  Who Was Shocked By the Watchtower UN NGO Scandal?

  i'd like to get comments from people about whether and how much they were shocked, surprised, or otherwise bothered by the watchtower society's becoming an associated non-governmental organization (ngo).. note that i'd like to see these comments because they might lead to some interesting publicity, so please comment accordingly.. alanf

  I was already out when I heard, but if I had still been in I dont think it would have phased me. I would have accepted their excuses.

  The enormity didnt hit me until I actually read the Awake article, sorry I cant remember which one) where it promotes the UN, this was given as evidence to the UN to show that it was in agreement with it.

  Now when I read it first I was still in, I remember not really paying much attention, but the way it is written is so sneaky. I didnt think it would have set off any alarlm bells, but when you understand the real reason they wrote it, it really hits you between the eyes.

  Then it was shocking !!!!!

  joyzabel's post on a recent thread, and my response to it, prompted an idea which i thought merited a new topic regarding the congregation's publisher record card and someone who's trying to do the 'fade.

  ' however, before you read a long post, i must emphasise i have no professional expertise in this area, it is simply an idea that came to me, and i would appreciate any constructive criticism.

  I remember someone on here suggested you give your old hall, a friends name and address to send your cards to if you move congregations. We are moving soon and would like to disappear. Would they check that youd given them the new secetarys name and address

  what excuse could anyone possibly have as to why they're not attending the 2 hours + of boring bullshit partaking of spiritual food this morning??

  as for me, i have a perfectly valid excuse: i'm doing laundry and baking banana bread this morning.

  what are you doing sunday morning instead of being told you're not doing enough in god's service?

  I would go but I strangely get a panic attack Sundays, Tuesday and Thursdays. I have actually said this to a persistant sister who kept ringing me up and asking where id been.

  Went back in time today !

  i was a little bored today and decided to look back at the beginnings of this board and try and pinpoint when it started to go "apostate".

  i was reading a post from someone called scorpion.

  his first post was 18th may 00. he was stuggling with his pioneering, he had 2 jobs and his wife had a bad back.

  I was reading a post from someone called Scorpion. His first post was 18th May 00. He was stuggling with his pioneering, he had 2 jobs and his wife had a bad back. He was advised to put his family first, he did.

  As I read through his posts I was really shocked by June 17th 00 he had DAs himself !

  He started off so zealous. Anyway his last post was november last year.

  Is this the quickest exit ever 1 month and it was pro witness then too!!!!!!!

  I recomend to anyone to go back in time its really funny and interesting.

  By the way if your still out there Scorpion, how are you?

  The Organization Trains Witnesses To Feel Guilty

  very seldom do you hear of a witness feeling like they are satisfied with what they have done in the "truth".

  most feel like they "need to do more".

  there's all this "urgency" to reach "honest hearted ones" before it is too late.

  If someone had asked me who was my mediator I would have said Jesus Christ, and i had studied that WT that said he was the mediator only of the 144,000.

  Many, many JW just dont know or maybe care what this really means. Its being obedient to the org not the bible thats really important.

  i've just been to a big conference where we discussed retention of members and statistically lds lose most members (in the uk anyway) as follows: .

  1/ 14 -18 (largest group) - i think it was 30% .

  2/ new converts (next largest) - in the front door and straight out the back.

  alright, so im not going to the meetings anymore after sunday.

  and the elder told my dad that ill have to be pulled from microphone, and all other privleges, maybe the school, if i dont cut my hair.

  it isnt even that long, its medium length hair.

  Have you told your parents your not going?

  If theve given you a hard time over the length of your hair be prepared for the fallout when you tell them your not going to the meetings.

  Even if they go beserk, you must try to stay calm. You should also look for somewhere else to stay (maybe a family member not in the org) in case they chuck you out.

  i was reading min's earliest posts and they sounded kinda 'wtlessey'.

  apparent attempts at defending da troof.. min were you already sick of it all and trying to keep your finger in the dyke, or did you really still believe and doing like some of the newbies do even now on this forum?.

  we all know the big scandals but what did you discover that really made you decide "this is enough??".

  I know this board started off pro witness. So when did it start to change, and did everyone start realizing about the truth together.

  it doesnt happen here so much but on other forums some have really annoying attachments.

  why do you need to put a really stupid saying or comment after every post or (picture).

  i find it really cringworthy and i get sick of trying to dicipher where the message ends and the inane comment start.

  I did watch it for a bit, but watching ppl in a living room is too much like big brother (the programme)

  I thought it was going to be a party, with loads of guests !!!!
