Maybe I am old fashioned but I think that society has become so disgusting BECAUSE OF all this freedom and acceptance of such things. When I was a kid I didn't really understand what sex entailed!!! I just knew of it and otherwise stuck to playing with dolls... Anyway - I think that in no circumstance should a 12 year old be allowed to have sex in the eyes of the law. They aren't even through puberty yet!!! Sex is more than just a fun act. As far as the prostitution law - I would say outlaw it but it is also a free choice and I guess I don't care either way what they do about that! At least stick up for the children though - a 12 year old is still just a baby!!! Regardless of their maturity level!

june 14: avowed feminist and aclu activist ruth bader ginsberg was appointed to be an associate justice on the supreme court.
based on a report she co-authored and on her previous decisions, these are some of the positions she has expressed in the past.

What a tragedy :( I hate that they protect "prominent" members of the congregation but then when a young teenager/adult does something wrong - like have consensual sex, or drinking parties/drugs they are disfellowshipped. *UGH*!!!!!! I am so angry that they pick and choose "special" people to stay or go to keep their congregation "strong". What strength lies in the hypocrisy and abuse that they have built up this cult to become??? *VOMIT* on them and their ways!!!!!

Is it possible for a sociopath to change? It is with Jehovah's spirit. Or?
by avengers in.
with jehovah's spirit?
i'd like some opinions.. andy.

I'm not sure what a sociopath is EXACTLY... If it is a mental illness due to chemical imbalances, I am sure with medication and treatment they can curb the symptoms, not sure if you can CURE or completely change a mental illness...
I think when Witnesses talk about changing people they mean the people who are alcoholics, or people in to drugs or immoral/wrong things. Then when those people find God they change to drop the alcohol or drugs/whatever and "clean up" their lives. Just my thoughts...

The Termination of the WTS
by richard injust suppose ... the wts will cease to exist.
then this forum has lost its right to exist.
how would you deal with this void in your life?
-

If the WTS was terminated than all the people who were in it would be just like us - families and friends would be reunited and the problems that brought us here would be obsolete and forgiven in the happiness of the WTS no longer existing. I have thought of ways to destroy it but am not sure it is appropriate to post here. It has nothing to do with death or bombs *lol* - it has to be more strategic. Something that strikes at the heart - of the society - and has to be videotaped so that there is proof and no explaining their way out of it. Clue: getting all the governing body elders to sin and showing it to the congregations that their leaders are not so holy after all. Of course, knowing them they would and could explain to their brainwashed sheep their way out of it *sigh*

When You Were A Witness---Were You Ever On A Spiritual "High"?
by minimus ini knew soooo many jws that would get pumped up because of an assembly or elder's or circuit overseer's talk.
after hearing the reasons to pioneer, for example, some would wait in a line to get their applications from the service overseer.
some would go to their first district convention, see the "love" and want to get baptized.......were you one of those persons that ever found yourself "on a spiritual high"??
-

I don't think the JW "religion" gave me a high so much as the rare moments when they read something out of the bible or something that was purely God and not their teachings... so I would say the highs came from the bible teaching in the rare moments they actually used it and not from the religion. I get spiritual highs more now that I am out than I ever did in.

Since leaving how have you changed?
by Joysome inwhat do you find yourself doing differently?.
do you ever feel a little shocked when your opinions on certain things have changed?
things that you were once so adamantly against?.
-
lilsx1
I have changed in that I have God now and I have my eyes and heart opened to love and life and people. I don't see people as "worldly" and I don't judge anymore. I am so happy I am out of that religion!!!!!!

Aw thankyou for talking to her - I can feel that pain I guess that is why I say thankyou - for people you have known and loved your entire life ignore you it hurts so bad and it is so sweet of you to talk to that person... *yay*!!! I think disfellowshipping is horrible and wrong and I have no idea where they got it from but telling that to the JWs is a waste of breath, hehe, I've tried it!!!

Have you ever honestly had Jehovah ansure your prayer?
by Singing Man inyes have you ever honestly, had jehovah ansure your prayer in a way that told you it was from him and not some trick of a wanting heart?
-

Ok, I guess that I have always been taught as a JW that you HAVE to use the name Jehovah for God to hear your prayer and to be honest when I was a kid I prayed to God that I was sorry, but I hated being in the meetings as a JW and I hated going out in service... well when I met my husband - not a JW - he got me out of the religion - as a result my friends and family dumped me. So when my EX husband started to become abusive I was completely alone and wanted to die. I ran off one cold night, barefoot and without my keys so my husband wouldn't stop me (he often blocked the door so I couldn't leave). So I was completely alone and prayed with my whole heart and soul to die and that I couldn't handle it anymore and I was sobbing, at rock bottom. I all of a sudden felt like there were two people on either side of me and felt warm and "heard" "Everything is going to be ok, it's going to be ok." and I was at peace immediately and warm and safe, it was then that I knew God listens. Also I had an experience where I went to a church where they spoke in tongues - it was another low point in my life so I walked up to the alter to pray and people laid their hands on me and told me to just let go and pray and soon I was speaking in tongues. While this happened, the people who had their hands on me started to say what I was thinking - then I realized I was talking in tongues what I was thinking and they in fact were translating for me... It was amazing, and even more amazing was that when I asked for forgiveness and asked Jesus in to my heart - I saw Him. He was in a white robe and I looked in to his eyes and saw pure love and acceptance and I cried and He held out His hand to me and I felt sooooo content and peaceful. It's just like Enishi said in the post - the feeling is indescribable. I always pray to Father or to God - I don't use the name Jehovah because I feel as if God is my Father and I have a more personal relationship than just a name that I associate with a cult!!!! Though I have lost all friends and family that I grew up with I have gained God and there is no comparison. Thanks for listening!
