in the may 1, 1988 watchtower, on page 22, a witness, matsue ishii, recalls her first encounter with the bible students in 1928: at the back of our house in tojo-cho, osaka, there was a house with a sign: "osaka branch of the international bible students association.
" assuming it to be a christian group, i visited the house.
"do you believe in the second advent of the lord?

That happened to a sister in my hall. It started off as an item in the hall, experiences placing a new book, it ended up on the platform in the assemble. I knew it was embelished completely, cos I had been with this sister when she placed the book!!!!!
She didnt want to do it, but did
very interesting article, shows how churches can "cook the books".

I agree the "entry requirement" is different, at the very least you have to be alive to become a witness,,,,,not so with the mormons LOL

I hate picking out someones past posting but Qcmbr, who is a mormon said that in his 2 years of ministry he baptized .........wait for it..........74 ppl
Now he never answered when I said I found that hard to believe, but I just donot believe it
What witness has EVER brought 74ppl in in 2 years ?

I was still in when I came across this site, id just googled JW!!!!!!! and this was the first site I went onto
I just read for hours and hours about how DFs ones had been so mistreated and I thought about all the times I had just thought ppl had "wanted" to be DFs
I knew nothing about the scandels of the WT but knew something was wrong . Then I read Cof C and that was it
I must say it was the friendlyness here that made me stay, I have been on other sites but I find they are too aggressive, This one has all the info you need, great topics and is truly welcoming !
Thanks Simon and Angharod for helping my family get its life back.
ive been here for sometime now.
long enough to know that some peoples hatred toward th wtbts and some of its members are based on wrong information.
for instance: ive read on hear many times that the wt promotes the idea that everyone whos not a witness are not friend material or will be destroyed at armageddon.

The reason I stopped going to the meeings was that my conscience allowed me or disallowed me to do things not approved of by the WT. I came to realize after reading the bible for myself and actually having some insight into it that when I had a conflict between what the bible says and what the WT promotes, the bible wins every time.
Its good that you wont allow the elders to rule you, as long as they dont find out
i was surprised at the number of people who popped in with running advice for vitty.
i didn't realize we had so many runners on board here.
i'm getting ready for my first triathlon next month and find myself wondering if we have any triathletes around here..... i have wanted to complete a tri ever since i ran the 1/2 marathon portion on a tri relay 1/2 ironman in 2003. i've shied away from them because the swim totally freaks me out.
I wish i had your energy, ive just realized after starting to exercise this week how terrible unfit I am. I know its going to be hard to keep motavated but ill just keep you )princess) in mind and im sure ill keep going
Oh and I hate swimming, i detest getting a wet swimsuit off yuck
.
i saw you whining on pele's thread about how you never got a hello so i thought i'd start a welcome thread for you.
so, tell us a little about yourself...
That was nice of you 74
I just sent him a PM to get him to formally introduce himself LOL
I thinks its important that everyone here feels that they are known and heard
So for the THIRD time HELLO
i must say, i never thought that i would see the day when i would find a site about disillusioned (mostly) jehovah's witnesses, but low and behold...one truly exists.
first let me start off by saying thank you to the creators of this site, and i'll have you know that i've been lurking for several days now and i am just finding the time to finally log on.
i've been a member of the borg for over 20 years now, been baptised for about 14 of those years and now i find myself in the most unusual of places.
not the administrater: Abig HELLO to you sorry I must have missed your first post
Pele A big hello to you too. I spent 20 of my adult years in the org, and started fading last year.
How old are your kids, if you dont get out for yourself do it for the kids. Unfortunitly my daughter is still in
My sister is in the same boat as you, at the moment shes really down cos she has no friends and shed really like to get married again but theirs a hugh shortage of brothers out there.
Im trying to encourage her to see the org for what it is
