Okay I am such a forerunner in the "looks aren't that important category" but wowza ! If he were my man, he'd have a full scale waxing membership at the nearest salon...either that or I'd take him to be sheared twice weekly!

I don't know if it's worth throwing my two cents in, but I just wanted to say that I hope everything works out for you. It's amazing how the heart works and who it leads us to. It seems to ignore such things as age, status, religion, etc... and sometimes that works to our benefit and sometimes it doesn't. Certainly someone who simply reads your posts and far removed from the situation can easily cast it off and say "he's to young" / "you're just lonely" / "he played you" etc...but appreciating that you've invested much in this relationship, I truly hope that you are able to find happiness be it with or without JJ as a friend or as more...
Cheers!

Crying at the movies
by Insomniac ini have a hard time expressing my emotions in front of others.
i mean, i'd rather be naked than to let anyone see me cry.
however, there are a few movies that can, in spite of my best efforts, make me bust out crying like a little girl: .

How many of you gave up a college scholarship?
by codeblue inhow many of you gave up a college scholarship to appear "spiritual"?
jt's thread about "homegrown lawyers" and the wtbs willingly sending certain ones to college started me thinking about that question.
i know i for one, relinquished that scholarship to show how "spiritual" i was at 18. .

I gave up a fully paid scholarship to the university of my choice... but I did so of my own accord. My parents let me make the decision myself. I reasoned that I could still get a good job without university and start my pioneering career right away. As crazy as that sounds now, I honestly wanted to take that road, and for a time, I was happy pioneering. Even now, I look back on that experience with fond memories. Today, I am just thankful that the good job did come through for me. However, I know that while I still have youth on my side, I will go back and apply for some further formalized education.

It's not just getting dressed to go out, it's planing for it. Then go out on a "date" and do everything you would have done on a first date. Show her alot of attention, hold her hand, dont look at other women, make her feel so special for the evening.
Chevy - you are right on the money with this one! I agree completely!

Are we too hard on INDIVIDUAL JW's?
by outbutnotdown ini am definitely no longer a jw (11 years).
that having been said, living in a "democratic" land, the one thing that is challenging is agreeing with freedom of religion, but also protesting when it becomes offensive.
don't get me wrong..... my family shuns me completely and i do think that it is "offensive", and against the laws of nature, which makes the point even more legitimate...... : do they really know what they are doing?

Latest Watchtower study... Still discouraging higher education!!!
by Doubtfully Yours inone of the paragraphs read that 'if in the area where you live you need higher education after you graduate, then the young person must speak with the parents in order to help them balance the schedule so that he/she doesn't neglect spiritual things'.
alright, i thought, that's a somewhat balanced point of view; i thought, good they're coming along with the times we live in.
yeah, right!!!

Logan - I completely agree with your posts in this thread...
They simply don't see the benefit of "excelling" in a world that they believe is on it's last legs....
Many bros I knew owned their own window cleaning businesses and did very well for themselves.
I agree that education is key in today's business world but when it comes to religion, just because a person doesn't go on to university does not make them a blind robot. I know many high school grads, who although not having formal teaching, lead very fulfilling lives, are intelligent and can think for themselves.
