  Deuteronomy 19:15-21,,Heb 8:11-13 Help Please

  19:15 states that one must have 2 witnesses to any charge of sin against a man.

  "These are the statutes and ordinances which you shall be careful to do in the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess.."

  'you shall be careful' - good news.
  The JW unconscious alteration usually imports 'IF'(adding) - bad news.

  "How may we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?"

  "when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you need not be afraid of him."

  Who the heck was Arius?

  re: previous discussions about the should you believe in the trinity brochure.. i found it surprising that the "truth[tm]" about the history of this little doctrine just plum forgot to include any reference whatsoever to arius, one of the main characters in the story.. there is much to read on this guy & his movement.. arianism - a heresy of the early christian church relating to definitions of the human or divine status of the person of jesus christ, was the first important doctrinal difficulty in the church after the legalization of christianity took place under emperor constantine i. .

  arius was a priest of the catholic church in alexandria, egypt.

  in a.d. 321 he was condemned by a synod at alexandria for teaching a heterodox view of the relationship of jesus christ to god the father.

  Arius was excommunicated but Constantine ordered Athanasius to reconcile him with the church but Athanasius refused. After that Arius got the emperor Constantine to to order Alexander of Constantinople to give him communion but then he died suddenly before it could happen.

  Insignificant as it seems, the doctrine of Arianism is a subtle infiltration that sets up two different camps. Originally the gnostics started questioning Christ's Deity (60-200) but that passed by the way as the catholics maintained that He was both truly Son and God. When the state accepted Christianity it started up again (313).

  It ties in with pride in one's own works, others not deserving - just like the Phariseeism that He rebuked. Rather than Christ who lives in me, I did it. - and the Real God is mighty, that's who we love.

  The "we follow him" becomes "we're earning it just like he did".
  Seems insignificant, but "...the serpent was the most subtle..."
  Very much the JW position.

  The eastern religions don't seem to fall into this same position of pride, though I think that it may be present in fundamental Islam.

  And yes, that's one of my major, if not THE major issue that I have with their way.

  The deception that they are christians and the entry to the unsuspecting.
  - to the widows (considered as those once spouse of the Holy Spirit)
  - and other souls (the soul being feminine)
  
  For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

  "they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all"

  Well,
  I think (if anyone cares) that:

  1) JanH must realise that for many people the WTS IS responsible for their ills, without a doubt - they entered into their lives on false pretences and proceeded to do damage.

  2) Perhaps the online community needs to use kid gloves on JWs with doubts, but personally I cannot accept that JWism is somehow ok.

  3) The trinity brochure or other written things may contain some types of human logic but as the wtbts is wrong on so much, it's difficult to find any truth - everyone already knows that it's ok for jws to lie, so then everthing is thought to be trash.

  4) Of course it must always seem as though people are ganging up on JWs - JWs are eventually always unable to sustain an argument on their own subject matter - being online means being very exposed in that type of arena - to stay in the field they require closed discussion - their own field.

  If it were directed at the WT, it seems that those who have had 'dealings' with them wouldn't considered it satirical, but rather, an actual article.

  It's noteworthy how people would not really believe it of the RCC, regardless of their opinions of them - but would readily believe it of the WTBTS: even their own.
  Regardless of what litter-at-ya they come up with (i.e. from below), the human spirit realises the truth about them having their head up their ass.
