i cheated on my wife and i told her what happend and she forgave me......but she told my sister #1(baptized but doesn't go to meetings) what happend.

then sister #1 proceeded to tell sister #2 (die hard witness).

now sis #2 is giving me till wed to turn myself in or she is going to do it.

So sorry your first posts are getting such harsh responses. I also mentioned adultery on another thread and got ripped to shreads - when the person doing the ripping had no idea what the details were. It just shows they are still JW at heart (judgemental and black and white thinkers). Being a JW we didn't really learn to think logically or independently and that often leads to poor decisions. Now you are trying to sort things out and I respect you opening yourself up to some feedback.

I wish you the best and hope you stick around here for a while. There really are some very nice, understanding, kind and supportive people here.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Hassan says as long as they are breathing there is hope. I have doubts too - my mom is so far gone.

On the 1914 issue my favorite point is that they had to change the masthead on the Awake magazine in 1995. Is your mom aware of that? From what I understand they did it quietly so some did not even notice. I'll try to find the quote for you -- but the changed "the creator's PROMISE." It just blows me away that JW's don't even care about that. Why call it a promise if its really just a typo?

Your mom at least listens a little....maybe you have planted a seed or two. Prayer though may be your best bet, IMO.

yesterday i saw two women walking slowly around the end of our street, waiting on porches of empty homes.

i told my husband, "look, there are 2 jws.

we haven't had them come here for 4 years--ever since i mentioned that i had some serious questions (but had never enumerated any points at all).

i was wondering for those unlike myself, born into the borg, what made you come.

what did they show you that changed your view of religion or god.

there is an elder in my dad's congregation who trys to preach to me when i visit.

Gee, Confused...when you put it that way its kind of sad that it didn't work out for you.

I was born into it and I've often wondered the same thing....how do adults get hooked. I know for my mom they "tickled her ears" with the promise of seeing her dead baby again (alive). She still clings to that one thing and has walked away from her 2 now-living children for this hope.

I wonder if you are sort of hoping they will DF you so the decision will be made for you?? I'm wondering that because that's kind of what happened to me. I was so tired of everyone on my back to pioneer - so instead of speaking my truth - I did a lot of stuff to get DF.

It sounds like you've been given a lot of really sound advice on this thread.

I say that's quite a manipulation of the account. And a pathetic attempt to demonstrate that God practices their evil disfellowshipping doctrine.

1. Just because we don't have documentation of their communication does not mean it did not happen. There are probably other accounts or stories that end and we have no further proof of God's communication - but they probably wouldn't say God quit speaking to them.

2. There is not scriptural proof (that I'm aware of) that says God quit speaking to Adam.

3. God told Adam exactly what his punishment would be: death (900 years later), having to work the land for food, ...... okay I can't remember it all - but I know one of the other 2 things was not "and I will never speak to you again! So there!" Kinda like a 3 year old, "You're not my best friend anymore."

4. It was not necessary at that point to continue the Adam and Eve story because the Cain/Abel murder story came up.

It really burns me up when they abuse the Bible and call it holy.

number 1 son, simon, is now living in coventry with his beloved lady and his little lad, charlie.. yesterday, hl and i went to visit them.

it's only a 2 1/2 hour run, so we just popped up for lunch.. while we were eating our lunch by the window, we spotted several people walking slowly up the street.

Let me see if I understand. First she lied to you (uh - a few (silly) people thought that). Then she admitted partial truth (Lots of people thought that - but not because they were taught it was Truth(tm) by the FDS) so that she could manipulate you with another lie (we've only made ONE mistake).

Please. I'm going to go throw up now.

By the way Eman - you did an awesome job--- you gently planted a seed!!! If that were my mom or my child I would be so thankful to you!!

i read many "apostate" books before i left the "truth".

mentally, i was drifting away for years.

but i do think that the internet really made it easy to see all the evidence that overwhelmingly showed jws do not have the "truth".....was the 'net instrumental in getting you out?

This is sad but true - I had been out for 18 years before finding any information on the internet. But what it did do for me was satisfy any remaining doubts or questions. Before the internet I didn't think there was any way to know for sure about the WTBTS - Boy do I know for sure now!!! I am also in a better position to help others who may be confused or questioning -- or interested in the JW's.

So THANK YOU Simon, Randy, Quotes, Ray Franz, Steven Hassan and everyone on this board for finally freeing my mind the rest of the way!!

arguing with a dub....or....how I learned to be apostate and love it

recently, a jw relative tried to discuss my "spiritual well-being" with me.

i have had conversations in the past with this same relative concerning 607 vs 586/587 and 1914. no matter what i said, it went in one ear and out the other.

it was like talking to a brick wall.

It will never cease to amaze me that a person can listen to all that and still walk away with their ~~belief~~ denial system operating at full speed.

I guess the good thing about this person reporting you is that they will have to repeat what you said which will serve to reinforce it in their mind and will also expose another person to the truth!! So sorry you may be labled an evil apostate now.

when i was a teenager, one of my friends started dating a jw.

he "wasn't into his religion, just his parents were.

" she ended up pregnant, quit school to get married and after that, we pretty much only saw her standing on street corners or in mcd's on sunday mornings after meetings, with her (3 i think) little boys all dressed up in their shirts and ties.

I think you are right on target. Unless his parents are dead, why else would the rest of the family be listed and not the parents. Sounds like shunning to me and sounds like his folks are going to miss out on one of their child's most important moments. So sad for all. Good for you for spotting the cult at work!
