by El blanko inwell, amazingly, i just passed on the book to a sister who knocked my door this morning, after a long, long chat.. what amazed me i suppose after isolating myself in my bubble for many years now, is that jws are basically humans afterall.
with a great degree of social apprehension towards us ex-jws of course, but never the less, human.. i assured her i had faded away, but still retained a moral code of behaviour.
she relaxed at that point.

A possible reason WHY, the 'New System' was never a Reality to us.
by gumby inperhaps i'm wrong, but this is a possible explanation.i was always taught that a new system would soon replace the old one.
in this new system there would be no more war, everyone would eat from his own 'fig tree', they would build houses and love one another.. .
in every publication that depicted this new system.....it was a picture of a beautiful lush productive earth, people were carrying baskets of vegetables and fruit walking together being of different decent, the men were bulding houses with smiles on their faces, and the children were playing with the animals.

The New World Translation and Honesty
by Little Bo Peep inafter having researched my beliefs of 45+ years, finding so much was really different than what the bible context really taught, i decided to "read" the bible for for the first time to see what it really was saying, taking off the "blinders" of the wt.
i began reading the greek scriptures first.
i used the new world translation, knowing if we were to ever reach our grown children, i would need to use that translation to prove anything.

When I was still in the org. I started reading the living bible, now I know this isnt the most acurate version, but it really changed the way I read the bible. For one thing it was enjoyable, im not a scholar but even I started questioning the NWT
I took it to a meeting once and the looks I got, it was if Id brought in the devil himself
The WT says we could use any version, but we all know we couldnt, unless we were using a scripture that backed up the NWT

Does the WTBTS publish DA statistics?
by Pwned ini was just wondering what the statistics are since around 2000 when the internet really took hold.
i know when i was going to meetings 1977-1995 da announcements were almost unheard of and from the anecdotal evidence from this site it seems like it is commonplace.
would most of you who still actually attend feel that there has been a significant increase in da in the last 5-10 years or was my congregation back in the day just weird?

It was very rare for someone to DAs from my congregation. But so where DFs and the ones that where came back.
But in a neighbouring cong, Loads left and mostly elders including the PO
