You have developed "salesmen" skills going door to door for many years talking about things most individuals can not related to or do not want to know about.
I know witnesses that have done years of door to door without a single convert.

There were some good things about the organisation...
by Do I Stand Alone? ini have read a number of experiences in this discussion forum and quite frankly, i would have to agree that many, if not all, were pretty terrible experiences if not all together traumatic.
i know that my personal 9-11 tragedy resulted in finding out that the watchtower society was involved with the united nations.
that pretty much said it all as far as my "career" in the organisation was concerned.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I've never been a jw, so I have no reason to be bitter. I've read all the posts in this thread, and I think the following quote of yours is very telling:
In all my posts I have not wished anyone here personal bodily harm nor have I cursed at anyone. I have been libeled against, besmirched, cursed at, and wished bodily harm upon myself and family members, even death, yes even my own death. This is the way you guys propose helping others. You are more lost now than you ever were while in the org. But I take it all in jest. Leaving the org hasn't changed fundamentally who you are.
Your good. Everyone else is bad.
You have been well trained in how to be a jw.

Experience 1: Tall man, relation on mother's side, military images. Then the psychic gives some generic message a/b he's proud, control your life, let other's be where they want to be, patience. The dogs are ok. You know, that describes my grandpa too. And, I don't know, but he probably had some dogs at some point in his life.
Why would your grandpa speak from the grave and tell you about the dogs being ok when you didn't even know he had any? Sorry, but this is classic "psychic" bs perpertrated on someone who wanted to believe (as evidenced by your emotional reaction.)

If you and your girlfriend want to get involved, that's great. Just realize that once you do, you won't be allowed to get on forums such as this or visit other denominations. Additionally, if you ever want to change "denominations" you will be shunned by all the wonderful people who are still in the organization. And, if your girlfriend stays and you leave, or vice versa, the two of you will become "spiritual enemies" and you relationship will be ruined. Keep an open mind, and read through plenty of these posts.

If there is an all-powerful god, he certainly should be feared. Maybe we should all be scrambling to figure out how to appease god so we won't be damned to hell. Or, if there's no clear path to appeasement, then we're all just living in fear of an arbitrary and capricious all-powerful god who can smite us at will. If god is out there, he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants, so why live in fear of something we can't control or understand?

by Markfromcali inthe genetic manipulation thread got me thinking about this: as the times change, there will no doubt be more and more things the wts frowns upon, and these might be phrased in the ypa format similar to a list such as "you might be a redneck jedi if ..." so how about it?
i can't think of much now, but one elder once expressed that he didn't want his daughter to have a cd player.
it doesn't have to be technological, there's the social stuff... i know some of this has been done before so lets put it all in one thread!

The picture says it all. George Foster was a baseball player with the Reds in the 70s. He was my fav as a child - known for his black bat and pork chop sideburns. I don't even like baseball anymore, but I had a strange obsession with George Foster.
