That's the latest from the assembly. They don't want you quoting the Watchtower as the source for decisions. I wonder why.....
"Don't Say The WATCHTOWER Says This.....Say The Bible Says It"

You mean the watchtower isn't their final source for decisions? Their final authority?
But the bible remains static while the watchtower is dynamic, always moving ahead, dispensing new light. It helps people 'keep in step' with the organization.
The watchtower is far more versitile, and can be changed at a moment's notice!
That's a real shock to me!

4 In order to avoid misunderstandings, Jehovah?s Witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves. Instead of saying, "the Society teaches," many Witnesses prefer to use such expressions as, "the Bible says" or, "I understand the Bible to teach." In this way they emphasize the personal decision that each Witness has made in accepting Bible teachings and also avoid giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect. Of course, suggestions as regards terminology should never become a subject of controversy. After all, terminology is of importance only to the extent that it prevents misunderstandings. Christian balance is required. The Bible admonishes us "not to fight about words." (2 Timothy 2:14, 15) The Scriptures also state this principle: "Unless you through the tongue utter speech easily understood, how will it be known what is being spoken?"?1 Corinthians 14:9. -

The problem with the Bible it can never be pointed to as having any new light. What are they gonna do when they have to change another doctrine?
And also...
Where in the Bible does it say don't smoke cigars or cigarettes?
Where in the Bible does it say not to celebrate birthdays?
Where in the Bible does it say not to celebrate Christmas?
Where in the Bible does it say you must put 10 hours of door to door witnessing in a month, including extended coffee breaks?
Where in the Bible does it say that Jerusalem fell in 607 BC (not BCE)?
Where in the Bible does it say it is all right to support the United Nations?
