The sort of person that gets to be an Elder?????

do you think that the better the job that you have or the higher the social standing you have, makes it more likely that you will be an elder in comparison to those that are less fortunate???

followed by field service to use the "info" learned right away!
If the person is a pioneer they can count up to 25 hours a month of these classes as
pioneer time!
Can you believe this. Is class really preaching?

Baby's "second head" removed -- no moral issues described?
by AlmostAtheist inin this news article, a baby is described as being born with a second head, referred to as "the parasite".
as a parent, i would have had a hard time looking at this under-developed conjoined twin as a "parasite".
it really looks like a second child, though one incapable of independant life.

I have a couple of healthy babies, and I thank that they came OK. When wife was pregnant, it was always in my mind.
This is another reason I am loosing my faith in "Jehovah". If Adam sinned.... should not we get sick as we get old and die? (only!)
Why are babies and children suffering?
I should start a thread on this, and see what other people think!

Why Let The Elders Tell You What To Do?
by minimus inif any are still going to meetings or allowing the organization to control you, i'd like to know why are you allowing the elders to dictate to you what is right and wrong.
the elders are no better than you!

Every time they say "I've missed you at the meeting.... is everything fine?" or "how are you feeling"
I say..... "everything is A OK!"
I never conversate on anything other than generalities. And I tell my wife to keep dirty diapers in the house.
I also make my wife know--> how everytime her Mom blabbers her mouth.... the whole world knows!

Why did they change the sterilization beliefs?
by mkr32208 ini posted this on another thread but it suddenly seemed more important and i wanted to get some opinions!
i was still a dub when sterilization changed from a consciences matter to a no-no.
i remarked to my wife at the time that i thought the reason for this was a declining membership!

What ablout female steralization? Is that also forbidden?
Sure, any permanent sterilization is illegal, even if it can be reversed.
They are heartless, and rather be legalistic -vs- looking at the needs and desires of people. Look at their beliefs on sperm donation and invitro, etc.......

How long till the WTS tells you that its your responsibility to have lots of kids, maybe ties it into what a good witness it would bring for some cornball reason

watchtower red flags
by Ticker inwhen i was studying and in the org i never did put two and two together becuase first off it was peer pressure and a young baptism age.
i was indoctrinated as a child so i never got a chance to ever use sound reason and judgement toword the validity of the society's claims.
but anywho i was thinking the other day about certain things that are obvious red flags and far fetched claims that the org makes.

Hey, I skipped the "elders and Ms" meeting with the overseer last time!
shame on me! All the elders called the same night to make sure "I was OK"!
They never call if by chance I miss a regular meeting!

Shortage of skilled labourers to work at Bethel??

Bethel life is true Borg structure.
I know plenty of them. They are so hard up for cash, that if they do specialty work for congregations on their spare time, they expect to be tipped!
The only winners are the ones there for over 15-25 years... they get good rooms, plenty of vacations, and they know so many people that these will pay for their cars, and vacations!
