  How many congos

  1. moultrie georgia, my dad helped build the town's first kingdom hall.. 2. ft. walton beach, told ken rogers i wanted to marry his daughter melanie.

  3. pensacola, always ticked off that i had to go to meeting when lost in space was coming on.

  4. jesup, ga, tiny little white block bldg, had to pass speaker to go to the bathroom, i was only witness kid in the town.

  I would like to be specific with dates and places, but it may give someone away who is trying to remain anonymous, so I have to be vague.

  1) Born into this one. Stayed 9 years. The CO was very pleased with this cong at the time and their 'fine example'. Very arrogant body of elders (according to one of them who told me that later). Most are df'd or inactive now.

  2) Moved into this one, stayed for 10 years. Small town. I was one of the only JW kids in town. Small cong. Got to give a lot of talks and have a lot of privileges for being so young. This cong was eventually dissolved because a new elder and a new MS moved in. They and their pioneer wives couldn't get along with the rest of the body of elders and their pioneer wives. It was obviously bad to be dissolved. Had to drive 45 miles to the nearest hall 3 x a week....and to go inservice. It was eventually reinstated but should be dissolved again, because the body of elders and most of the rest of the cong are the epitome of the loveless, backstabbing, power-hungry JW's.

  3) Stayed in this one 2 years. Moved to this town to go to junior college. Because of that and my spotty meeting attendance, I was pretty much an afterthought in the grand scheme of things.

  4) Stayed in this one a year. Moved here after J.C. and after I got a job. Had family in this one. Overall, not a bad cong at all. Some very nice people.

  5) Stayed in this one for four years. My work schedule prevented me from being regular, so I got a lot of the 'if you were regular you could do (fill in the blank.) A few very decent people, but many more really rotten ones.

  6) Moved again, was inactive for four years. Went to this cong for three months. Very decent lot, but really let me down when I felt like I needed their help the most. Thankfully, because it got me started on this road. That was five years ago.

  So I guess 6 congs in 30 active years.

  Do you get "bushwhacked"?

  does what you should have said occur to you 15 minutes later or the next day?

  Are Winter Olympics Boring?

  is it just me or are the winter olympics boring?.

  i dunno, maybe ice hockey sometimes is interesting and a few of the short speed skating events...but ice skating, all the skiing events, even snowboarding....it all seems pretty boring to me.

  and i like to ski but watching it on tv - boring.. the summer games are so much more interesting.. -eduardo

  All olympics are boring. If I want to watch track and field, I'll watch the local high school. Oh wait - I don't want to watch track and field.

  Anyone seen Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx?

  Good movie until you get to the cliched and dumb ending.

  "The Great Raid"...now THAT'S a great movie.

  any good pranks????....

  now this might be childish and immature but we all have our moments... i was thinking of some pranks to pull on the kh and one i thought of is calling during every meeting doing different voices (block your number) and ask for pizza, chinese food, you name it.

  also i work at a call center for a magazine company and i was thinking that on my last day that i will set up a trial subscription for them they will get sooo much junk mail and invoices hehe .

  any good ideas of more pranks?

  That link to Nate's stuff was absolutely hilarious. What's NOT funny about painting "Elders Parking" on a few signs. The call to the newspaper was priceless.

  How about dropping an 'unidentified white powder' into the contribution box with a threatening note. What's not funny about an anthrax scare? Well, aside from the federal prison time.

  Trim the shrubs into any variety of words, phrases, or pictures.

  Slip over the night before the Sunday meeting and stick some JB Weld into the key locks.

  Turn off the water at the main during the meeting.

  Put police tape up around the premises before the meeting.

  Interesting. Islam is so accepting of other cultures and religions. That's why they want to kill the 'infidel' and as many innocent people as they can. Perhaps when they stop killing members of other religions and cultures that they don't agree with, then maybe the world will be more tolerant or 'accepting' of them.

  Ah...typical JW...anyone who has left is automatically a Satan worshipper, a liar, and a slanderer. One question -

  Has the R&F gotten so dumbed down that they don't know how to spell, capitalize, or punctuate? Ezra and PMJ really need to go back to school, or at the least pick up a Writer's Handbook.

  I got a lot of spankings growing up. I probably needed them, though, and I'm not emotionally scarred or anything. I have a great relationship with my parents. I agree that 'beating your child with a rod' is a bad idea, but half of the problems with today's kids is that parents are afraid to give their kids a good whipping from time to time. All this Dr. Spock 'no discipline' mentality has raised a generation of rude, lazy, insolent children who have to be told 10 times to do something. I agree that many JW's take it to extreme, as do many 'worldly' people. Child abuse happens everywhere and I think it's a little short-sighted to say that only JW's 'beat' their kids. It may perhaps be a little more acceptable in public (meaning at the KH), but I hardly think that the quoted scripture was a green light to beat your kid with a rod.

  I do remember this one kid in our hall and we used to laugh at him because his daddy would take him outside and then come back in buckling up his belt. I don't know why, but when we were kids it seemed kind of funny. Like his dad was such a big man and had to show everyone that he just beat his kid. He was a pretty bad kid, though.

  What I find interesting as well is that he actually made mention of an older publication. Wonder what other 'nuggets' of truth are in there?

  And here I missed it...my favorite kind of talk - where the speaker spoke 'slowly and clearly'. Wonder what the sleep/attention ratio was?

  every line is so well crafted and the story, published in the new yorker magazine in 1997, is much more than two young men falling in love.

  one of the major themes of the movie is fear.

  Know of any good ways to catch teen pranksters?

  a friend of ours visits us for the weekend from time to time and he parks his car on the street in front of our house.

  the past two weekends someone (im guessing they live nearby) has egged his car!

  i don't think it's a personal thing (meaning i seriously doubt he knows the pranksters personally) rather i think its just some teens walking by seeing an easy target.
