I saw a documentary on those Children of God people and their flirty fishing. Their preaching consisted of sex and their meetings nothing but orgies. It was absolutely disgusting!!!

I need a cigarette.
by butalbee inok, the good news is i'm on vacation: a time when i should just relax, have fun, do things i like to do when i want to do them, stay up all night, sleep all day, whatever.
but, i picked of all times to *try* to quit smoking.
i used to smoke like only when i was drinking, or if i had a really bad day at work, but lately due to a stupid ass man in my life and my family fighting, i have been smoking more than i should.

Hi, I don't know if you've seen my threads about smoking but I've just passed the 3 month stage of quitting. I know exactly how hard it is to give up, this was my third attempt. When I read your post, I could see that you are almost at an obsessed stage. This is where your concentration on wishing to give up is actually focusing your mind not only on smoking but on the fact you have an addiction. This is very negative and self defeating. You must tell yourself, that in actual fact, YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM and YOU DO NOT SMOKE. You are ALREADY A NON-SMOKER.
This works, believe me. The moments of weakness still come but never last more than 3 - 4 minutes and then your mind is off onto something else. -

Well, here we are! Tonight represented 3 months of not smoking. Thanks for all the support. In that 3 months I did once get pissed up with beer and had a cigar and I've had a few miserable moments, but it is getting easier and easier. I'm going whole days now without even thinking about smoking. I also had to give up cannibis but that doesnt really come into it as that was just habit and I didn't find it addictive. I've saved aroung 500 quid in that 3 months on the lower estimate of consumption and actually am testing at under 1 part per million carbon monoxide in my blood compared to 40 parts. This is not to mention my physical lung capacity and general well-being.
p.s. I have no excuse for the speeling mistakes now as I can noe see through the smog. -

I would just like to add, with out wishing to scare anybody, that as I have done in the past to show people what CAN be done, you can generally find people with just a town or city and surname on the internet. I would always withhold one of these pieces of information or the other if not both if you are of a cautious nature. Of course, some people don't give a toss, but that is up to them. Others here have good reasons why they do not wish to be identified.

Is it better to give... or receive?
by teejay ini read a quote the other day that made me stop and think.. giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll.
love you back!
don't expect love in return, just wait for it to grow .

The question in the title said "is it better to give or receive?". Of course your real question was is it good to give even when not receiving.
Although not strictly a bible person anymore, I think the scripture you quote answers your own question in that the two things can be mutually exclusive and there is by definition more happiness in giving whether or not receiving is present.
Whether this is the case in your case however is a very different question. I tend to agree with Simon. If you are talking of unrocipricated love for example, I fail to see how a comparison of giving and receiving is relevant when a loving "relationship" requires and depends on two way love and affection, which a direct comparison of the benefits of giving AGAINST receiving does not account for.
And yes, when it comes to oral, I think giving is quite pleasant. -

When I was in the "truth" an American brother unsteady with our round after round of pint sized beers (lager) spilt some down him and said "oh, I've wet my pants now".
After laughing for about 10 minutes we explained this could only mean one thing in our language. -

Speakers are the most important piece of a stereo followed by the amplifier. Spend half your stereo budget on just the speakers alone. You generally get what you pay for. Go for a good brand and spend 50 quid on speaker wire if you really want good sound.
Next the amp. Make sure you get the power quoted in Watts RMS or DIN, NOT PEAK MUSIC POWER. Anyone who even quotes their stereo in PMPO is selling cheap and nasty stuff. You want Watts per channel RMS and as a rough guide, for a living room or bedromm you want an amp with around 100 watts per channel RMS and speakers 4 - 500 Watts per channel to match.
I have my own favourite brands but that is up to you.
Next consider your mindisc / cd / dvd, etc. These are minor considerations in comparison to the amplifier and speakers but still important if you want perfect sound. 100 quid in "Richer Sounds" (if you're in the UK) will get you a good hifi seperate CD or minidisk. Forget buying a cassette deck. I'm ditching mine allready. -
