I took swimming lessons at the Y. I guess my mom did not know at the time that is was considered a church by the society and I sure as hell wasn't plannin on tellin her. It was nice to have an after school activity that did not involve preaching or telephone wittnessing.

Just got back from the YMCA
by Atilla ini went to the y last night just to relax and go swimming.
the y near my house is pretty clean and after 8 p.m., not very crowded.
i find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower.

Were You Treated With Respect When Counseled By The Elders?

many elders were pretty nice guys but a few could turn----just like that!

i've been "counsled" (don't think i spelled it right) numerous times about my "many unnecessary questions" concerning the wt publicaitons. The fact that a meeting was needed to tell a grown human being that they were asking too many questions about a subject matter was irrelevean to me about how I was treated. I could not beleive I was even there in the first place. Did not 1 john 4:1 tell us: "Beloved ones do not believe every inspired expression but test the inspired expressions to see wheter they originate with God." (NWT)

1. what is everyone's thoughts on society not allowing brothers to wear beards?
i read somewhere that russel(society's first prez) had a beard and the second pres( russel) wanted to completely dissassosiate anything having to do with russel and so therefore outlawed against them.

What is up with Kirk Cameron?
by Markfromcali ini think that's his name - you know the kid from that show growing pains?
i knew he was in the left behind movie and i think maybe another apocalyptic one, but then i saw him on some evangelical show talking about how to 'witness' to people, spouting a simplistic 'technique' of showing how people are sinners against the 10 commandments and then telling them you can be saved.. one thing that stands out is i could swear his acting in gp was more convincing than this spaced out kinda look he had in this show.

Your post was hilarious. Are u still a witness? I remeber loving watching Zena warrior Princess but was told it was of course a demonic, pagan T/V show. Yes, the show had many spiritistic and "pagan" story lines but that was the point. The show was created to be a out of the book history lesson on the B.C era when people believed in the studf. If watching what is written in the history books "bad" then so should learing about it be too (which is written throughout the entire Bible is it not?

I read an Awake article concerning counsel on wives with abusive husbands and it even counsled that going to the authorities may only provoke the abuser even more! What am I in.. the twilight zone??!!! The Society is trying to tell me that if my hubby is bashing my brains in every night that a couple of middle aged men in a suit and tie with a Bible in his hand is gonna be able to keep him from using me as a human punching bag rather then a couple of cops who can throw him in a hole for the night? Scary thought.

I saw the website concerning the sublimial imaging in the knowledge book. Its been a known fact that psychologically speaking, a pitcure can be folded, cut or turned around in hundreds of ways to make the beholder see what he wants you to see. Basically, its kind of like what they said about the dollar bill being able to be folded into the images of the twin towers burning. Well, you can also fold a dollar bill to depict a house with a chimney. I would not jump up and down concerning your friend's findings.

WHAT COULD YOU DO? THE ELDERS, THE SOCIETY, THEY ALL HAVE THE CONTROL. IF YOU SPEAK UP ABOUT ANYTHING AGAINST THE WATCHTOWER I THINK WE ALL KNOW WHAT WILL BE THE OUTCOME. THOSE DREADED ELDER MEETINGS FOLLOWED BY CONTINOUS "COUNSEL AND ENCOURAGEMENT" AKA THE ELDERS KEEPING CLOSE TABS ON THOSE WITH A DRIFTING MIND. ITS A BATTLE THAT MANY CAN'T SEEM TO WIN. NOT UNTIL MAYBE THE MEDIA REALLY DIGS DEEP INTO THE SOCIETY. KINDA LIKE WHAT THEY DID WITH OJ.
