btw...if i have further thoughts I will share them privately through pm...I think the good suggestion was made that it would be wise not to reveal strategy.

As I read it, this is a bunch of legal sounding smoke...because I just don't see a legitimate basis...at least one that makes sense.
1) The CDs are not sold (wink) so there can be no monetary harm.
2) The CD itself is a replication of previously printed public documents...which were not sold (wink) but distributed.
3) The reference about the intent to embarrass is purely speculative, especiallly since these are direct quotes from there own literature, with no commentary.
4) The only way to prove that intent is to show that the quotes are taken out of context or are complete mis-quotes. Do you think they really want that? In that case the worst thing they could do is go to trial.
5) They do not want to make this a discussion of doctrine, but in order to prove the claims of harm they would ultimately and inadvertantly be exposing those very doctrines. Not whether the doctrine is true, false good or bad,....but whether they did in fact print what is now only being quoted....from documents that they themselves printed and distributed freely.

paragraph 31 for an interesting, and bizarre claim: the Watch Tower's books and materials "embarrass[es]" the Watch Tower!
...And that's what really gets under their skin. They are trying, but they can't run from their own words fast enough! Axelspeed

This is laughable! There is no way they really want this. In the long run they will be damaged considerably if this gets out as you couldnt buy this kind of advertising. My bet is that they are hoping you feel the Goliath bearing down and tuck tail and run.
The main issue seems to be the CDROM issue, which can be easily rectified, as all the information has been printed. Secondly, you are only quoting, and not reproducing complete works. I don't think they have a case, and are depending/hoping on the intimidation factor
What this really exposes is the effect the internet is having...it has been devastatingly effective.

now we know where gw gets his "compassionate conservatism" from:.
hurricane katrina victims in houston, texas were "underprivileged anyway" and life in the astrodome sports arena is "working very well for them," former first lady barbara bush says....
I agree that her statements lacked empathy, but from what I hear she is a nice person.
Check the following link for another unbelievably insensitive statement at about the 1:40 mark. Morgue town braces for wave of coffins
Sorry I cant get the link to work, but it's on the cnn.com main page under relief and rescue.
i went to a born-again christian church wedding a couple of weeks ago.
in so many ways it was like a kingdum hall.... and the person conducting the wedding was jesus this jesus that..... i just want to roll my eyes.. i think its because i been preached 'at' so much in my life as a dub i dont want to hear it anymore.
maybe im getting my head round the idea that beliefs and worship are best kept to yourself..... anyone else feel like this?
Yes I do. And I cringe and look for a way to get away before I say something too off the cuff. I do for my own reasons believe in some form of a higher power, though I'm not sure most religions understand, or are willing to admit to, perhaps an alternate view of the true nature of such a being.
If I ever have dealings with a "religion" in the future, it will be for social reasons only. I will make my own conclusions and decisions about my relationship with and how I view this "higher power", and live with the consequences of it. Anything short of this higher power communicating from a burning bush to me personally is a waste of time.
JWs have completely ruined god-talk/organized religion for me for probably the balance of my lifetime. Even if Christianity is the way, the JW brand of it has turned me off.
I think that on some levels it could be argued that JW theology is actually anti-Christian.

those of you who have been to this year district conventions know that during the drama timothy's friend ionatan was telling him about their plans to go and study in athen.
i keep wondering how watchtower dares to say such lies.
where did they find this in the bible?
I went to see the education angle and you are right, it was a buch of fiction wrapped around a couple of bible characters. Just pulled a story right out of the as$. And the JW lingo was incredibly ridiculous. It's hard to believe so many really swallowed that stuff.

my family and i have been away from the meetings for about three years but we still are watched carefully and get the occasional "we miss you" visit.
we will be moving out of state 1,500 miles away.
in todays internet age with access to so much info, phone #'s and adresses is it really impossible to truly escape?
Once you move that far (1500 mi) you should be fairly safe, provided you dont make contact with JW in your new location. That is pretty far, for even the most persistant of elders.
Contrary to a lot of opinion, most elders are too busy with there own life or with the JWs who do show up to put forth the effort for anybody not in the territory, much less out of state. The rest are much too lazy. And I know of no elder who would go searching on the internet for any individual jw. Dont worry...you should be ok. Just try not to make contact with the locals in the new area.

i don't post much and this is the first thread i've ever started so please bear with me.
i wanted to give my obsevations on the 2005 "godly obedience" district convention.if the things i say are redundant, i apologize.
anyways, i was coerced into going by my daughter.
i agree with the points already made, but here are my notes anyway.
1. trying to move away from 1914 as fast as possible
2. put faith in the resurrection because you will probably die on this side of the big A. sorry bout that old-timers.
3. give the FDS unquestioning (read blind) obedience
4. college is bad...come to bethel (the bethel meeting this year is for all under 35 and single, not just 19-35...my take is that they are trying to get them wrapped up early. This was also evidenced by some very very young baptisms)
