You're in total denial. They're not halfway decent guys, if they were, they wouldn't be in the situation in the first place. WHILE they are in prison they need to be retaught how to have living skills. Only for the young ones. Otherwise, all bets are off.

i think you're missing my point. i agree that they are NOT decent guys...that's why they deserve to be killed. if, for the sake of argument, they WERE decent guys and they just "made a mistake" (which i do NOT think is EVER the case when a grown man rapes a child...you'd have to be a monster to do that) they would wish they were dead anyway. either way, like i said, lock em up or bury em.

I do believe and feel that young people with these proclivities can be reformed, retrained. It has been said that the young brain does not reach full development until 22. I can cite sources if asked. Young first time sexual felons maybe have a chance. Second time: after appropriate information has been dispensed, and proper behavior mods have been instituted, then it gets bad, and the picture is not good, not now, or for the future.

no, i definitely see where you're coming from. i'm not really arguing whether it's possible to rehabilitate these folks. i'm just saying that if they were halfway decent guys, IMHO, they would completely understand (and even applaud) a law abiding society's desire to be rid of them forever.

The sad part about all this is that oftentimes, these people don't THINK they're sick.

this is exactly why i think they should be permanently removed from society. lock em up or bury em. makes no difference to me. the ones that realize what they've done should be so ashamed that they would understand that the punishment fits the crime.

we will be seriously thinking of some barbaric methods to stop them in their tracks. Physical castration is one of these methods; GPS tracking; chemical castration; or life imprisonment in a place meant especially for them.

i can think of more barbaric (and fitting) things than GPS tracking...

you know, i hear anti-death penatly arguments that some of these guys are truly sick and have had really messed up lives and never really had a chance and maybe more killing isn't the answer. and then you hear some molesters saying that they know they need help and "please just give me another chance" stuff. like with proper treatment they can "get better".

i think that any guy with even a potential for decency that commits a crime like this would beg to be put to death because he would realize that he is a danger to society. begging for another chance would just indict him as the monster he is.

Thnk long and hard about who acts as your proxy and alternate proxy. It has to be someone who will support your wishes when you are unable to talk for yourself. Can they do this if their personal beliefs are different?

yeah, that's exactly what i mean. all these people are fighting for Terri's life because they have certain convictions, but maybe there's nothing she would've wanted more than to just die.

i should've probably paid better attention at all those blood card talks because i don't know much about DPAs. can anyone help me out? my questions are, where can i get one? what do i do with it after i fill it out? (i.e. does it have to be notorized? on file with an actual attorney?) i found a few forms online, but do they all constitue legally binding douments or is there specific verbiage that i should look for?

i know, these are a lot of questions here...basically, do you have one filled out? what did you do? if it helps, i'm in texas.

i didn't want to hijack the thread about videogames at bethel, so i thought i'd start another.the indiscriminate killing of policemen, the ability to kill prostitutes as well as ordinary citizens, the drug culture that is reflected in san andreas, these are all things that the young ones in my community strive for, they look up to the thug, the pimp, the hustlers who sling rock in my community.

theses are not the things i would want my child to concentrate his attention on.

the language is absolutely deplorable, and theres more to come.

this is kind of off topic, but i think that just as every generation feels that the apocolypse is right around the corner, it seems like every generation thinks that society can't possibly get any "worse".

who knows what worse is, though. we live longer, stay healthier for longer, are more globally united, know more about our universe and technology than ever before in the history of mankind. that's pretty good. granted, we still have a long way to go and humans are still a barbaric species (there we go...i wasn't sure if my rant would come back to violence...), but we're getting there.

i think humanity isn't that bad and as far as history goes, we've never been better.
