I would just like to appologise for mis quoting a scripture in my last post; the Jehovah's Witnesses taught me everything they know.

Why so much DEFICIT?
by Aintthatcute inwhen i sit at a ca and the bro comes out and reads the financial report it is alwasy in the red (deficit).
then i ask myself: "if we own this building, the parking area, and there is no food being served; how in the world can we have a deficit?
" typically, the deficit is in the range of $5000 and $7000.

I wouldn't worry about this.
The witnesses are dropping in numbers in the western world and only increasing in developing (poor) countries. (generally)
Their numbers are increasing slightly over all but their donations are going through the floor.
What they don't tell the rank and file is that the expansion which was occurring in the western world until the mid 90s was mostly due to family members (children) becoming witnesses and not due to millions of hours of preaching. Now the honey moon is over.
In the countries where the number of people dying or leaving the org exceeds sign ups, this will mean
1. less donations
2. less publishers so less hours spent in field service
3. kingdom halls becoming half empty and too expensive to keep
4. lower morale and motivation for preaching
5. witnesses will wonder what God is waiting for and get impatientPerhaps "a third of the stars will fall" is an understatement.

Counting Time... Is It Part Of The Rot?
by ballistic inhow many here have pioneered?.
be honest, what was predominantly on your mind, telling people this wonderfull good news or was it counting time?.
an elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing.".

blondie, I don't know when they started counting time, I would like to know too.
I bet they'll consider stopping publishing some of the figures if their hours and members keep dropping. -

They always do, normally it includes the min servs too, unless it's changed since I was out. Oh, but there will be plenty of private meetings too which won't be announced. These will be about who is rubbing shoulders with the elders and wants promoting etc.

An elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing."
I suppose he was asking "what is 'the pioneer spirit' when the only commitment is THE HOURS".
Another elder said to me "Don't count time but make your time count." Now, if you read that quick, it sounds like good advice from an elder, but the context of what he was saying was to make a call before setting out on your journey in order to be able to count the whole morning.
I think this selfish and cold method of "building up treasures in heaven" is not only the rot at the core of the Witnesses' preaching but permeates their whole attitude to service to God.
I was a pioneer, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would admit to this sickening statistical sacrilliage. -

How Do OLD AGE JWs Feel?
by ballistic ini just want to know if jws that have been in the "truth" all their lives, having given all for the "kingdom" die in peace or whether in the autumn and winters of their lives, they are stung by nagging intrusive thoughts... "i have given my whole life to this organisation and where is the new system?".
i ask because these people were taught they were in "the last days" when they grew up many decades or even a century ago.
how can someone go that long believeing it was going to be tommorrow?

Although I agree with blondie that those in that situation must look to the future and make the best of their deal, listening to a couple of the answers makes me sad, my worst fear is that people grow old this way. It sometimes even sickens me what that organisation is doing to people, sad, very sad.

I did the window cleaning rounds running my own business as a JW. I don't think this has anything to do with making time for preaching (although I did pioneer on and off), I think it was to do with sticking with what you know, and the encouragement to do it from other bros.
I only went to college and university after leaving the JWs and now work for an IT department in an American bank based in England. -

They clearly state time and time again in the Watchtower that only false religion relise on the UN:
<G<Þ>G>Jer 23 <G<Ü>G>Verse 32 tells us: "'Here I am against the prophets of false dreams,' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'who relate them and cause my people to wander about because of their falsehoods and because of their boasting. But I myself did not send them or command them. So they will by no means benefit this people,' is the utterance of Jehovah."
10 What false dreams, or hopes, have the clergy taught? Why, that man's only hope for peace and security today is the United Nations. In recent years they have called the UN "the last hope of concord and peace," "the supreme forum of peace and justice," "the chief temporal hope for world peace." What a delusion! The only hope for mankind is God's Kingdom. But the clergy do not preach and teach the truth about that heavenly government, which was the central theme of Jesus' preaching.watchtower1994 3/1
