You hit upon the same discrepancy as I was writing my post :).

but as long as we look to him as our Helper, he will safeguard us against all things that could bring us spiritual harm.
Thus, we can always count on Jehovah to help us maintain our spiritual health. Of course this will not be the case if we neglect our spiritual health, because then we lose our bond with Jehovah and can't expect him to help us with anything.
In other words, when you try hard to protect your spiritual health you know it is Jehovah who miraculously helps you to maintain it.
In other words you are supposed to help yourself and then believe that it was Jehovah who helped you. And all that through the FDS class of course.
What a miraculous provision!
I have to echo Avengers here...

Is religion the real reason for many wars?
by Pole ina lot of posters on this board have expressed the opinion that religion is the reason for many wars.
some have even implied that if religion was "banned" the number of wars would be reduced.

Good point everyone. I generally agree with most of you. It's amazing how many people fail to see that religion is primarily a tool in warfare. It rarely is the real undelying reason for conflicts. Oftentimes people are manipulated to believe that they're dying for a religious cause, but their beliefs are only used to raise their morale and fuel their hatred which was first ignited by a more mudane reason (land resources, political injustice, etc.). I'm sure blind nationalism can play and it does play a similar role in many armies. The misunderstanding is largely due to the picture we get from the media of religious fanatics swearing to kill their enemies in the name of God.
As Fe2O3Girl points out, even the most stupid religious fanatic is too rational to kill and die for transubstantiation if there aren't any other non-religious reasons. LOL.
Speaking of the Japanese.... I think the best example of how religion is used in warfare is the Kamikaze "religion" which was adopted by the Japanese military for military/political purposes. The Kamikaze pilots believed there's a religious significance to dying for the Emperor, but one can hardly claim their religious beliefs were the reason for the war.

Most things they seem to be "getting right" at first (in a religious sense), they gradually replace with a more wacky doctrine of their own.
Like "there's no life after death and no immortal soul". This of course doesn't apply to the 144K whose souls go straight up to heaven the moment they die. Oh yeah, they don't say it's their souls (they're just going to live in the "spiritual dimension"), but what exactly is the difference?
They say they don't recognize confession, because only God can forgive your sins. But then, they have judicial committees which are way more stupid than anonymous confession.

Help: I have a dispute with a JW and don't know how to proceed.
by kouzelna ini have a serious business dispute with a jw and it is getting out of control - i need to know if there is any procedure for seeing mediation that he can trust (through your organization, for example).
i am also a serious practicing christian believer, although i am not a jw.
i have no reason to believe that this man is not exactly who he claims to be, as he has always acted honorably, apart from our business together, regretably.

We both live in Eastern Europe, where foreigners are disliked and JWs especially are openly hated.

I'm back from my weekend business trip.
Quotes,
Pole, keep in mind that you don't have to re-invent the wheel: there are many, MANY Open Source Content Management Systems to choose from; in fact the hardest part is just the selection process itself. I have been looking at these a *LOT* lately, and my current top picks are, in no particular order, (and please don't flame me if I don't mention your favourite):
Good points, but I was just mentioning the initial data transfer stage (from XML to SQL).
Simon,
In fact, if they are providing XML then a few XSLT stylesheets should enable versions of the site to be created.
Yeah, this data could be used right away in this way (depending on the quality of the DTD). But if it's necessary to move it to SQL (just for greater flexibility of management), then I can offer help here.
I personally think that lightweight hosting is best - have the Db and maintenance done off-line and then publish a set of static files (as there is no real live run-time requirements). This will dramatically reduce hosting costs and allow many many mirrors to be setup cheaply and easily.
That's a good idea.
SNG,
I also have experience with XML and MySQL, but my experience with Java is limited. Like Euphemism, I have a lot of experience in .NET, C# specifically. I've also written many applications in PHP, but after working in .NET it's kind of hard to go back to that. Currently I work in MS SQL extensively, so I'd be up for that too.
Actually I was thinking of using Java only for the initial data transfer (any other programming language with an XML API could be used for this purpose). I have done this kind of work before. Once in SQL the data would be really flexible for further development.
But I generally think Simon has a good idea (static clones of the site that can be hosted by many folks with the dynamic DB only available for the developers).

# Pole: "I can then convert it to SQL or plain HTML for free."
# Euphemism: "I'm a professional developer (primarily .NET at the moment, but I've done PHP/mySQL in the past) and would be happy to provide tech help."
# seattleniceguy: "I could aid in several other facets of the re-development effort, as well, such as design and development of the new site."
Euphemism, SNG,
I have experience in Java-XML-MySQL processing, so I can write an app which will allow us to move the content of the site to MySQL. Then it can be exported in any text-based format (or to another RDB), depending on what you would want to use at the DB tier of the new site.
Norm,
Once the financial aspects are sorted out, I would take care of the initial data pre-processing. I hope if they are getting paid for the conversion, the XML they sell us will be reasonably consistent.
IT Support and others,
I guess at some stage we may want to move this discussion to Campaign and Strategy?
