how many bible canons do exist? who decided over the inclusion and exclusion of every single book?
do we have to follow every commandment that jesus gave us? did you already "sell everything you own, give it to the poor and follow" jesus? if this commandment is not to be taken that seriously, does this also apply to the preaching-work?
did you ever notice, that if adam and eve wouldn't have sinned, you would have never been born? thus, are you glad that adam and eve sinned? are you thankful for that?
which day/hour was jesus executed? compare the synoptic accounts with the john gospel.

"Un-baptism" questions please
by alamb inmy eldest child has asked to be baptized next month as a jw.
the court has ordered i have to give written permission if the child is under 18. .
i am going to consent, but only if she studies with me and can answer my baptism questions.

The 144,000-A club for Men Only???
by ohiocowboy ini was just reading some passages out of the new world translation, and stumbled upon something very interesting.
we all know rev 14:1, which numbers the 144,000, but reading the scriptures after that i noticed verse 4 which states that "these are the ones that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins".
this seems to show that the 144,000 would be comprised of virgin men.

aint it funny how parts of a passage are taken literally while other parts have to be twisted around to fit doctrine? maybe only virgin men and virgin lesbians? about "no man" and "no one", i think the original meaning is "nobody". most translations use "no one".

Doom 3 and demonism

i let one of my friends play first and it scared him so he quit.
next day at the meeting, i tell them how intense the game is, and they are all like "you should burn the game you should throw away the game.

i'm a jw, and i don't believe in all that demon stuff. they say: "get rid of that cd, that computer game, that movie" and what not (even kid-stuff like harry potter, lotr and sabrina the teenage witch.. lol) because you'll let get demons into your house. well, i would understand if some demon would come to my house to open a bottle of beer with me, but i don't get why a demon would be attracted by harry potter!
i could understand if they would come to play doom3 a bit though. i guess it's a pretty cool game. i personally always was attracted to such games and i only didn't get doom2 when i was little, because my parents would ask me about the pentagrams in the game. after some time every jw will get used to that, first let them play some killing-only game, without demons, something like half-life, battlefield or whatever.
to say it with king arthas (wc3:tft) word's: "let the killing begin" -

Turns out liquor store in my neighborhood is owned by JW's
by run dont walk ini was very surprised, here in alberta, canada, they privatized the liquour stores about 10-15 years ago, and the amount of stores tripled, practically one on every corner now, .
well, it turns out, that one store in my neighborhood isowned and operated by this family that are jehovah's witnesses, belong to a chinese congregation, .
i would think this would not be allowed, or show poor judgement, they say its wrong to have a store and sell cigarettes, but maybe alcohol is ok, .

seems like a lot of you ex-jws (not all) are more conservative and rigorous than most jws actually are... next thing will be: "did you hear that jws are allowed to eat eggs? aint that abortion?" little tip: stick with the facts. there has never ever been a ban on alcohol for jws, not even in the beginnings.
another thing i want to add here: i noticed that many here (again, not everyone) like to talk bad about jws in general. i understand if you are not in love with the org, but what does the single jw have to do with it? did you forget you were one of those once? i wonder if it would have encouraged you to actually start thinking if someone would always keep bashing you about things you actually dont even know of...
