I did not attend when I was df'ed. I was thinking about that today oddly enough. I kind of wish I had come in earlier and chatted everybody up (I hadn't been to a meeting in a really long time) and then see their faces when it was announced. You know everybody holds their breath when, during the announcements, the announce that elder so and so has a special announcement. Everyone hangs on the edge of the seat waiting to see who's getting the axe. Just would have been interesting to see everyone's reaction.

When my husband were engaged (at 19 & 21), my husband went all the way to point of going to his vasectomy appt before chickening out. We were both pioneers and totally, completely convinced that we weren't going to raise children in "this system of things". Thank god he chickened b/c now we're getting ready to start a family! But that was the thinking in my congregation. A lot of couples in my cong had big fancy homes, made tons of money, drove nice cars, always on vacation or in designer clothes, but of course they had no material attatchments!

what is the weirdest counsel you ever received?
by nb-dfed inmy husband and i had a committee meeting because of underage drinking.
when he was being counseled, the p.o.
told my husband that he needed to make me wear different clothes to the meeting because it made some of the brothers unable to concentrate.

Sounds like a personal problem to me! Any other weird advice out there?

Refusing to eat Lucky Charms cereal...
by Confucious inas i sit here eat my favorite cereal for breakfast, i remember a time when it used to offend me to eat lucky charms.

Cereal wasn't a big deal in my house, as long as we never said anything about to anyone in the cong. We didn't want to stumble anyone! I remember that some people (namely the c.o.'s wife) thought that disney movies were demonic, so we weren't allowed to talk about that either. My parents also had a rule about movies with "swears" in them. I forget the limit, but if the number of swear words in a movie was over a certain limit, we had to turn the movie off. My dad would give me books to read after he finished them and he would use a sharpie to black out all swear words (including "damn" and "hell") and any sex scenes. Bizarre.
