My Crock-pot was the best investment I've ever made. Throw a roast and some potatoes and carrots in there, turn it on, let it set all day, and it's done. Chicken legs and wings cook really well this way too. Put however many legs will fit in there w/ some BBQ or wing sauce, let it cook all day, and it will be falling off the bone. Make some green beans or corn to go w/ it and you're all set. As long as you keep whatever you're cooking in the crock-pot moist (wet) it won't burn or stick to the bottom. You can 'set it and forget it'...lol.

Candidly - that sucks! Maybe if you'd been able to claim all those 'donations' you got from the householder's as income over that time.......
Hey, but at least you put spiritual things first, didn't go to college and get and education, didn't put any money into savings b/c Armaged-dumb was right around the corner. See how well that's paying off now???

Ditto what Random Task said. I knew years ago that the supposed 'loving' organization was anything but that. In my 35 years associated with the truth I've seen lies, harmful gossip, abuse of authority, use of public humiliation to enforce compliance, hypocrisy, double standards, changes of doctrine - the EXACT thing that was always condemned by the WT as being 'false religion'. Made me think - hmmm, if this is how false religion is defined, then maybe the WTS isn't what it's cracked up to be. And this was years before I ever laid eyes on 'apostate' literature or websites. I've seen a lack of love so apparent on the part of many that there is simply NO WAY this is God's organization here on earth. While there are many sincere, decent Witnesses (I know, Danny, you take exception to this), they typically aren't the ones in 'power'. The judicial process is a joke - you get ten times more justice in a worldly court then you ever will in a judicial meeting conducted by uneducated, empowered, self-important men who oftentimes can't even explain the most basic doctrines of the WT in a coherent sense.
I found the responses to this post interesting because 'doctrinal' issues seem to be in the minority. Most of the responders seem to have identified the same behavior I did, left, and then became aware of the bogus doctrines being taught by the WT. I guess for those 'spies' watching and reading - Hey, Guys, PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH before you df anyone for anything. Idiots!

Kingdom Hall Destroyed By Fire
by Kenneson inthe denbigh, virginia kingdom hall was destroyed by an accidental fire begun by a member who was welding and soldering pipes in a bathroom.
the insulation ignited and although he tried to extinguish the blaze, he was unsuccessful.
3 congregations used the building; now they have nowhere to meet and will have to rebuild.. http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/dp-36592sy0jun30,0,4261948

Can you be a witness if your last name is "Cross"? I'm surprised he hasn't been told that, unless he changes his last name, he'll be df'd......

I bring home almost $7,000 a month and I'm usually broke too....lol. Maybe it's that damn child support (not that I resent it - I love my daughter and would never think of that as 'wasted' money). I was going out all the time - not to eat, but to clubs/bars, etc. I could easily burn through $300 between Fri/Sat night - every week. Actually, over the last six months, I've gotten ahead. Here's what I did -
1) I joined NetFlix - all the movies I want for $20/month w/ NO late fees (which were killing me).
2) I bought a big-screen, surround sound, and an XBOX. So now, instead of going out, I'll have some friends over to watch the game, or play XBOX live, or whatever (sounds expensive, but honestly it has saved me a ton of money).
3) I ditched my debit/ATM card so that now I have to go to the bank to get cash. It's a pain in the ass, so instead of spending that $15 or $20 (which was easy on my debit card), I just go home. Also, I got rid of all my credit cards. I went to ACE Check Cashing and got a reloadable Mastercard. That way, if I need to use it (for hotel reservation or whatever), I put the cash on it and use it. It's inconvenient, so it's hard to buy stuff you don't need 'cuz if you don't have money on it, you can't spend it, and you don't want to put $$ on it 'cuz it's a pain in the ass....lol. Amazing how my balances have dropped.
4) I buy all my movies, video games, CD's, and books off of Ebay, half.com, Half-Price books, or wait until the video store has a sale on pre-viewed DVD's.
5) I dumped my expensive girlfriend....lol. (Just kidding.) But seriously, if you're a single guy, dating is EXPENSIVE! And I'm bad about wanting to pay for everything and buy stuff for whomever I'm dating, so I'm just chilling on my own until I get a handle on my finances.
6) I upped the minutes plan on my cell phone. More expensive up front by about $30/month, but WAY cheaper than going over on my minutes at 25 cents per.
7) As all of you have said, I STOPPED EATING OUT!!!!! It's amazing how expensive that is. What's really cool is that if you have a gas grill and invite people over, usually they'll provide the food if you cook. (I know, I sound like a cheap bastard...lol).
Ditching my debit card was probably the best thing I've ever done. True, it's inconvenient sometimes, but where my bank statement used to be four pages long, it's now two. It keeps me from nickel and diming myself to death. Basically, we're all broke, no matter how much we make...lol. I remember back in the late 80's I was supporting a family on $6.45/hour while I was in school. Now I look back and have NO CLUE how I did that......

The Watchtower is Frightened ...of Biblical Flags!
by metatron inin the aug. 1 wt, in a secondary article on numbers, the following paragraph appears:.
"what were "the signs" around which the three-tribe divisions were to encamp in the wilderness?.
the bible does not give a description of what these signs were.

Jehovahs Witness Double Standards
by truthbeliever inthe society said in past issues of the watchtower that reading "apostate" literature is just as bad as reading pornography, here is where a double standard comes into play.a person can't be disfellowshipped for reading pornography, but can for reading other literature.i don't get that.also they claim that music is a conscience matter, yet how long could a brother or sister listen to a great gospel tape or cd before being disfellowshipped?if a man grew a beard you think that they would be treated well at the kingdom hall?one last thing,if the society wasnt promoting the 1975 date, and never said it,then why were there not loads of disfellowshippings before the failed date for apostasy by promoting a false date?these are just a few of the many double standards that i have observed.god bless you all.

JW's are the official religion of the Double Standard.
The incident in Crisis of Conscience regarding the brothers in Malawi and the contrasting position in Mexico is a great one.
Another instance in there that I totally did not know about was that, in the 60's, having sex w/ an animal was not considered 'adultery'. He mentions a case where a woman caught her husband having sex w/ an animal, but the Society wouldn't let her divorce him, nor was he df'd. When she did (for obvious reasons), she was disfellowshipped for an unscriptural divorce. Huh?????
How they love to bash on other 'churches' for their 'missteps' and hypocrisy. What if it had been the Catholics, or the Methodists that had been proclaiming so vehemently over the last 50 years that the UN was the wild beast and then been caught 'in bed' w/ them? How many gleeful references would there have been in the WT about the 'hypocrisy of false religion'. (If I remember correctly, there is an article in the late 80's that mentions the Catholic Church and condemns them for being an NGO). Yet, when caught themselves, they won't even admit to it, much less 'repent'.
Were the brothers that signed the UN documents df'd for apostasy? I promise if it had been Joe or Jane Publisher, they would have been in front of a JC so quick for 'reproaching Jehovah's name'.
Why do they tell their bible studies to 'look up' and 'examine' everything they're being taught, but if you do it AFTER you are a JW you'll be df'd?
Why do they tell you over and over that Jehovah wants your service, no matter how small, as long as it's the 'best you can do', and yet if you're not one of the '110 percenters' you're basically on the outside and the brothers will counsel you for 'bringing the congregation average down'?

Typical cult practice - instill fear of some 'catastrophic event' that, unless you are part of the cult you will not live through. They've been wrong on everything else, so it stands to reason they'd be wrong on this too. Since I left, I've done some study on the book of Revelation and read some books by 'secular' authors, and it's interesting how other people view the events of Revelation. (I recommend any of Tim Lahay's books on Revelation.) Most seem to agree that the events of Revelation will be devastating to the earth and those on it, but that it's a time that God will use to bring as many to him as possible. Contrast that to the Witness view that if you're not already 'saved' you're going to die.
My personal feeling is that the 'end of the world', however it plays out, is going to be not as any of us think. The only thing we can do is to do what the Bible says (not the WT) - believe on Jesus Christ as our redeemer, develop a personal relationship w/ him, follow the code of conduct of the Bible (not the WT), and believe that his kind and merciful nature will overcome our deficiencies. Then, regardless of what happens at 'Armageddon', we will have done what the Bible says and therefore should have no fears or worries.
I love how the JW's tell you that, not only do you have to do all their crap, but if you don't do it right you STILL might die at Armageddon. What a crock.

An honest question...
by TallTexan inlet me preface this by saying that what i'm asking is a legitimate question.
i'm not doubting anyone, or accusing anyone of lying, or being an a-hole (well, no more than usual).
if you have a legitimate response to my question, please post or pm me, but please do not throw rocks or otherwise abuse me because this is an honest question regarding molestation w/in the jw community.. i was an active jw for 25 years and have continued to be associated with my still-jw friends for ten years since.

Fair enough. You guys make some really valid points and I do agree that the policy definitely needs to be changed. Many of you have indeed had some pretty horrid experiences as a result of the policy and the way things are currently handled. Like I said, I in no way disbelieve any of these things, I just personally had never heard of them. My heart goes out to all of you that have experienced the application of this policy. Being molested is bad enough, but when the only 'authority' figures in your life won't even listen, it must makes it that much worse. Thanks to everyone for your candor and fair-mindedness on this post.
