Questions about Jehovahs Witness???

charles taze russell, founded the jw in the 1860's.

which is based on his own interpretations of the bible.

he had no theology education, and did not know the greek, and hebrew language.. question: how can an average man, with "no" education, interpret the bible correctly?.

If there are JW's on this site I would imagine that the only reason they are still JW's is that they have not yet been caught on this message board. Once caught participating in an apostate forum they will be quickly and assuredly booted from the JW organization. So I am left to wonder if a these people are REAL JW's then since they obviously don't adhere to JW doctrines.

As to the posted question. They are good questions. Another good question is concerning Russell's involvement in the Freemasons and pyramidology.

i read the thread yesterday about apostates and started wondering about your families.

i am thinking about writing a letter to my mom and sharing with her some of the things i have learned about the jw's but also realize that this will make me an apostate and will worsen an already distant and painful relationship.

i am hoping that some of you will share your experiences on what impact your outspoken "apostacy" has had on your families - how have they reacted to you.

I am hoping that some of you will share your experiences on what impact your outspoken "apostacy" has had on your families - how have they reacted to you.

I also feel a bit obligated to share the information with her. I am sure she would never look at any information on her own. I also have a conflicting feeling that its her choice and the information is out there if she wants to know.

Any advice is welcome.

Welcome to the board. Great post. I was also thinking of starting a thread about book recommendations. I've only read Ray Franz Crisis of Conscious and highly recommend it. I literally couldn't put it down. It was very disturbing though - lots of irrefutable information.

Looking forward to checking back on this thread.

Had the 'talk' w/ my dad last night.....

if y'all remember, i posted a couple of days ago that i'd had the 'talk' w/ my mom and it went really well.

well, at her request, i had the 'talk' w/ my dad.

mind you, he's been in the truth since the mid-50's, elder, pioneer, etc, etc.

TT - so glad to hear your dad is not totally braindead - like you ex. Jeez - sounds like my mom!

I imagine if you celebrate your daughters B-day, give her Xmas presents and don't make her go out in service - she will choose your lifestyle. My dad wasn't a JW but he made me keep going to meetings even when I begged him to not make me. I think he was afraid of my mom!

Farkel - I am an aspiring Formidable Apostate. Please share with me some of your more succesful tactics for freeing JW's from the WTBTS. I don't really try because it seems so pointless. I'd love to get my mom out! Hey! you could start a business where people pay you to get their loved ones out!!! Hell, I'd pay good money to see it happen!

Wow! That sounds EXACTLY like something my mom would say. Its all part of the "script."

I don't know your situation or your story - but I really doubt if satan has you. That's a scare tactic - you don't have to buy into it. I read somewhere - don't know where - that satan enjoys a yearly laugh at the memorial service in which he gets millions of JW's to refuse to participate in the wine/bread ceremony. Its actually a satanic ritual! Hahaha

Anyway, I also have spent a lot of time in therapy and it has helped me a great deal. Please reach out for support from positive people who can accept you without giving you a guilt trip. You KNOW where your own heart is. I don't believe satan can take me against my will. The JW's aren't MY path to God - and I don't believe they are a path to God at all. It's a path to the Watchtower bible and Tract Society.

I have also found a lot of support on this board. Keep reading and be true to yourself.

That's the real question!! Any speculation as to what led them to give these orders....I mean suggestions? ahem.

Why don't they stop using watchtowers then - and only use the bible. Since it is the same thing, afterall.

Just got Crisis of Conscience

just got my mail order copy of crisis of conscience... got to chapter 2 in the first 20 mins!!!.

who else has read it, and what are your thoughts ???.

i've enjoyed it so far, and am glad to see how respectful ray franz was in his writing, with no 'outright attacks' on the wtbts.. bull!

I was DF'ed for 18 years - just read the book last month. It totally blew me away. When I left I never really gave the JW's a second thought...just glad to be out. But really also felt like I wouldn't REALLY know the "truth" about the Truth(tm) unless (A)Armageddon came or (B)I died...(oh yea...same as (A)--haha). Little did I know all I really had to do was type "jehovah witness" into the computer and read a book.

It was very disturbing to me to know for certain about the WTBTS and to know that so many people - including my mom - still fall for their BS 100% without question.

I highly recommend it. But I also think it could be very disturbing to people more involved or more affected by the JW's than I am. It's quite a betrayal. I can remember when I was in and heard about all the hoopla that happened at Bethel with Ray Franz. Admittedly, I accepted what was handed down about his apostacy - I was very young though. I don't know how older people have resisted reading his book.

I have also been wondering what I should read next...INSOCF or Steve Hassan's book. So looking forward to more suggestions also.

My sad start to the day.

to all you animal lovers out there.. i awoke this morning to find that my dog had passed away during the night.. he was a golden retriever cross and the baby of the family.

he loved the kids and would lie down so my 2 year old could sit and lie on him.. he dug out of the back yard and got into my gardening stuff.

he ate half a box of snail bait.. i'm feeling really guilty, sould not have left it out.

I am so sorry for your loss. My dog recently unzipped my suitcase and ate a ton of chocolate covered raisins and coffee beans. He was sooo sick - I have no idea how he opened the suitcase!

I know its just like losing a family member and so many people just don't get it.
