Attending meetings and going out in field service etc. are the most important things in their lives, its stuff that cannot be missed. For at least 2 years after I stopped going to meetings I still had a funny feeling on tuesdays and thursdays and sundays, like there was something important or urgent that I had to go do, than a feeling of relief, when I realised I could just watch tv or sleep in instead.
At home the schedule is still governed by meeting times, like late supper on tuesdays and thursdays, no lunch on sundays.
Now I have problems prioritising other stuff

JW Mentality
by Crooked Lumpy Vessel ini recently received a visit from a sister who is moving out of the area.
she was telling me how she would live in her new place on the weekends and then stay here locally in an apartment (mon - fri) while she and her husband finish out their last year before retirement.
what made the conversation so mental was she was explaining this to me in terms of how she would be attending her meetings.

Do You Need Praise From Others To Feel Validated?
by minimus inis that what makes you feel good about yourself?
can you take criticism without taking it personal?
-
DireStraitJacket
Generally if someone criticizes a point I make, I view it as an opportunity to either learn something I didn't know or to teach them something they didn't know, depending on who is right.
Of course having people agree with you does make one feel good... -

drink lots of water, like a litre, at once. and some exercise, like running, the headache will get a lot worse for a few minutes, than miraculously disappear, and you'll feel better than ever.
or as mentioned, masturbate, same effect :) -

Offspring - Amazed
Sometimes I think I'm gonna drown
Cause everyone around's so hollow
I'm alone
Sometimes I think I'm going down
But no one makes a sound
They follow
And I'm alone
Yeah if I make it I'd be amazed
Just to find tomorrow
One more day and I'd be amazed
Just to see it waiting
And if I make it I'm still alone
No more hope for better days
But if I could change
Then I'd really be amazed
And when you know you can't relate
To one more shiny face
Your heart breaks
No one cares
And when you know you can't go on
Cause everything is wrong
Your heart breaks
But no one's there -

Colgate Total, nothing else comes close to the clean, fresh feeling that this leaves in my mouth. And it keeps teeth whiter much better than the few whitening toothpastes I've used..

Is religion and faith not possible for some?
by littletree ini ask this question because i'm starting to have the scarey feeling that i was born "faithless".
other than feeling that babies and flowers are beautiful and miraculous, i have been having the darndest time feeling 100% sure that god exists and cares.
things that religious folks say are "blessings" i just see as the product of human effort and choice, or as stuff that probably would have happened anyway.

Not believing firmly in something puts you in a great position to learn what other people and cultures believe. You can be a lot more acceptable of other peoples opinions and viewpoints, without condeming them by saying that something is not possible.
In my family I have the die-hard christians, and the staunch atheists, and both will put down and argue about the other persons belief, without even listening to what the other person has to say. I think that is a terrible way to go through life, how do you get to know someone without understanding what they believe, and more importantly why they believe what they do, if you never listen to what they have to say?
I've spent a lot of time thinking about god and religion. To me there is no concrete proof that god exists, and the arguments that many people bring up to prove that he does not exist count for nothing unless you have the same definition for what god is as the people who created the arguments.
Maybe it boils down to me not needing to believe in God. I've never had faith, maybe at some stage in my life I will feel the need to believe in something greater, but for now I'm happy not believing.
If you do have kids, give them a choice at a young age. They don't have to make the choice then, but it will help them if they are aware of the options available, rather than being force fed what their parents believe. -

What book are you reading now?
by ozziepost infrom time to time we like to share some good reads with each other on jwd, and now might be a good time to share with you what i'm reading this week.
it's "the gate" by francois bizot which tells of his experiences as the only western prisoner to survive the khmer rouge in cambodia.
in 1971, on a routine outing through the cambodian countryside, the young french ethnologist francois bizot is captured by the khmer rouge.

I need HELP!!!!!!!!!
by Samdownunder incan anyone relate and help with the nagging doubts that it really was the"truth" and we are all doing the wrong thing and being misled.
i have read a lot of information to sway me from the witnesses and to think it is only a man made religion, but still i fear i could be wrong and going against god.
how do you all deal with this feeling that surely most have experienced.

I've had this feeling and still get it occasionally.
What I find works for me is going to Quotes site http://quotes.watchtower.ca and reading some of the ridiculous
crap that they wrote about back in the day.. teachings that supposedly made them "Jehovahs chosen organisation" in 1918.
Also the fact that the 607bce to 1914 prophesy is wrong, makes absolutely everything linked to it wrong as well.. and it is the whole basis for JW's existing..!!
