i'm sure that i would've, believing that jehovah god would be proud of me.

As strong a JW as I and my wife thought we were (she was raised in it) we discussed this issue several times over the years. My daughter was born 33 years ago. And we sincerly believed that as much as we loved our daughter and loved Jehovah...........that the life of our daughter would be more important no matter the consequences in the org. and the congo. After all..............when enough tears are shed and remorse is shown.........you are the "good guys" again after a year of shunning by your peers and a year of kissing "cheeks" and being humble to the elders.

My wife was a sort of rebel in her own way..........I learned a lot of her secret feelings about the religion from my daughter after my wife died. Sure wish she would have shared some of these feelings with me years ago.

But life must go on..............

Are you guys going to be anywhere the Donner Pass in your travels? I read the book about that and the wagon wheel ruts are supposed to still be there after almost 100 years. I think I read something a few years back that the last living survivor of the Donner Pass had died.

I can only imagine what the pioneers of the last century had to go through in their quest of the American dream.

Please continue to keep us posted..............as I love travel and history.

R/C Plane Update...

she made her maiden flight from the ground!.

Wilbur and Orville had to have a starting point too! Who knows where you may go with this aviation thing. Hey.....just kidding.........RC flying is fascinating.......and being an aviation nut (private pilot).....the man who RULES is Rutan......he is a modern day Einstein of aviation. Yep.........Rutan.....you are the man.

What I discovered here is the fact that.......... we all having our original common interest of being xjw's.............can "agree to disagree" on all of lifes problems and rewards.........(Ok I borrowed that from who might have originated it.) And we all could sit down for coffee or your drink of choice and have many intellegent "arguments" and still shake hands and hug when it is time to depart.

Everytime you post I am enlightened! Man, I wish I had a way with words like you do. The bottom line is..........there AIN'T no white person........no matter how much social, economic and psychological education they may have who will ever know what a black person or other person of color has to go through and put up with in their quest for a happy life and a "Piece of the pie".

My sincere apologies to Bigboi and anyone else who I may have offended with my posts on this topic.

My opinion was not meant to make anybody angry or to point the finger at any one race or national origin. But sometimes, what goes on in society makes me want to vent. As a man in a neighborhood of many backgrounds..........I just tried to say that there is self pity and self degrading conduct by so many that couldn't do what others might have done with the "plate" they were given. Sometime I am liking the taste of my own foot in my mouth.

My belief is that our great creator will oneday end all poverty and injustice...........and now that we are out of the borg......we can help........however small each of our contribution may be.............food bank......United Way.........rescue missions......Salvation Army ( oh yes.....my favorite) and others. I firmly believe in these organizations and contribute to them.........and as a group of many........all help is welcome. .

Didn't someone once say......"Am I my brothers' keeper?.............I can say........"yes, I AM my brothers' keeper.......I want him to be happy too."

Drawing close to God in Prayer...

since leaving the wt, i been trying my best to draw close to god.

i found my prayers really were lacking.

I appreciate your post. Drawing close to God has never been an option for me........even before I became a JW.

And since I left the WT after 30+ years, God is still in my life.............more than ever before. It takes time to put all that we have had ingrained in us out of our lives and to get to know real truth unemcumbered by man made rules.

I hope......... and will pray for you to find the peace and comfort that our Lord can give in these troublesome times.

Please.........never cease to pray....even though you may not at this time know who you are praying to..........Ask and you will receive. I know that's what happened to me.......I asked ........and the blessings that I experience today are more than I ever thought I'd have in a lifetim.............God is good......He is great............

Read the Bible for it's own merit.......you will have a new and complete understanding of who God and Jesus are and what you DON'T have to do to have their love and approval.

I use to make fun of born again christians for decades...thought they were demon possessed, goofy, idiots, not knowing anythind...............wow was I wrong.... I kind of feel like Paul being struck by lightening..........today I understand what it is about..........I AM a born again Christian and proud of it. And best of all...............I don't have to prove anything to the Father or the Son. They already know who I am............I am happy because God loves me...yes .............old imperfect me......and I don't have to prove myself to them.........just believe. And since I believe........my witness is my life and what I say in plain everyday conversation...........

I wish you well and hope you find the true understanding.

Ex JW Author To Speak

on august 1, roy milton, author of truth or consequences, is due to speak at vineyard christian fellowship in downey, california.

he was a jw for some 30 years and this book tells about his journey in and out of the religion.

anyone living in that area interested in his story might like to attend and offer moral support.

Roy Milton is a hero just as many more on this and other boards are.............could you imagine the wonderful readings if all the rest of us could put our thoughts and experiences into words like Roy did? He deserves a lot of credit and all of our prayers (from those who still pray).

Any xjw who can write his or her story is greater than George Lucas or Steven Spielberg ...............our story's are truely unique and NOT fiction. I once heard something like........"fact is truer than fiction" or something like that......(correct me about this) And if anyone can't pray anymore..........just fake it until it is real again!

Nothing is OWED to anybody...........that is like saying that if you are willing to work your ass off for what you have.........and I am a lazy bastard and don't want to work, but expect to be spoon fed........that part of what you earn should take care of me.............please don't take offense at what I say........but why should your or my labors take care of the "don't give a damn.........I'm entitled crowd?" We (in America) all go to the same schools with the same teachers...........so I will not believe that a Jew, or oriental or whatever color or race in the same class as a person of another color or culture (this is just a comparison) and the Jew or the oriental goes on to become a lawyer or some other professional making 6 figures.........and the other person says that the education process is not good and goes on public assistance for the rest of his or her life.........and blame someone or something for their own failures..........the blame is not on society.........it is to be blamed on the failure of the individual of the family of this individual for being negligent and feeling entitled also. On the other hand........I DO believe in government assistance for those individuals who have grown up in adverse conditions and want to exceed in their personal growth and education................but everyone needs to STOP blaming the hard working and entrpenurial people who want to exceed for society's ills. If it wasn't for the people who start businesses where would us working class be?

Sounds like a republican chant here but I am in no way........a diehard republican.........more like a repdemocrat or demopublican...........POLITICS SUCK!

I just believe that everyone can go as far as they are willing to dream and carry it out.

OK.........I'm done with my soapbox public talk..........(gee.......wonder what would be said if I gave this talk at one of the district conventions I used to speak at)? Confused

HappyDad is a 57 year old white man in the Pittsburgh, Pa area and I stand behind Cosby's statement 100%................I am not a racist..........never have been.............grew up in a mixed neighborhood and still live in a mixed neighborhood.............if you WORK for what you have (like all of my neighbors of color (black, white, yellow and hues) and don't expect "entitlements" ........you can exceed in anything you want to do...............Just look at any Pakistani, Indian, Chineese, Korean, Japaneese, Hispanic, "true African", Russian or East European imigrant.............and feel ashamed to the bone if you are white or black trash welfare expecting the "man" to take care of you. There is too much of the ..."I don't have the opportunities" mentality going around........and you can blame the previous generations of whichever race or economic status is too lazy to get off their ass and do something....................and as much as I hate controversy........I stand behind what I say..........and if you don't like what I say............take a look in the mirror. It doesn't matter what color or race you are from...........stand up and DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR ANCESTRY FOR A CHANGE.........it doesn't have to be WAR................the key is EDUCATION...........oh.........damn........this makes me soooooooooo fuc*** mad that someone expects to be taken care of................DON"T MAKE MY TAXES GO UP AGAIN BECAUSE YOU THINK THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOU WHILE I AND OTHERS WORK OUR ASSES OFF!.................you have just seen the NASTY side of HappyDad.........so get a life!
