  Are there benefits to DAing Yourself?

  i've been away from this board for a really long time, since then i've made huge progress in my recovery from life in the jw world thanks to some professional help.

  now i am at the point where i just don't want to be anywhere near anyone remotely associated with the organization.

  my parents no longer speak to my husband and i, but when i do have to interact with my jw inlaws i feel incredibly sick.

  Hello Zen and welcome back. Glad your recovery is moving along. I never had the opportunity to do the fade. My life as a 3rd generation dub was so connected with the org that someone sometime would have noticed and reported me. I know some say that by DAing yourself you are just allowing yourself to be controlled by their system. That maybe true, but with the recent push towards "loyalty tests", I think if many faders are observed doing "bad stuff" they will be DF'd. The announcement may be the same, but I liked being able to say I did it on principal. I left because I no longer believed the same things they did and I wasn't going to hide. Good Luck

  i seen a lot of emphasis on the resurrection in the borg recently like the dc talk preparing people for dying in "this system" and calling them presumptious for thinking otherwise and the recent wt study articles.

  but does the borg still teach that death is the wages of sin.

  does this appply to people df'd and da'd who die?

But does the borg still teach that death is the wages of sin. Does this appply to people DF'd and DA'd who die? Understand, I don't believe any of this bullshit - but doesn't their own teachings allow for a clean slate in the resurrection? So if they are teaching that the end is not really close - then what's the point of staying in?

  Mental breakdown blamed on demons

  all this demon talk reminded me of an incident that happened in our hall to a friends mother.

  she had just had a baby, her 4th, that was unexpected.

  her other 3 kids were much older.

  Assembly in Salt Lake City

  my wife is going to the assembly in salt lake city over the 4th of july weekend.

  anyone here condemned to that one?

  i heard they are going to have huge fireworks display to celebrate the 4th and.........well, maybe i didn't hear that.

  Why would someone who has disassociated allow their child to be taken to KH

  i just read the listeners post about baptisms at the district conventions and didn't want to disrupt the thread.

  i'm curious, why would someone allow their child to attend the kh or district convention and possibly be pressured into getting baptized?

  Thank you Talesin for your reasoned response. I am in the situation you describe. After 35 years and 3 generations, I stopped drinking the Kool ade and disassociated myself. Prior to that, I had many conversations with my devout wife. She couldn't answer my questions or doubts (neither could any of my friends who were elders). She still believes that no matter what the conduct or mistakes of the GB - it's still jah's org. At the time our son was 3 years old. At one point we were looking at divorce, but through much anguish and heartache - we decided on a compromise: We both love each other very much We both love our son (and now a daughter due in August!) We both have equal rights as parents and both truly believe we are doing what is in the child's best interests. She takes him to about half the meetings per month, I get him the other half. I celebrate most of the holidays with him and she is tolerant of that. We both express to him what we believe without putting down the other person. So far - he has done well with this arrangement. He knows mom and dad believe differently and that he will be allowed to choose when appropriate. Who knows if our arrangement will work out in the long run, but I still think it's better than divorce.

  now i only drive automatic transmission cars....because there is so much traffic and too many stop signs.

  it becomes annoying.

  i used to love driving manual transmissions, but no more.. the internet is one other thing that i wouldn't be able to do without.. how about you?.
