  Sister Sneaky/Deceptive in the ER this morning......

  i had a chilling experience with a sister sneaky/deceptive this morning at the er where i went for some lab work and to get my eye infection treated.

  sister sneaky/deceptive was the one who interviewed me to obtain info to put me in their computer system.

  as she progressed with her questions, she asked:

  Well, don't beat yourself up because you feel that you could have done a better job. It probably wouldn't have made any difference anyway. She still would have felt that you were simply a sad case of someone who turned away from the righteous fruitage and wonderful educational paradise of the Society. I'm sure she had a good laugh at your expense with her self-righteous friends. But, you're even with her...we're laughing at her expense.....

  Mom coming for a visit

  my mom arrives tomorrow for a week long visit.

  i'm seriously debating having a conversation with her, not about doctrinal issues, but more of what bothers me in regards to the mind control aspect of it all.

  i have been reading twisted scriptures, and the subtle power of spiritual abuse.

  I think you should at least try and broach the subject. If you get shut down, then so be it. But it's just like going in service (well, except it's not that boring) - you never know what has happened since your last visit to change her receptiveness. I went through very similar things with some close family members, but one day they were receptive and now they have come to know the REAL 'truth'.

  The problem with having family/friends in the truth when you are not is that you will never have a meaningful relationship with them unless you are at least honest. Then it is in their court. If they shun you, well, that's up to them. At least you know you tried. I'm facing very similar issues with some of my very best life-long friends who are on the verge of not speaking to me because of my 'apostasy'. If they choose that route, then I guess they weren't worth having as friends anyway....at least that's what I tell myself. :-)

  after a century of preaching and selling literaturature what do people know about the jw's message.

  they don't take blood transfusions.

  they don't celebrate birthdays.

  Well, it goes to show how effective the 30-second "Here, buy this magazine" presentations are. As Ray points out in Christian Freedom, it's a little hard to believe that God is going to judge someone based on their receptiveness to that....

  "Deliverance At Hand" 2006 Convention

  many of us are familiar with the theme of this years district convention, "deliverance at hand".

  i don't know if the publication release has been leaked yet, but i thought it might be fun to speculate about what it possibly could be.

  i'll start it off... .

  In order to facilitate the simplification arrangement with regard to taking meals outside the convention centers

  Translation:

  We know 30% of the 'flock' is leaving at 11 a.m. to beat the lunch rush, having a couple of margaritas over lunch, then not returning until 2 p.m. because of the 'lunch rush' that they somehow didn't manage to beat. Therefore, there will be barbed wire, guard towers (er, watchtowers?), land mines, and German Shepherds placed outside of the convention facility to ensure that you are able to partake of the quality spiritual food provided by the FDS. Oh, btw, you are not being prevented from using your free will. Oh, and please only stay at our hotels, even if all the rooms are full. Stay 3 families to a room if necessary.

  See, there are many alternatives to answering the question. If it weren't for several family members who are very close to me who would be 'punished' for my actions, I'd tell them all to screw off.....

  Anybody answered personal adds from dating services?

  i am friends with a divorced woman.....(true to myself, because i have once been one i share my time with one so she isn't so blue and "alone").

  she visits me and shows me her online dating sites and the things "guys" say about themselves.

  it's quite entertaining and we laugh together as she shares me her online "winks".. one was from a guy that is "fiesty and sassy".............

  Letter from Mom

  i was brought up a jw and left basically when i was 17 with no word.

  my parents went back and forth to the hall.

  Gary,

  Although your story is sad, we all know how unfortunately common it is. I applaud you for your ability to overcome it and to make the choice to do what makes you happy. Not everyone has that kind of inner fortitude. I'm fortunate that I haven't had to deal with that - well, at least not from my parents - friends and other family though is another story.

  Nice to know how they label apostates as those 'hating their brothers' and 'beating their fellow slaves' - as usual with the Witnesses, everything they do is justified, while the rest of us are always in the wrong.
