I don't know if I should see it...it has a WITCH in it..... ;-)
My girlfriend can't believe that I couldn't watch Bewitched, I Dream of Genie or any shows that had 'occultic' overtones when I was growing up....
i thought the photography was awesome and enjoyed the story.
i loved the books when i was younger and i'm glad they finally made it into a movie.

484...great game.
i have a friend that was dumb enough to allow two elders in his house at the same time to talk to him, he let them in.
i have told him over and over again never to talk to two elders at the same time.
i'll get to the point.
Invite them in, 'stink-palm' them (Mallrats, anyone?), tell them he doesn't care what they do, take out an ad and publish his disassociation letter in the paper, and be done with them.....
historians say that king herod the great the famous baby killer who sought to kill baby jesus, died in the year 4 b.c.. now all those religious groups like the jws who believe jesus was born oct 1/2, 2 b.c.
seem to have a real problem reconciling that with historians.
how could a man dead for 2 years carry out this act of aggression against the son of god?
Did anyone catch the History Channel's "Jesus" weekend? They had an excellent couple of hours on the origins of the Christmas "story" and discussed both the timing of Jesus' birth and the story of Herrod's "slaughter of the innocents".
It was pretty interesting. The thought on the Herrod story was that: a) Herrod could have and would have committed such an atrocity, as he even had a number of his own family members murdered, b) The population of Bethlehem was so small that it may have only comprised 20 children, thus having been insignificant enough to escape the radar, c) that it probably didn't happen and was a ripoff of the "Moses" story used to try and give credibility to the Messiah.
As to Jesus' birth year, they claim that it is most likely between 4-6 B.C. When the Roman researcher who established the modern AD calender did his research, he basically didn't do it right and thus the error.
we all remember one of the arguments the society used to make christmas look bad.. they said christendom at this time of the year, see's jesus as a little baby in a manger (nativity scene), rather than the king in heaven he now is.
that's a lie.. ask any christian on this planet if they think jesus at this time is a little baby in a manger.
if he was, then mary is back on earth taking care of him and herod is out looking to kill him.
One of these years, I STILL want to put up a nativity scene in front of our kingdom hall on Christmas eve right after dark. I'll prolly get caught too.
Gumby,
Call me and I'll be happy to help....maybe string up some Christmas lights and a big star on top of the hall....
i was reading on the web about gays and jw's.
first of all i am gay.
i am not saying i am sorry as i don't feel there is anything bad about it.
A number of years ago a couple of guys I knew from a congregation in Houston were convicted in the gay-bashing murder of a gay man on Westheimer. They denied they were there, but one of them had the dead guy's wallet in his room.
The comical thing was that in the talks around the time when this incident was mentioned, there was no "Hey, it was wrong to murder this guy", it was all about how bad association gets you into situations you shouldn't be in.
i personally don't care what anyone else believes.
i believe that there is a creator that created the heavens and earth.
i believe that it occurred over a period much longer than 7 literal days.. here's my problem.

Here's my problem. Why is it that my children (or anyone's for that matter) HAVE to be taught evolution when there are more holes in the evolutionary theory then in a block of swiss cheese. There is no absolute proof of evolution. According to Communist News Network, uh, I mean, CNN poll, 83% of Americans believe in either creationism OR intelligent design. So why should our children be taught something that less than 20% of the country actually believes?
Oh, I know why. Because a bunch of left-wing Karl Marx wanna-bees control the education system.
as a jw on the field service did you ever find people that were afflicted by very difficult or even dramatic situations and problems?
was it possible to help them?
After we left the door, the elder counselled me that if she really wanted to learn about Jehovah, she would have found 20 cents and paid for the mags, and giving her the 5 bucks was a mistake because now she would think that all dubs would give her a donation.
Yeah, now the society is out $5.20 - her $0.20 and your $5 that you SHOULD have given as a donation.....
i can't stand it i got to post.
the grand canyon actually disprove creationist because granit rock is the toughest of rocks found on earth.
the grand canyon has areas filled only with granit rock.
Guess I didn't respond because:
a) Your post didn't make any sense
b) I don't know what 'granit' rock is....
.
this was a post in the "friends" section but i think it's important and a really good idea.. but it's gonna get washed away by other topics... .
how about every lurker on here and all others spreading the news that unhappy jw's worldwide are to do a general boycott of all jw related activities (meetings, fs, etc) in for the entire month of february 2006. would be interesting to see what happens to the us average publishers for that month... come on just be irregular for one month!.
Yadayada,
Yeah, I see that now. Good point. I thought after initially reading it was just for those on the board who are still active to not go. Makes more sense the other way, though....
