At this point, I'm willing to discount the whole idea of this supposed article. So many comments about it, but not one scan?
I'm with you on this one...
the feb 1, 2008 wt has an article on p. 28 called finding fulfillment as a mother.
the article basically states that moms should not work outside of the home but stay at home with their kids to teach them things about jehovah.
it also states that moms that want to work outside the home full-time do so not out of economic necessity but to boost their self worth, to obtain financial independence or to pay for luxuries.

I would like to see an actual scan of this. Anyone?
even though the bible does not condemn hunting watch them push their personal opinion and trun it into watchtower law.. watchtower dec 1 2007 p.31 "how should christians view hunting?
} "the bible does not condemn hunting or fishing.." {great leave it there..no need to push personal thoughts on brothers, right?
} ".....the apostles who were fisherman were likely gratified by a good catch.
Some who hunt or fish for food may feel justified in putting aside spiritual matters during hunting and fishing seasons. However, we show faith and trust in God when we do not let anything take priority of his interests."
As one sister put it in a comment at a book study one time...'God helps those who help themselves...' These WT writers are dopes!
i just found out that a dear friend of mine was outed by a poster on this board!!!
i am soooooo angry and disgusted it's hard to contain at the moment!
so to all those out there that are trying to fade and get other family members out, don't let anyone know who you are!!!
There are worse things than being outed...now that poster can be free and honest...cheers to those not bound by the Watchtowers chains!
a lot of exjws need an answer to "where else to go?
" and some people seem to need to belong to an organization.
doing some research on answers.yahoo.com i noticed that both jws and mormons come in for a lot of criticism for being manipulative cults.
I have seen ex-seventh day adventists discussion boards much like the one we are on that rail against their former religion. In that way it is much the same as mormons and witnesses. I don't have any desire to go to a sda church but I would say it is better than the jw religion in that they can vote, join the military, get involved in after school activities...however they are not supposed to drink alcohol. They still are too fundamentalist in there beliefs for my taste.
That being said, I do have seventh-day adventist relatives who have been very kind to me since I left the borg sort of a replacement family to some extent. They don't seem to mind what religion anyone comes from and don't like how pushy witnesses are. They don't seem to mind that I don't go to church or that I refuse to say a prayer when asked at their mealtimes either. See my experience at the below link:
A black president that won't salute the American flag, and has a father that is an extremist Muslim.
Good choice.
Hubert
According to "The Audacity of Hope" by Obama this is far from the truth. Obama's father was raised a Muslim but by the time he met Obama's mom he was a confirmed atheist.
Obama's mother's second husband was also a skeptic who didn't see religion as very useful.
Obama's mom was against organized religion but taught Obama about all religions keeping scriptures from all the major religions available to him. Also, taking him to a variety of different worship sites. She was a lover of science. So is Obama. He believes in evolution. He is a christian however he is a very liberal christian. His faith has more to do with social change and personal salvation (that is, to make oneself more healthy spiritually). He is not even sure if there is life after death.
for those of you attending kingdom hell meetings, let us know how this.
(yawn) exciting change goes over.
let us know how many speakers went .
I think it would have been smarter for them to shorten the Thursday meeting instead of the Sunday meeting. That is the meeting less people attend and even less stay awake for. Oh well, I'm just glad I don't go to any of them anymore...
Do you seriously thin Middle America is ready for him?
I don't think Middle America is the problem...Jesusland is the problem... Click on link below...yes it's worth it! http://www.bettybowers.com/nl_redorblue.html
i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
Bavman-DH = dear husband
Lol! I gottchta now....sorry to hear that he bought into that though. Say hello to DH for me...hope he is well....

Bavman-Hello!
In 2000 DH bought into David's phone business-what a waste of $! I always thought it was a bit strange how excited David got about the thought of Europe opening up for him with all of his contacts. Just seemed so "worldly" for him.
I'm about 800 emails behind-I am looking for your card now, and thanks!
Who is DH? PM me if you like. Yeah, I was always uncomfortable when witnesses felt like they should canvas the "brothers" to make a buck. I wasn't too surprised to hear David talk like that though because I had already seen it many times with "brothers". Another example of hypocrisy I guess...But then a dudes got to make a living and the pressure is great when you leave Bethel with no job and people to take care of.
