  The Waiting Game...

  as most of you know, my ever-faithful sweet little jw mom (79) has had prior scheduled surgeries called off at the last minute.

  she called me tuesday evening(6/15) to advise me her open heart surgery was back on--for "today" (6/17) she resides over a thousand miles away and is actively shunning her non-jw offspring.

  not much notice, and none of her children will be with her in person.

  i finally feel like there is someone out there that understands what i'm going through.

  my ex-girlfriend (and still best friend) try to understand but she just can't.

  she supports me in being strong but it's just nice to vent to people who have been through the same thing.

  About the family thing, that was my main concern when I left (or begged the elders to DF me by telling them every nasty thing ) but I couldn't live the lie of acting like a JW, when I didn't feel like one. Got my mum out afterwards ....

  I need your help

  i need to know if it's ok for me to convert and become a jehovah's witness to be with the love of my life.

  i need to know what you think about this idea.

  if you agree with me converting, how would i do so.

  Veritas, after having read the way you write about this woman, I am silenced a bit, cuz you speak with much love. So i understand that you are willing to do everything for this woman.

  There are two things that i would like to say. 1: Is she just as willing to do everything for you? A question you can answer, and its really none of my business ...

  The second thing is this. Most of us have been in this religion, myself included. And we have lived the devastation it can bring to you. The control is enormous, and overwhelming. You might say that you won't get suckered in, and that is possible. I know of two people who have been a witness, and were not suckered in completely. My mum and grandma. None the less, events from them joining (and mine too ofcourse) have brought a great deal of pain to them, to their family ...

  Your future wife ... is she a true believer, does she believe in that religion with her hearth and soul? Cuz if she does, it will kill her if she thinks you are not a true believer. That would mean you will die, and she will be alone. If she is not a true believer, and is not regular at meetings and stuff, well, be prepared for elders visiting you, giving you advice. Be prepared for people telling you to do more and more in the fieldservice, meetings etc. It is a time-consuming religion, i can tell you that.

  You know yourself better than anyone here. And you know your love. But please, please, read on this form, ask questions and KNOW what you are getting yourself into with this religion. They are evil incarnated as far as I am concerned. I beg you, read and consider our words.

  If you are willig to give up the control over your own life, if you are prepared and okay with the fact that elders will find it perfectly okay to meddle into any subject of your life they seem fit ... by all means do so.

  Being a JW, believing in it .. means you have no thought of your own, it means you do not control your thoughtprocess, it means you are brainwashed. The moment you start doubting, questioning ... you will be reprooved and eventualy disfellowshipped. Which means you loose contact with all your JW friends, and your marriage will suffer.

  Don't. If she loves you, she will have to accept you for who you are. Don't change your entire personality, or pretent you changed it, so that she will marry you. At one point you will resent yourself for that, possibly even her. Just my 2 cents...

  There was this one sister, an elders wife, and she had dark brown hair, and then she dyed streaks of high-blonde i it. She looked likea zebra ... But in my cong, elders wifes could do anything, and all the other elders wife were standing around here, sucking up to her about how gorgeous it was....

  All I could think of was that she looked ridiculous, and with all the talk about apearances .. this could not be right.

  Btw, I have no problem with dying hair at all ...

  What Type Of Jehovah's Witness Were You, REALLY???

  most jws seem to be "devout" in that they go to 5 meetings and out in field service.

  yet, many also lived double lives.

  Although I went to all meetings (cos my mum wanted to go and was depending on me for transportation) I was only a faithful one during my first year, lazy (was'nt going in field-service) and questioning (most in silence) for the other 3 years. I stopped going to any meeting after my mum died.

  Was'nt "obeying" to the rules either.

  My daughter was seriously concerned those days and was thinking to ask the elders for advice. (which she did'nt do afterall) and then she got daubts (not caused by me) rebelled and got df-d.

  I was neither df-d or da-d but faded.
