I've seen this before too. At a cousin's wedding(non-JW) when the preacher was praying none of my JW relatives bowed their heads or anything....but funny part was..at the reception they were the first ones out on the floor shaking they butts...

I find this JW behaviour disrespectful
by Bumble Bee inon saturday i was at a cousin's wedding.
neither bride or groom was jw, although her mother (my aunt) was jw but was df'd for smoking way back in the early '70's and i doubt the bride (my cousin) remembers anything anymore.. her older brother said a prayer before the dinner.
it was a very beautiful prayer imho, and maybe he remembers a bit more of the jw experience, it started and ended like what you'd hear in a kh, but the middle was actually said from the heart and filled with love for the new couple and our family and the friends present.. i bowed my head and said amen afterwards.

I hope Taylor wins...I actually only watch the show to see him perform and then all the others are just a bonus....I PRAY HE DOESN'T DYE HIS HAIR....I personally think that's a part of his originality. He shouldn't change it.
I like alot of the others but Taylor gets my vote...Although I didn't vote last week...I will be voting this week...I just like how he's really into performing and it seems like it really doesn't matter if he wins or not because he just loves performing anyways...
So lets go Taylor fans....whoohoooo

New light re: talking to DF'd persons
by caryl ini was df'd in 1985 and have not been back since.
of course disowned by my family.
at that time they rarely called or came over because i had small children and they called just enough to semi maintain a relationship with them.

My mom keeps telling me some stuff about they're changing the shunning stuff too. She hasn't told me any specifics but she never quit talking ot me anyway when I was d'fd. So nothing will change. But my JW aunts and uncles that have shunned me for so long, even if they did try to start talking to me, I hate to be so unloving, but I don't want to talk to them ever. The way they make me feel like I'm a working for the devil or something. Seeing me in public and just smiling at me like I'm some little lost child or something. I hate that.
My mom tells me I should'nt feel that way but guess what, I do. My dad used to be the same way. I remember for at least about 8 yrs I didn't even talk to him and he lives just up the road (about 10 miles away)...I would see him at my grandmother's house(non-JW) and he would just pass me by like I was a total stranger. I talk to him now because he's no longer shunning me. But he wonders why I don't call and come around as much as he would like me to now. Because for so long Dad you chose not to talk to me, so I still feel uncomfortable around my own dad. Isn't that pitiful for people to let a man-made religion make families feel this way about each other?
Oh well. I'm still waiting to see the new rules. Personally I think alot of them are just saying f*** not speaking to my loved ones and doing what they want.

My grandmother's fish committed suicide like that..It was a huge Oscar (cichlid also) and he jumped out of the tank. It had a lid on it and everything but the next morning she came in the living room where his aquarium was and he wasn't in there. He had flip-flopped all the way to the other side of the room. Poor fishy.
When my fish are fighting they hit the lid, but they are not big enough to lift the lid. They're also cichlids. Put something heavy on it that he can't lift so that he can't jump out.

i live here in Baton Rouge, and amongst all the negative and some good news stories they have shown on local news, I guess I missed this one. I'm sitting at work reading this and crying at the same time. This has been one of the toughest weeks of my life. Even though I didn't have to go through what the New Orleans people had to go through, I'm feeling it everyday, emotionally that is. I've tried to stay strong, but its getting better some days and hard some days. With me working in law enforcement, I have to hear alot even though I don't really want to. But thanks for sharing such an encouraging story.

Well I wasn't gonna comment on this thread, but after further consideration I will go ahead and do so.
After watching the 9/11 movie from Micheal Moore, I now think Bush is the Anti-Christ. He just looks evil to me now. I can't stand even watching him on TV anymore. I only learned about these recent statements he made via JWD. So I guess now he about to go into Iran to look for wmd's. I don't have any immediate family over there fighting in Iraq, but everytime they show on the news local heroes that have died for his oil theft, I just get sick to my stomach.
He needs to go over there and fight some. Be like the president was on Independence Day. Get his ass in one of those tanks or security checkpoints that keeps being victims of suicide bombers.
That's all I have to say and I hope I don't get bashed for my opinion.
