  My old congregation is being shuttered

  i just found out from my jehovah's witness cousin that my old congregation is being shuttered due to lack of elders, less than 20 members attending, and that the congregation cannot meet their monthly expenses.. here is a congregation that was started in 1975 with less than 15 members.

  it grew to 185 members in the 1990's.

  the congregation grew so large that the elders decided to split the congregation in two.

  Shades of the Worldwide Church of God founded by Herbert Armstrong. Today, there are dozens of offshoots of that church. Maybe one day, there will be many offshoot JW "churches".

  The Governing Body is a cult within a cult. The Cult of Personality. I saw this among the elder body when I was an elder. It was sometimes blatant, but mostly very sneaky. If "certain elders" didn't care for "certain elders", they were always watching to see how they could throw that person under the bus. There is always one or two who wants to be king of the hill.

  i “unwitnessed” at work yesterday.

  in case anyone doesn’t know, i retired last year from the post office.

  after being home for 5 months, i got bored, so i went back to work where my husband works.

  new jun 23 wt....elders to follow gideon example, even if instructions doesn't seems practical, gideon reduced army by 99 % and he obeyed, it could be changes in theocratic direction similar to this.

  what that means?.

  elders will need the courage to follow instructions "may relate to delivering a symbolic hailstone message...".. in another section "major world events may raise some from spiritual slumber".

  I remember over 30 years ago, Watchtower had the tract campaign where we delivered a new tract about every othe month. If I am correct, this was to continue until the "end". Hmmm, what happened to that message? Most likely, it was just psychological conditioning to keep us busy and not think about what we really could be doing with our time.

  it is in fact what i so desperately want for my son ashton and my baby girl honey bee, to be lovers of truth and grow up to be a loyal servants of jehovah god and his son, jesus christ.

  It is good that you have seen through the deception of the organization.

  I have doubts that anyone at JW headquarters will read your entire letter because it is much too long. They will determine in a few paragraphs that is negative information about them and just discard it.

  this afternoon i drove by an old hall i attended ( barrington illinois) and noticed that it had been sold, it is now an adventist .

  church !

  now here is my drive-home thinking.. back in the 80's when i attended i was newly married, and had a young child.

  The two Kingdom Halls that I attended back in Pennsylvania are now a town's borough building and police station and the other is a church of some homemade denomination (Shekinah Temple). The main KH in Pittsburgh's Oakland area (Central Kingdom Hall) is now a Islamic Center.

  it reminded me of how glad i am that 1st gen and i left the cult together and worked on keeping our closest relationships alive.

  it wasn't easy.
