The donations aren't just for the magazines but for the spreading of the "Good News", I'm surprised no one's brought this up before. It should not only pay for petrol, but for coffee, which rejuvinates the preachers and makes stay out in service for longer, and for lunch, to prevent them from going home and tempting them to stay there. It should also pay for warm clothes in winter time, massages for sore feet, legs, and backs.
hmm, I might actually go out in field service again...

Publishers should charge the WTS for gas money
by Nosferatu inlet's face it, the publishers get ripped off.
they make up for the payment of magazines when the householder fails to donate anything.
they spend their time and gas money going door to door, not to mention wear and tear on their cars.. the publishers should quit paying for the householder's lack of donation, and begin deducting gas expenses from donation money.

stuck in!
by red so deep inwell, this is my first post here, and i'm kind of doing it in secret, cause i know if my parents knew of my "poisoning myself with apostates" they would not be happy at all.
anyways, my story is; i'm 17, i've been brought up "in the truth" my whole life, and now i'm starting to question the wt and christianity in general, and i have nobody to talk to about it.
i feel awkward about talking to my witness friends about it, cause i worry that if i speak out against the organazition and the wrong people (i.e; young ones around here that would never think of questioning the society) hear about it, it might result in my punishment (reproof or dfing).

welcome Red So Deep!!
Nosferatu gave some excellent suggestions, especially about moving out. Unless your
parents are reasonably liberal, life at home will probably become unbearable once you have
made your choice to leave public. This just adds to making things depressive..
good luck, theres plenty of support available on this board..

Do JWs believe all wordly people die at armageddon?
by XQsThaiPoes ini was wondering a few things.
i am trying to avoid the complexe question fallacy so excuse me if this is worded strangely instead of just saying "do jws believe all wordly people die at armageddon?"..
1) did the watchtower change its teaching on the great tribulation and armageddon enought for you to call it a major change?.

My mother is always telling me that anyone who has come into contact with the truth, ie has studied, or attended meetings or was baptised, but now live a "wordly lifestyle" or no longer believes, will be killed at armagedon. People who have never come into contact will be spared. Basically anyone who has ever been preached to and has not converted is going to die.
My mother tells me with tears in her eyes that it is so sad that I'm choosing to die at armagedon... -

How many brought to the JWs by the door to door work?
by undercover inminimus stated in another thread that 99% of newly baptized jws are children/teens of jws.
another poster said that they knew of only one person baptized in 20 years of door to door work.. let's do an informal, unscientific poll/survey:.
how many here were brought into the "truth", whether baptized or unbaptized publishers, by means of the door to door work having no prior experience with jws?

My mother was a door 2 door convert, mid eighties.
At least half of the congregation I went to were brought in by door to door work.. but it was a wierd congregation, others I visited were mostly made up of families. -

A Final Note: Hell Is Truth Seen Too Late - Duty Neglected In It's Season. - Tryon Edwards
So is this game controversial? Are demons evil? The answer is an unwavering "Yes." Very controversial and very evil, respectively. Doom II has been blamed for everything from the murders of 13 people at a Colorado high school to you not turning in your homework. It stirs up a lot of emotions for gamers, parents, and legislators alike. Living in a society originally founded on Judeo-Christian values, it shouldn't be surprising to us when a game that involves satanic symbols, shooting people (though undead), and has as it's setting the big H - E - double hockey sticks causes problems for some members of society.
Where I personally stand on Doom 3 is fodder for another article, but if you were looking for demons, eviscerated humans crucified upside down, a bio-mechanical Satan, or limbless torsos writhing in cages with the sounds of little girls whimpering in the background, it is all there on those three CD-ROMs. And if you aren't looking for those things, they are still there, eagerly awaiting a rabid press, a candidate in need of soapbox, or a mother looking for a reason why her son wears all black and listens to "The Misfits".
Whether you like it or not, to many people, a single game will say something about all gamers and the industry as a whole. Last election's "Soccer Moms" and this year's "Security Moms" won't notice the dynamic lighting, the antialiasing, or pixel-shaders. But the bloated, skinned zombie hitting you over the head with a wrench might catch her eye. It was interesting to note in the opening cutscene that the Union Aerospace Corporation was described as having enough financial resources to fund "research outside of legal and moral obligations". I wonder how much money it takes to free yourself of moral and legal obligations. Purchase and play responsibly -

you're right, the whole happy multi-racial gathering wearing meeting clothes, except there's way too much alcohol in that picture.

I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I?d been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
no I don't like country music, but I love google
