone else have experience with this?

since I'm "out of the loop" having personally spoken with God, seen evidence of holy spirit, etc, including, of course, the arrangement by Jehovah for me to have a photo of the "sign of the son of man", an image confirmed to be seen by others by the Revelation Book. So ultimately while many wonder whether there is a God or not, I'm not in a position to speculate any more. I am in a position to have a good laugh, however.Hey J, I was wondering if you could post a pic of your legs?...just wondering...Same old routine, though. In Noah's day nobody believed in rain. But eventually they all became true believers. When Armageddon starts, there will be a severe shortage of atheists, "rational" ones or otherwise!

i say mine is english with an admixture of german (before the nazis ever existed, no need to go on about that) northern french and italian from venice.
i look northern european and feel close to that part of the world with family tradition being roman catholic.

we know that we can't always take the direct approach and we know that even a short, reasonable discussion is often out of the question with jw's we may love dearly so we often try to place a little doubt in their minds.
we want them to start questioning cherished beliefs.. is this fair of us?
are we placing our our own agendas ahead of their needs?
In my opinion it is freedom of thought and speech that matter most. We should speak our minds freely to JDubs. Whether they have doubts after we speek to them is not a problem whatsoever. They also should be allowed to speek freely to us. I'm o.k. with that. We all should be able to research and talk openly and decide for ourselves what we will believe.

My EXPERIENCE while in told me there was something wrong with the borg. It's hard to be ignorant when experience touches you. Learning what I have learned from research only backed up my experience and helped free me mentally from believing I couldn't live without it anyway.
as a young dub in the 80's me along with many of my friends got married, either in our teens or early 20's.. in my area, if you were over 25 and not married, it was percieved that something was wrong with you or you were probably engaging in sex with a "worldly" person.. by why did so many of us feel the need to get married so young?.
i believe it was because of one of three reasons.. 1. you wanted to get out of your parets home.. 2. you had already gone "too far" with you girlfriend or boyfriend.. 3. you were just an average normal teenager and you knew this was the only way you could legally have sex.. .
was this true in your area?.
Well, I was married at 20. Figured I was a grown up since I was a pioneer and m.s. I was VERY emotionally lonely and figured this would solve that. Figured I was in love, maybe I was or maybe mostly infatuated as they say. Also, my privates were lonely. Pretty stupid reasons now that I think of it...
