the watchtower studies have gotten so easy, especially when you've seen most of the topics many times before. I would practice speed reading technics on them, trying to read the whole paragraph in 5 seconds, and then see if i could answer the question. without reading scriptures I could prepare the whole article in 3 minutes. the underlining got a bit messy, that just made it stand out more..

Do you still struggle with a negative world view?
by new light inwell-trained jws tend to view all current events in relation to armageddon.
they see the world as having no hope of improvement, and view all efforts to improve our home as a waste of time.
have you totally broken free of this destructive viewpoint?

I've just become so insensitive to any form of suffering..
Whenever theres a natural disaster, or anything I think 'to bad', I'm not affected, I don't care.
The war in Iraq, people are dying there everyday, theres all sorts of other crap happening around the world, I watch the news and I see people all over the world crying for lost family members, I'm thinking to myself 'To Bad, oh well whats for supper..'
I hate to say this but I saw the video of the Iraqi militants cutting the guys head off, I was eating lunch when it finished downloading, so I watched it then. I stopped midbite thinking 'damn, thats wrong' carried on eating, and checked what else had finished downloading.
I don't get affected by anything unless its happening to someone real close to me, like a close family member or a good friend. I can only assume this is because of the JW teaching, but then again I've always known that deep down theres something really wrong with me.. -

What did you actually enjoy about JW meetings?
by Pinned Blouse in.
as much as i dreaded going to all the meetings there were things that i did enjoy.. 1. no special parking spaces for the elders, etc.. 2. no collections plate going around the room.
3. no one person giving the talk every single week (can you imagine the same speaker 3 to 4 times a week, every day?

generally the last five minutes or so, actually the bit just after the final prayer, while walking to the car to drive home. Yeah, that was the best part..

Did you ever get a W (Work needed) on a talk?
by desib77 insomeone mentioned this in one of their posts and i had a flashback.
i remember getting a w on one of my theocratic school talks when i was working on gesturing.
the funny thing about it is that it was given to me by my dad!

The one time I got one, by random chance I was working on Timing. I only found out I was doing the talk 2 days before, it was the bible reading, so naturally I procrastinated until 3 hours before the meeting before starting on it. It was an excellent rush job, my bullshitomer was at full rev, and I quickly filled out 4 cue cards to use. Just after finishing the assigned text I noticed that I only had 3 cue cards with me, so mid sentence I just stopped, gave everyone a smile and walked off. There were some puzzled looks, the elder just said my 3:15 wasn't good enough and gave me a W. No-one mentioned anything about it afterwards. It got me wondering how many people in the cong. were actually listening to any opff the talks at all..

Thanks for the all the greetings, from everyone. Returning the hug to ((granny)) :) Crooked Lumpy Vessel > about banning religion, the letter was sent by some anti organised religion group, if I remember correctly. Don't take it to seriously, apparently anyone can send a proposal to the UN, regarding anything, I don't think there is much chance of them even looking @ it.. the newbie thread is execellent, theres almost way too much info there, but I'm getting through it slowly. Nosferatu, I left for several reasons, lifestyle being on of them. I kind of stopped believing in most of it. I would sit at meetings trying not to burst out laughing at some things, wondering how other people could believe the crap that was being spewed out at them, and then getting angry at the demands they were making, about spending every second of your life devoted to Jehovah. Avoiding worldly association etc. I was sent to an all boys school, to avoid 'temptation'. The only all boy's school in my area happened to be strong sporting school, but I wasn't allowed to take part in sport.. it was like spray painting an 'easy target' sign on my back, I was open for ridicule from all angles. The geek who couldn't play sport for religious reasons. I thought that there was no way I could go through life like this, being abnormal and trying not to fit in, yet really wanting to. So I decided I wasn't going to take part in anything to do with jw any more. My mother still doesn't understand it, how 'overnight' I stopped believing in Jehovah, the organisation, armagedon, god, religion. I had no 'bad association', because I had no friends, so it couldn't be that. She blamed my father, but I only saw him twice a year back then, so it wasn't that either. I tried explaining the term 'think for yourself' to her. The concept of questioning things before believing them. I still have the jw mentality of simply believing things some people tell me, and a couple of days later thinking, hold on, that was a load of elephant shit. uhm, yeah Obviously Secret, yeah my mild interest is growing into an obsession, I love the stuff. I'm slowly increasing my collection.. I love Ninja Scroll!! Speak to you soon DS

Thought I should say hello to everyone
I've been browsing the jwd for more than a month now, and I'm finding it to be an amazing source of info.
I stumbled upon this site because I was looking for info about the WTS money collection policies (aka. general greediness), and when I had found what I was looking for, I just kept on reading. The info on the incorrect predictions and other prophecies has answered many questions, and confirmed several doubts I've carried with me for quite a while. The stuff on child abuse has been pretty shocking, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised, considering the general level of secrecy surrounding many of the things that happen in the society.
I guess I have now officially joined the apostates :)
The scary thing was how despite being 'out of the truth' for a couple of years, I still felt guilty the first few times I came here. aah well, I guess there goes the last of my spiritually attuned conscience..
