i'm not sure, but something similar happened in my family. my grandmother married a divorced JW whose ex was "wordly". he figured he had sufficient enough evidence to prove that she was unfaithful (they'd been separated for years and years), so he went ahead and married my grandmother- an elder from our Hall was even in the wedding. anyways, when he didn't go along with every little crazy thing in the congregation, the elders decided to investigate whether his marriage to my grandmother was legitimate, a YEAR later (the elder who was in the wedding even denied being in it... like we didn't have PHOTOS!). to make a long story short, my grandmother and her new husband (now of 8 years) were not disfellowshipped, but he did lose his position as a ministerial servant. maybe they went lightly on them because they were seniors! lol. they changed halls, but are still JW. wacky stuff.

Question on DF'ing
by Agent Smith in.
ok...if 2 dubs divorce just because they hate each other, they are not free to remarry.. if one of them does remarry, he or she will be df'ed.
lets say that this person gets married with another dub....what happens to that person?

i have the same issue about my mother- how she's so quick to fault other religions about their wrongs, but the Organization can do no wrong. it's so frustrating. i also was gradually fed up, especially by the 1914 stuff. tuesday, keep writing- it really helps to clear the mind... littletree

Time to de-lurk!
by nevergotwet ini've been lurking around these parts for a while and thought it was time to make a post, although one or two of you have come across me when i wandered into chat a few weeks back.
just a quick intro: .
i'm early 30's, was involved with the dubs since birth, but made the break when i was 18 to go to university (culture shock!).

welcome, nevergotwet! since i'm a "newbie" like yourself, this is actually my first time welcoming someone! haha I lurked around this site, too, for almost a year. The family members whom I'm closest to are all JW, but as you'd guess, they're not so close to me anymore. anyway, good to have ya. for every new person that joins here, it just strengthens my resolve to stay away from that wacky world that I once thought was the Truth. littletree

You are EX-JWs because you want to live an immoral life!
by Sirona inmany jehovah's witnesses believe what they've been told about ex-witnesses.
they say that exjws simply want to live an immoral life.
they say that exjws cannot live up to "jehovah's standards".

well, i've only been gone less than a year (oh yeah, and i peeped back in to my mom's Memorial). but a year before THAT is when i left- NOT to live a life of "immorality"- but 1st because i was tired of trying to keep up with the meetings, field service hours, and requirements that i didn't see as truly required by God. but then i started finding out things on the Internet and reading "Crisis of Conscience." but in this past year- i've never had the desire to run out and do drugs, or smoke, or live promiscuously. i do have a boyfriend now, the only guy i've ever been with, but i think i should get credit for holding our for 26 years! lol (and this "wordly" man was not at all like the some of the teenage witness boys who've tried to feel me up when i was younger. i was the one chasing after HIM! well what do you expect?) :-) littletree

Is the Devil making you happy, too?
by littletree inthis is my first post, and i'm so excited (i've been reading posts on this site for over a year now; i tried to register back in october 2003, but had some problems.
i decided to just go ahead and use my "real" work e-mail address, which seemed to have worked.
just for a short introduction- i got baptized at 14, on september 1, 2001. and on september 1, 2003, the last day of our district convention, i decided i was never going back.

Cyber-sista: Oh! I just HATED when they would say that being "comfortable" was a sin!!! How can they have the audacity to attribute so many GOOD things to the Devil!? Finding this board about a year ago was REALLY and TRULY one of the best things that could've happened to me, because I then knew that I wasn't the only person out there who felt the same way! My mom suffers (always tired, has a mean and grumpy Witness husband, and works full-time while pioneering)- yet I would think that being a pioneer would help her to be happy. I hate seeing her so tired all the time, slaving "for Jehovah." I wish that she would see that she's serving MEN not God. Yet, she pities ME because I've left. It sucks. Well, I try to stay as close to her as she'll allow, for now, and hope that some of my sneaky apostate remarks will get to her! (evil laugh:) BOO-HA HA HA HA ha haha!!!!!

Sphere- I went with the name "littletree" because I feel like I have alot of growing to do! And Steve, itsallgoodnow, and cyber-sista- Thanks for the encouragement. I remember sitting at that last district convention feeling so differently than I had in the past. It was like the information just rolled off of me like water off of a duck's back! haha Especially when they started mentioning- more than once- how DANGEROUS the Internet is!?!?! To think that free information, potentially life-saving information, could be so dangerous! That's what made me feel creeped-out: they don't even want people to learn for themselves, find out if "the Truth" is what it says it is. Looking back , it all seems so cultish.

Idiotic things only a jw would say
by micheal ina c.o in one of his friday night talks noticed when he was invited for meals at the brothers and sisters homes that everyone has their chairs and sofa's pointed at the direction of the television set and asked why do people do that.
then he went on to strongly suggest that everyone change this and either have their furniture pointed somewhere else or get rid of the television.
what a total moron!!

In the Kingdom Ministry (geez, it took me a while to remember what that little paper was called!), there was an article about gatherings. One of our elders was delivering the part, and he said, "see, it didn't say anywhere in here that we are supposed to dance!" How retarded! To think that if something isn't explicitly mentioned then it's a no-no. Oh, I went out with his son a few times, and he did more than "dance"...

allpoweredup- They will never be able to show more love, because they only truly "love" their own, fellow witnesses. They are REALLY missing out on getting to know some great people in this world.

Thanks ALL for the welcomes! And Fleur, yes, I have a lot of growing to do before I'm a big tree. But thank God I got out from there before I died (figuratively and literally). My mind was getting more and more screwed up. Right before I left, I told the elders about my doubts, and their suggestion of course was that I read and study more. duh! Why would I read something that I determined was untrue!!!
