Buck - I feel so sorry for you being in love with a JW. Her elder father is "love bombing" you. Its a recruitment technique - they don't call it that - but that's what it is and it is a common practice in cult indoctrination. Try asking him about all their failed armageddon dates, about the evolving blood doctine, and other things you will learn about - and see how nice he is to you. Ask him about the Silent Lambs web site - a web site for people who have been sexually abused by JW's.

But the main thing I think you should consider is that if you marry this JW and have children - and lets say one of your children ever were to need a blood transfusion - your wife will fight you to keep the child from having it and will let your child die.

Can you imagine never having Christmas with your children?

If your children are raised JW they will suffer armageddon phobias and will be told that you will be killed at armageddon. If they grow up and leave the cult - then your wife and her nice and loving family will shun them.

Buck - these are only a FEW things you need to know about. There is a lot more. Please, please please keep reading. Read everything you can before you make any decisions. Also be careful that they don't brainwash you. Sometimes people get sucked in when they never meant to - its already starting to happen to you if you think they answer all of your questions. They have a book that they are trained from and are well equipped to defuse any question you might have.

Check out the UN issue and ask Mr. Elder about it. He tell you something crazy like Satan is using the UN to lie about the JW's - even if you show him the web page - he won't address it - he'll dismiss you and it.

You should also know they have changed things in their NWT bible to make it fit their doctines. But they say other churches do that. You can prove it using their own Kingdom Interlinear. Ask them what the qualifications of the translation committee were - they will tell you its "anonymous". The truth is that Fred Franz took a few classes in Greek and decided to rewrite the bible.

Why more Christians in the West than East?

i have been wondering, why does it seem that there are tons more christians in the u.s. than in the area where jesus was supposedly from?

wouldn't it seem more logical that there would be more christians in the area where he was seen in person...where all the miracles happened - than way the hell over here?

isn't it true that there are more muslims in mecca than the u.s.??

I have been wondering, why does it seem that there are tons more Christians in the U.S. than in the area where Jesus was supposedly from? Another Elder Called My Mom To Find Out About Us.....

he called for her "time" and then began asking questions.

he wanted to know where my daughter lived, what her married last name was now, how the family was doing, etc.

he asked her if she thought my not attending anymore had to do with the fact that i had a business and now i'm "materialistic".

"New system" questions

do you remember all the hype about the "paradise" and then the natural questions that followed that no one has answers to... like,.

"will we have cars in the new system?

" - uh, well jehovah will provide us with whatever we need.

Good questions! My question is - Are all humans and animals going to be vegetarian? That would be the only reason the people, lamb and the lion would hang out together. If so, what about the food chain system? Oh yeah, I almost forgot...Jeboobah will take care of it. Where will all the dead babies be resurrected. How will the parents be able to tell which is their child? Who will care for all the children who have no parents? If all the animals are magically vegatarian, then the birds won't want to eat all those millions of dead corpses. What will happen to the corpses? If Satan is released for 1000 years to again mislead people - then won't it be possible for people to turn bad and kill people again? Then, if there will be no tears and no dying - will our bodies be like in the horror movies - you can stab me in the heart and I just keep walking around, eating fruit? Or will we die and be instantly resurrected again? Will there NEVER be any mistakes - like falling off a cliff? or a boat sinking in the ocean? At least when the boat sinks the sharks won't eat you...they're vegetarian too! What happens when the sun burns out? Oh yeah - god will take care of it. THese are just a few of my questions. Its totally illogical. But in a world with no logic it makes perfect sense.

do you believe the bible is the word of god?

i ask because i believe it's important for searching jws who come here to not only learn if there are christians here but also to hear from them personally what their thoughts on the bible are.

i believe the bible is the word of god, do other chriatians here also believe that?.

THere is no way I can believe that God is the god depicted in the OT. That would mean that God is mean, harsh, punitive, judgemental, unloving. Some of the stories are far too preposterous to be believeable by a "thinking person." Also, if I, a mere sinful human, am able to feel compassion for Lots wife - who was leaving her home, friends, belongings - a looked back in a moment of reflection, longing or whatever. I mean she was having God-given feelings of grief, sadness, etc. Yet god turned her into a pillar of salt for that. If I can empathize and have compassion, why can't God. Jesus would not have turned her to a pillar of salt - but god would. That's not love, not consistent - not anything I want to place my faith in.

Now the NT - I'm still trying to figure out if Jesus was real or a myth. But I do value what he taught and how he lived. If its only a myth - then I think its a God-inspired myth.

i was at university the other night in the computer lab, cruising this site, well a fellow classmate who has been in my class since sept and we have become friends, walks past, looks at the site i am on and says, "i noticed you are on a jw site, did you know i am a jw, are you one?".

i was shocked.

i turned to him and let loose,.

Wow! Great argumentation! So except for their behavior that is the opposite of what Christ taught(LOVE), its almost the truth. I get it now!

Also, you might want to do some research into the New World "Translation." I found that if you "tweak" the Bible just enough - the JW doctrines start to make sense. But isn't it a major sin to change the Bible and add words to it?

I don't mean to sound sarcastic - just wanted to point out a couple of things to maybe reconsider.

after reading ray franzs 2 books and much information on this site we did a search comparing wt qoutes and had a local elder soon to be circuit ovsr at our house and the funny thing was he was unaware of much of the early wts.he also expressed some doubts when he applied to be a ministerial servant and they sent him back a letter making him an elder.his wife was here and when we brought coc out she jumped up like a person on fire.

the elder asked where else could we go?so there is doubt amoung the elders for sure.

i have a sense of loss however cannot support a self proclaimed prophet that is contrary to scriptural teaching and associated with falsehood and bloodguilt.

I love the "where will i go" question. For me: College (for starters), the Red Cross to donate blood, bank to start an IRA, the YMCA (cheap gym), etc....OH and Thursday night TV is awesome! I have a great life now - and am more of a spiritual person than I was when I was a dub. Believe me, there's plenty of places to go once you are free!!!

Does he know JW's used to not be able to go to college? I am glad they changed it but it still pisses me off that I lost career time because of them. Can he explain exactly WHY they changed it. I mean, we were always told that it was pointless to go because armageddon was just around the corner and we needed to devote all of our time to kingdumb interests. So what exactly has changed?? Is armageddon no longer right around the corner?? Is it no longer important to devote all of ones time to kingdom interests??

Please invite him to join our discussion. I would love to hear his to response to my question. Is he willing to donate some money to my IRA fund since I'm so far behind.

Grrrr - I'm getting all mad again.

Need Help any Advice?

hi, i am somewhat new here although my feelings about the jw's haven't been.. anyway, i am doing the fade thing right now along with my husband.

everything was going fine i have not gone to a meeting in 5 months now(i think) and prior to that i was barely going i guess you could say every now and then.

however, going every now and, then i was going back and forth with my feelings.

Congrats to you for protecting your children from the destructive mind control cult knows as the WBTS!!

If what you want is information I would encourage you to read the "Best Of" Threads on this discussion forum as well as Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz - He was once on the Governing Body - they're both very good sources of information on why the JW's are BAD news.

Good luck to you in your search. It took me a while to absorb all this information - so go easy on yourself.

And also, no matter what you say, if you're not going to meetings, they will say SAtan has you. So don't bother. If you tell your sister your real concerns she may label you an apostate and get you DF'ed. So please be careful so that you can continue the fade.
