so i've been wondering about it recently.
i was baptized when i was 11 years old and have been a witness for about 8 years now.
since i was 11 (yes, since 11) i've been reading the watchtower, doing the mics and all that stuff.
Why doesn't the Watchtower rise up to the elevated ethical level of the world and recognize that minors can't sign 'contracts'?
I reckon that would really thin the numbers down in the yearbook, and possibly give a more accurate indication of active publishers....

i was antique crazy years ago.
used to go to all the sales i could.
i went to an estate sale and fell head over heels for a large ornate brass bed.
I remember talk of demon posessed furniture when I was a kid, and it scared the living sh*t out of me.!

jehovah's witnesses deserve to be persecuted.. at one time, jehovah's witnesses suffered terribly in germany and communist countries - but that was a long time ago.. right now, the watchtower's minions are slyly preaching to circuit assemblies about the importance of shunning their ex-witness.

I know many have been adversely affected by this religion, and I don't mean any offense, I really don't. But I find this kind of talk so extreme, to be, well almost JW like.

Banned - maybe so, but wouldn't that just intensify / justify their ministry ?
Expelled - Not sure what you mean by this...
Taxed - Maybe it would hit the WTBTS where it hurts, but not your average Jdub. What difference do you see this would make ? Personally, I think it would come under oppression, which really comes under the larger umbrella of Banned, which I think would just serve to make them feel even more justified in their work.

I didn't call into question your reasonings - I fully agree that there are some underhand practices going on in the name of God, and seemingly being unpunished. This injustice makes my blood boil, as much as anyone elses.
I do take issue with the overall tone of the introduction to this topic though - I mean, persecute ALL witnesses ? Isn't that going down the same lines of "one black person commits a crime, so all are criminals ? One muslim commits an act of torrorism, so all muslims are terrorists ?
I thought as a whole, we were opposed to judemental attitudes like that displayed by the WTBTS ??

my mother taught it to me since i was little, it always made sense to me and was something i wanted in my life.i hadn't made it a big part of my life, until two years ago when i started my own study.
i am getting older and would like to meet someone to be with who is a jehovahs witness, or someone like me who is working towards that.

Meeting a JW, or someone who is studying and has the same objective, isn't a guarantee of falling in love with them, or it being a big success. Many here married 'only in the lord' as directed by the GB, only to find that there are big differences between what you see at the meetings, to what you endure in your family life.
Don't reject a potentially loving, caring life partner, simply because they aren't interested in becoming a JW.
Isn't there a saying "be careful what you wish for, cos it may come true"? Meeting and marrying a JW does not equal happiness....

They like those hooks in that tender young flesh as soon as possible. That way, the skin grows over them and makes them even more firmly embedded.
Then. when you come to your senses and try to wriggle free, those hooks cause maximum pain, tearing away your family and friends like huge chunks of flesh!

i know a lot of people we say, i am 100% out, and speak of all the things they disagree with.
yet i don't think that is the case, we are what the accumulation of our days have brought us too and no matter how hard you try, i know you all have witness in you.
it might be as simple as a thought when we do something normal, with some stray conscience struggle with doing something we were told was wrong for so many years.
I still feel there are parts of me that are influenced by years of JW teachings and I agree with your observation. I don't think it will be possible to ever be 100% free of the occasional 'jdub twinge', even if it is dismissed straight afterwards.

i remember it was frowned upon when i had a bike - risking life and limb on english roads didn't go down too well with some of the more conservative elders.. what kind of bike do you ride ?.

I'm thinking most here play it up too much.
You must have come from a progressive, or predominantly young congregation. I was never told outright "you shouldn't have that bike", but there were alot of snide comments from older ones when I was around, quiet conversations that suddenly raised loud enough to hear, about rebellion, and taking risks etc. I had a few wry comments about my riding style too, although none of them had ever been on a bike with me, so didn't know exactly how it felt or looked first hand !
What do you think to your R6 - I'm told they're not very forgiving - you have to be a good rider to be able to get the most out of them cos of how highly tuned they are.. ?
Brits seem to have a real love affair with sports bikes - while I like them, unfortunately I'm not built to ride one, if you get what I mean ! So, I tend to go for the big tourers, and the low riders - would absolutely love a harley Fatboy or V-Rod Anniversary Edition
