i had a disagreement with xq in chat today, because he was trying to say that jws for the most part disobey the wts and still treat family like family even if they are dfd or quit being witnesses.. i don't feel that is true.
i think that the majority of us on here who no longer are jws have family members who no longer have anything to do with us and shun us.... so i said it would be interesting to take a poll and see how many here are treated just like all the rest of your 'loving family' who is a jw still.......are you treated the same?.
does family shun you for being df'd, da'd or no longer participating?or do they hide and talk to you but only when other active jws can't see?
I never was, or ever will be a J.W. But, I have family in it, and that's why I am here. I can relate to this post with this true story.
My sister-in-law is a devote J.W. Her daughter was engaged to a baptized J.W., and was seeing him a lot, out of site of her Mom. Her mother told my daughter, who is studying with the J.W.'s, that "If she found out that her daughter was having relations with her boyfriend, she would HAVE TO shun her."
AND SHE WASN'T EVEN BAPTIZED YET !!!!

i am doing some research on mormons, along with the watchtower org., and i'm looking for similar beliefs between the two.. i found a few, (i think), like:.
both believe in shunning.. both use the term "apostate".. both have "end time " predictions.... mormons = generation of 1832.. does anyone know of any other similarities?

Thanks, Revmalk, for clarifying that for me, and thanks for bringing up the site. Yes, I can see now that it isn't Mormon church policy to shun, just some people's choice that want to.
WOW !! Why don't they write big articles like this about the Jehovah Witness cult in my hometown papers. All we get is 2 by 2 inch articles on them, buried in the obituaries.

while driving thru town the other day, i noticed a kingdom hall with a "for sale" sign in front of it.
i am wondering...... what are your views on why they would sell it?
My theory is; The congregation may have been offered a "free" home or land in which to build on, from a will donation, so they would make a huge profit on the sale of the old Kingdomm Hall, and get a new one for practically nill.
I do know an ex-j.w. that, a few years ago, was "asked" to donate some of his land to build a Hall on, so that's why I have this theory. (He didn't). ..... Hubert.

So, it's not God that says this, it's the Watchtower who says it. Maybe you can use this quote.
