  my sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.

  i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land,with us, should she need it.

  even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer,elder,bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

  essentially this is the situation: there are three voluntary donations boxes in your kingdom hall, one for your own kingdom hall's running costs, one for the kingdom hall building fund, (khbf) and one for the worldwide work.. the latter should be the only one necessary for the org, because by definition the worldwide work encompasses every aspect.

  about a month ago, i wrote a post about a sister that keeps coming to my apartment giving me watchtowers.

  i called her an older sister.

  she is in her late 50's.

  long story short.

  i left the wbt$ and was forcibly da'd for attending a church.. wifey says she 'chooses' not to talk to me about 'spiritual'(tm) matters.

  i told wifey that she didn't 'choose' but was told not to talk to me about such matters by some men in brooklyn.

  Sorry for you, things like this make your wife and the typical JW feel good about themselves

  they need a pat on the back, and slander!

  My MIL has problems galore, but god forbid you say something out of line, and within 10 minutes she will call (10 elders, her 4 sisters, 15 women in the kingdom hall, and 20 other miscellaneous people)

  it sucks when you have nothing to say!

  Jacob wrestled with God?

  one story in the bible that always left me puzzled was the story of jacob wrestling with the man/angel/god.

  whoever it was that was wrestling with him was said not to have been able to overpower jacob so he disjointed his hip.

  at the end of the account it said jacob named the place peniel because "there i saw god face to face and and yet my life was spared.".

  go and read it again at acts 5: 11. ananias and sapphira drop dead at peter's feet for "playing false to god/holy spirit" by not giving all of the money to peter that they got from a field they sold.

  ananias and sapphira were christians.

  they wanted to help the poor and so sold one of their possessions, a field, and gave most of the money to peter.
