Say you are not going. Not interested in seeing anyone right now. Nope not feelin' it but thanks for the concern. Sorry to disappoint have a good day. Yeah, really not up to discuss any of it. Shut them out.
Say you really would appreciate it if they would leave you alone . That is not a disfellowship offense.

That is all too true. It is part of their mantra they go into when you run into them.
"This system is just so bad its gonna come soon. Jehovah will bring and end to this evil system of things soon. The end is near I just know it pay attention to the signs!"
So self confident and so eager.

You have a complicated situation given that the father is a witness. My family that are witnesses know that they are on a very short leash with the witness crapolashine. They have been told they are not to preach to my kids and my kids have been taught to recognize it and rat it out instantly. I have taught them what their misinformed relatives believe and taught them why it is nonsesnse.
It doesn't seem as though you are in the same situation. Limit as much as possible.....no really. I prepared my kids from the get go to deal with these issues and still keep a tight limit on things especially with their grandmother. They get to sleep over once or twice a year for like a night or two. Meetings are absolutely banned. One mention of any sort of preaching that comes across through my conversations with the kids and I grill my Mom like its the inquisition. I let it be known that I was raised to shun and that I would hate myself for ever turning that button on but I would to protect my kids. No one else in my family seems very daring as I am sure that my Mom has shared this info. It really is this important.
I have been out for a long time so this comes easier to me than for most. It took some time to get to this point with myself and to find a way to keep relatives and yet let them know I won't put up with them crossing the line. I would allow contact and then nip it off completely so tha they knew I was damn serious. Had to do it a few times. Never know when I will have to jerk the leash again.
Unfortunately it seems as though you may only be able to limit so much because of the dad.
Hang in there.

The secret recipe to the very disgustingly fine District Convention Hoagie sandwich wrapped in the wonderful banned aluminum foil that isn't really banned that we don't discuss cause its too damn embarassing. Unless of course we wear it on our head with lambs blood during the grand slaughtering... umm ...I mean Great tribulation. I saved mine!!!

With all the recent flip flopping and scandel associated with the witnesses lately it is no wonder they are pulling this very powerful stunt. They are anxious about it. Most people in the org are full of anxiety about world conditions (war, poverty, morality...) on top of life's own personal anxiety.
Recent changes in the org has got alot of people of balance more than usual. They are filled with reasons to be anxious and fearful several times a week and are supposed to study for each one of those sessions.
It is an opportune moment for them to announce the end is near with strong inference and suggestion. "Always seek the opporutne time" to strike fear in the hearts of the anxious.

Interesting yknot. We called him Grandad. He was from Britain and was quite the english gentleman. Never ever raised his voice. An artist with a knife and fork. And completely dedicated to the society with a giant koolaid smile. Quite the Sunday talk giver he was. I think I am getting sleepy just thinkin' about one of those Sunday orations.

Do ASL dubs recruit more aggressively than other dubs?
by truthseeker inasl = american sign language for those who don't know.. i read a recent post on dubs knocking at doors and asking if anyone knew asl.. here's my experience.. .
i attended a jw sponsored asl course about 4 years ago in a neighboring congregation.
there were about 15 students in total.. the lesson was not to exceede 3 hours and afterwards we would go straight out into service.. the lessons were fun and we were given homework assignments to learn the various signs etc.

I do not have something to share on this topic other than it never ceases to amaze me the thoughtless actions these people carry out. I reflect on certain things growing up with this and just shake my head at myself.
