  Are apostates stopping the WT from mainstreaming?

  i was thinking about this un thing.

  on one of the threads, someone had commented how the wt's association with the un would explain a lot of the changes in wt policy regarding blood, disfellowshipping etc.

  i think this is likely.. it is entirely possible therefore, that the un association has been a good thing.

  I don't think the GB wants to mainstream for 2 reasons:
  a.
  they say they are no part of the world and constantly state that the differences between them and other religions is what defines them as the "true" religion.
  b.
  I am of the opinion that the Gov.Bod. are as much brainwashed by the whole machine as any members (i.e. I am not one of the conspiracy theorists who believe the people at the top have a different agenda) Therefore they believe they have been God's choosen people since early last century, that they are infallible and that no long term planning such as this is necessary due to the fact the end is very near.

  (this last point also being the reason for their doctrinal blunders)

  The disturbing thing about ALL religions

  over the past couple of years i've been really questioning myself about why i have doubts about the wts and even the bible.. even though i've been raised as jw all of my life i've often felt that i was'nt really a religious person.

  unlike some of the people around me i just could'nt (and still can't) work up any excitement about the bible.. so after much thought i've come to the conclusion that the disturbing thing about all religions is that fear is emphasized more so than love.

  some might argue and say that the bible teaches just the opposite, some will no doubt think about the scripture "god loved the world so much that he sent his only begotten son".

  The whole religion thing just makes me so angry. It's obvious the world is split by religion, just look at what is happening in the world now.
  If there is a God sanctioning these rifts in humankind then that God is sick.
  If God split the languages and religions at the tower of Babel, then it's God's fault.
  They say religion is the opium of the people, and I would say that guilt and fear are the life blood of religion, and it makes me even more angry that people like the WB&TS can still brainwash millions of people into thinking they are different (because they don't do this or that) when in fact they are one of the most divisive and controlling religions out.

  i have to say that i am often surprised at the speed with which arguments and opinions on this board often become a conflagration worthy of the russian parliament.

  randy watters made the interesting point on another post recently, that this behavior was the nature of these types of boards and i have to begrudgingly agree with him.

  i wish it were not so, as like voltaire i tend to think that weakness on both sides, is, as we know, the trait of all quarrels.

  There are many excellent writtings on internet chat and it's idiosyncracies?
  Several points to mention are the mix of people often from various international sites - my cold English tounge in cheek humour is missed 9 times out of 10.
  Another is the lack of eye to eye contact and BODY LANGUAGE which makes up 80% of face to face communication as opposed to words alone.
  Another one is simple mis understandings and mis-spelings which is exagerated by the fact that there is often too much info to read all of it; people may read just the first line of a post, jump to a conclusion and post a scorning reply (I have been guilty of this myself).
  And finally, on a board such as this, there are a constant flow of antagonists or trolls who's intention it is to create havok to either seek attention or even bring down the whole level of the board for there own purposes.

  i am an inactive witness.

  the problem i'm having is that i have a 1 year old daughter.

  not that she's the problem, but jw's believe that only jw's will survive armageddon.

  I'M SO GLAD YOU BOUGHT UP THIS TOPIC!

  When I was growing up, I was always told I'd be thrown out of the house if I turned away from the truth, and although I stayed in it, my sister ACTUALLY WAS thrown out and put into the care of the authorities for not wishing to be a JW.
  I have heard similar stories from other witness children. (So much for them supporting the UNs backing for religious freedom)
  Anyway, I got thinking... The Jehovah's Witnesses preach that it is God that does the choosing, it is HE that searches people's hearts and beeing coosen does not simply depend on you being born into a JW family.
  This being the case, why do witnesses have children at all, when the rules of probability would predict that their offspring are very likely to be killed at armageddon?
  Afterall, who wants to live forever, when love must die?

  This plays on my mind a lot. I agree that many witness children do take up the religion, but that in itself is in conflict with their belief that God is choosing and that the condition of the heart is not related to upbringing or socio-economic background or inherited through genes.

  i have been taken a closer look at many of the posters here on this board.

  most of you are very critic about the jw and special about doctrines.

  No one has pointed out that Jehovah's Witnesses are discouraged from surfing the net, so if they "stumble" upon this, shame on THEM!

  Needless to say, banning members from the net is not only going to further harm JW's education and career prospects as the society have done for years, but also proves the society can't handle the prospect that they will loose members who discover the real "truth".
