i've been learning to play for the last 3 weeks and would like to buy myself an acoustical guitar.
i've borrowed two, one is a wonderful yamaha and the other is a fender made in china, plywood and it sounds not so good.
those of you who have gone through this - what would you recommend to me if i were your favorite poster?.
I wouldn't spend less than $300 for an acoustic. Anything cheaper is almost always a waste of money. Hard to play, and won't last long.
not to mention the likelihood of extreme discouragement followed closely by destruction of said crappy guitar when everything you play sounds like sh!t.
i'm surprised no one has mentioned Guilds yet. i'm not sure how the current breeds sound (weren't they bought out by someone a few years back?), but the older models are awesome. a bit more pricey but the sound is nice...deep and loud. basically, buy a nice guitar and sound better than you are...buy a crappy one and sound way crappier.
what proof is there that the jws were chosen by jehovah to be a "people for his name"?
growth in numbers is not proof, other religions also have displayed such growth over the last 100 years.. material prosperity is not proof as other religions also have considerable wealth, both in cash, property and real estate.. printing the watchtower and awake!
magazines certainly is not proof!.
That's as hopeless as asking for papers from the local schizophrenic that proves he's the Emporer of Uzbekistan. Even though its doubtful since he lives in a cardboard box in Wichita.
'doubtful'. ha!
hey guys,.
i have a question for any writiers in the house.
i was just curious if anyone here knows of a good writer's workshop website (you know, those sites where you can post stuff and get feedback...that sort of thing.).
writing.com seems alright (pretty good traffic), but, man, that interface. maybe it's just me, but i have the hardest time getting around on that site. i just think they should've spent a couple more bucks on their webpage design, you know? it seems like there are a lot of kids on there, too. not that i don't like kids...for, like, mowing my lawn and beating me at madden...but the stuff i write isn't really suited for them, you know? dang it...that's two 'you knows'. see why i need feedback???

hey guys,
i have a question for any writiers in the house. i was just curious if anyone here knows of a good writer's workshop website (you know, those sites where you can post stuff and get feedback...that sort of thing.). i've looked around a bit online but haven't found too much. well, at least not free ones. there were quite a number of pay sites if i recall, but i have a hard time separating the wheat from...the...uh...you know what i mean. i don't mind membership fees if the site is worthwhile.
anyway, just thought i'd ask. thanks.
hey everybody!.
i've really enjoyed my time here so far and thank everyone.
besides successfully killing far too many threads .
from what i understand, you'd have to have ceased all practices within the org the moment you hit 18. otherwise, they can say that you displayed implicit agreement and made the baptismal "contract" binding while you were of age.
and welcome!
in the u.s. we had a voting day yesterday that decided more than just any one candidate for any one position, but which ideology (democratic or republican) would hold sway over the government.
if ever there was a time to weigh in, you'd think this woulda been it.. but i didn't.. of course i'm lazy.
of course i'm distracted, and busy, and unsure of where to vote.
i've decided that politics (at least in this country) is like chess. the pawns do what pawns do; the knights do what knights do...etc. the two teams battle each other for dominance of the board, meanwhile the spectators, seeing that they have absolutely no part of the game, get bored and walk away from the table leaving the two sides to their business. and i mean business. i've become so cynical of business' involvement with our political system that i don't really see the point of assisting one side or the other get into office. either way, the corporations win.
OTOH, if someone is running on a platform which i definitely am opposed to (say anti-abortion), i will vote for the other guy just to keep the first guy away from the power...but then, i'm just playing my part in the game, too...the guy i vote for to block the scumbag is in all liklihood a scumbag himself in some other way. plus, the whole voting thing is kind of pointless for me because i live in texas and Kinky wouldn't have won anyway. :)
unfortunately i can only review the first 5 or 10 minutes of the show as a result of the fact that i got seriously nauseous twice in that time period resulting in my having to walk out.
simply put, that show is seriously f. i've never been a big fan of horror movies because the plot lines and acting have traditionally been of extraordinary poor quality.
the main characters always make some seriously stupid decision and end up being killed by... whatever.
It's no damn different than the crowds that used to cheer when Christians were fed to the lions.exactly. further proof that it's not today's 'society' that is super evil or violent, but humans. get used to it.
can anyone share their input (stupid question) on the possibilties of former jw's or df'd dubs filing a personal or class action lawsuit against the wts or it's local congregations based upon defamation of character.
in some states there is the provision of a slander/libel suit based upon "malicious use of truthful information".
i would think that some precidence has been established by similar suits against other social and religious groups.
i think another issue is that technically we knew and implicitly agreed to the possibility of subsequent sanctions at the time of our officially joining. (nevermind that many of us were hardly out of our didies when we were dunked...)
hi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on people that say they are born gay?
ive heard that this isnt actually possible, and that there is no scientific backing to it, im personaly not gay but i was just wondering what some of you think on this matter, and if you have anything to back it up with, thanks,.
.
When you get married you make a conscious decision to deny all feelings for others and commit yourself to one person only.
and some say marriage isn't 'natural' either. quickly, name all the animals inhabiting planet earth currently practicing monogamy...
now name all the ones practicing it successfully...
