So, two myriads of myriads would come to 200 million.* footnote: Commentary on Revelation by Henry Barclay Swete, notes regarding the number "two myriads of myriads": "These vast numbers forbid us to seek a litteral fulfillment, and the description which follows supports this conclusion."

Oh but 144,000 is such a small number that it must be literal (Revelation Climax, page 151, para. 10)

I'm quite familiar with Pear Tree Cong. I know a family who moved to Lewisham, London for many years, then went all the way back up to Pear Tree and Littleover Congregations in Derbyshire.

I'm also quite familiar with my auntie's congregations, Halifax and King Cross, both in West Yorkshire, UK and my grandmothers cong, Walthamstow London, UK. I was there every school holiday.

I also know a few from Catford, Downham, and Deptford Congs, which have all split from Lewisham, London.

In fact, i probably know many people from most London Congregations, because my dad has given talks in many of them.

a man who used a mobile phone dating site to "groom" a girl of 13 before having sex with her was jailed for a year yesterday.. the high court in glasgow was told duncan mccormick, 24, swapped texts with the fife schoolgirl for nine weeks before persuading her to meet.. the pair had sex in a fife hotel just five days after she turned 14.. jehovah's witness mccormick, a computer science graduate from thornliebank, glasgow, admitted having unlawful sex with the girl.. police were called after the girl's mum became suspicious and she confessed.. mccormick told them he was aware of her age but could not help himself.

My first was 29 when i was 17... and my second was 16 when i was 18... I didn't have sex with my first bf, but i did lose my V with my second... i wouldn't even have minded losing my virginity at 15 tho, i see nothing wrong with it... its just that at the time, my brain was in a Watchtower headlock. I think the laws, which convict an 18 yr old for having sex with a 17 yr old, are very stupid... It should be the case that you can be convicted only if you have intercourse with a "minor" more than 3 or 4 years younger than yourself... this way, 14/15 yr olds can get on with experimenting in their normal teenage way, but without being taken in by old paedophiles. In my opinion, its only society (backed up by a tradition of dogmatc religions) which has imposed such a high age of sexual consent. Our society has this taboo, but its entirely natural and should be considered normal if 14/15 yr olds choose to "experiment"... but obviously it must not be allowed to go to too far extremes either way. PS. Forgive me if i've offended anyone with my opinions.

Do you think that JW's leaders are going to announce a new date in 2006?

i was reading a thread here the other and it mentioned that the assembly for 2006 will be "delivance at hand".

is this going to be like 1974 when every jw's thought the end was going to come in 1975?

i don't think jw's leaders would be that stupid again and build jw's for another date-setting letdown.

They are definately not going to release a new date... That would kill them... As soon as the date was uttered, it would trigger rogue thought patterns in the rank-and-file... Even those who have never heard of 1975 and/or those who are "strong in the truth" would begin to think twice. We are too far into the 21st century, i doubt if they'd be able to survive another date setting fiasco, and i think they know that.

The Sahara...

Ohhhh, "dessert"!....

Its got to be either tiramisu, apple crumple with custard or "dorayaki", i can't make up my mind. I can finish a whole bowl of tiramisu in a flash, but i prefer to use a tea-spoon and savour every bite, so it will last longer... Apple crumple is much tastier than apple pie, its my all-time favourite warm dessert, especially with raisins which have been soaked in dark rum. Mmmmmm....

Dorayaki is where i get my forum-name from. Its a Japanese dessert consisting of a pancake-like cake, filled with Anko bean paste. Its soooo delicious.

Put whipped cream or custard on it and its even more oishiiiiii* !!!

* oishii = delicious / tasty

It ain't just the media. You have to tell the guy's that I work with that. They are too funny! "Oh, I broke my nail." (in a try to be feminine voice) He cracks me up! He says that he and his lover both act like girls...(but something about one being the "driver") Whatever that means?? His partner is a drag queen.

LOOL... I admit that it aint JUST the media, but i believe the media heavily influences the way gay people feel about ourselves. I've seen a fair share of "camp" (effeminate) gay people in my time, but there's nothing intrinsic in us that makes us act effeminate.

My own actions are quite maculine, and when i tell people im gay their first reaction is "but you're not al all camp"... I'm not saying i don't have my moments, but they're very rare amd they're usually comic incidents.

Just don't agree with what they do in private!
