There are some people here like YOU KNOW and REX who are going to be really disappointed when this war is over and the world economy picks up again. But will that make them re-consider their beliefs? No, like "a dog returning to it's vomit" they will sit and pine for the next sign of pending doom, sniffing at any sh|t they can dig up to satisfy their anarchistic tendencies which have a suedo contructive outlet within the whitewashed headstones of the "borg".

"Its Exciting!"
by Defender in"although the terrorist attack was horrific, but i must admit its exciting!
" said one jw elder i spoke to on the phone yesterday.. he said that there was a sister that has been a jw for more than 50 years that said "at last, something is hapenning.".
(btw, he told me that most congregations in the us have been instructed that when talking to people, they should not bring up the issues of blood or neutrality.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

To you know,
I thought the witnesses were waiting for a declaration of peace prior to end, not a declaration of war.
I fail to see what your predictions have of relevance to the end of the world.I think this is another example of Jehovah's Witnesses hedging their bets and wanting to have their cake while eating it.

10/1 WT: Creative days = 7,000 years
by Seeker inthe fourth paragraph on page 30 in the october 1, 2001 wt says this:.
"getting back to paul's statement in hebrews, we note that he pointed out that "there remains a sabbath resting for the peoples of god," and he urged his fellow christians to do their utmost "to enter into that rest.
" this shows that when paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of god's rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress.

After creating Eve, God rested from all his creative works, i.e. entered into a sabbath. It was believed by Fred Franz and taught in his book "Life Everlasting - In Freedom of the Sons of God" that it would be "appropriate" for the earth to be restored to an Edenic paradise by the end of the Millenium which also coincides with the final 1,000 years of the seventh "day". Since it was calculated that Adam was created in 4026 BCE then, by deduction, the year 1975 CE would be a "very interesting year"
The witnesses have always supported the view that "no one knows the day or the hour", so how could they have EVER possibly condoned trying to work it out? Surely if the time of the end was based on ANY MATHEMATICAL PRINCIPLE WHATSOEVER, the devil and the demons could have worked out the exact date of the end milleniums ago.My point is that while the JWs have been pre-occupied with fortelling the time of the end, there can (and must) be no mathematical basis for the date of armaggedon for the aforesaid reason.

"Infinite Justice"
by messenger inwell it appears our genius of a president and his great advisors have now managed to offend what was left of the muslims who were halfway favorable to helping the usa.. infinite justice?.
who was the dummy that created that moniker?
does it have something to do with ridding the earth of all evildoers?

Where are the People of God to be found today?
by stevieb1 inthis is a matter i have wrestled with.
who are the people of god, where are they to be found.
i feel that there are some within the watchtower organization as there are in other churches.

The question should be when are the people of God.
I'll explain:
It is a fact that space and time started at some point, whether you believe in God or science.
For God to be the creator and not a product of the universe, he must exist outside of space and time or "space-time".
In this position, God would not see the passing of events in a lateral time line as we do but in a "lump", very difficult for us to imagine, but try to imagine all the places you've ever been appearing in the same place simultaneously but making a coherant pattern.
Now comes my point:
Why would God choose an arbitary point on OUR time line at which point those who are sinners or haven't repented will die, and those that have found the "Jehovah's Witness" religion will live? - when moving this point one way or the other would definately alter the numbers (and the individuals) who are saved. -

So Whats Your Choice Of News Info?
by Englishman inseeing all these different people on this board, together with varying personalities, thoughts and opinions, makes me wonder about our reading and viewing material.. take the daily news.
if you watch tv, which news programme do you spend most time viewing and why?
the same question as to which daily newspaper you read, plus, does your newspaper have a political bias that attracts you?

BBC News 24 wins hands down. I leave it on 24 hours a day, what more can I say. When mates come round and ask what channels I've got, I say I dunno. I really don't.
p.s. in another thread I told someone to watch some news outside of America occasionally and they responded, "Oh I do, I watch CNN"
I thought what a laugh, it may be transmitted world wide, but it is definately American. Hence CNNs good coverage of the wtc as you state.

You haven't asked for my advice, but perhaps you shouldn't have mentioned the cannabis. This detracted from your problem because it is becoming more and more acceptable and is not addictive.
You need to concentrate on the alcohol problem.
There have been times in my life when I have relied heavily on alcohol, such as when out of work or in a stressful situation. I currently have no problem with it and have not had to give it up totally as some have suggested. But my experience with dope is totally different, done in an occassional social environment, never to excess and given up from one day to the next without a second thought.
Concentrate on the alcohol, seeking professional help if required. This is where the problem is, not cannabis. -

Sheeeeeeeeesh!, some of you must be getting some real good draw!!! Do you know where I can get it? (joke - I'm not soliciting)
To say you're addicted to pot and haven't done it for 2 years I find hard to believe. Are you sure you weren't doing something stronger such as H even un-knowingly?
Pot or Gear as we call it in the UK, is very widely used by the young and old. It's very prevelent in the colleges and Universitys and parents who remember the 60's are still going strong on it. It's not frowned upon in most circles, and although you may not mention it straight away when (for example) starting a new job, you soon learn who does and who doesn't.
There is a strong debate for legalisation here in the UK and it has just been accepted as an orthodox medical treatment.
I really find this an interesting insight into the US general opinion, and to be honest, I am shocked that you are not more liberal than here. Very suprised.
Some of you, I think have very little experience of it, and sound like dopeophobes frightened of addiction.
I don't believe it to be addictive in the slightest, either chemically or otherwise to a normal person. I would agree with the sentiments of some others who feel that the alcohol addisction is far worse.
Remember three things:
If there is a problem with your reality, do not adjust your mind to compensate.
If it doesn't work for you, don't do it.
Just because it is legal doesn't mean it's alright and if it's illegal it doesn't mean it's all wrong.
